We came to Incas for the first time to celebrate my birthday. One of my daughters has celiacs disease and it's so hard finding a restaurant that understands cross contamination. We were a group of five and upon arrival on a Thursday evening we were immediately greeted by Marilyn (so sweet). I had a conversation about my daughter needing gluten free and she immediately knew and asked if it was a diet or celiacs. She put me at ease and said she'd call the chef over. We met Cesar (owner and chef) and he reassured us that he would prepare anything she wanted on the menu himself. We ordered a few appetizers 2 orders of rellenos de papa (freaking delicious), tostones, ceviche mixto, guadito de pollo (chicken soup), and house salad. For entrees linguini with pesto and steak, chaufa de mariscos (rice with seafood), churrasco chimichurri, and half a chicken with sides of rice and salad. Let me start with the chicken soup, OMG, the broth was hearty with gresh herbs and tender melt in your mouth pieces of chicken. The ceviche mixto was hands down the best I've ever had! The pieces of fish were tender and marinated perfectly in lime, herbs and spices. It' was so delicious that I slurped every drop of the juices. The rice with seafood was expertly seasoned. Their green sauce was mild and added that extra kick to each of the dishes. Let's get to the linguine with pesto which was cooked al dente with a creamy pesto sauce. Incas is a hidden gem of Staten Island. Their food is fresh and expertly cooked by Cesar and his mom. You can tell they take pride in their dishes. Each dish was plentiful and generous portions. The ambience was cozy, dim lighting, perfect for family or date nights. Cesar and Marilyn were so accommodating and can't wait to come here again! Yesterday my wife & I went for lunch. We made the mistake of ordering out of the lunch specials. The food was good. However the drinks were outrageously priced and so was the food price. What outraged me the most was that they charged 3% added onto the bill for paying with a credit card. NEVER SAW THIS IN ANY RESTAURANT. Our lunch for 2 total was &101.53, not including the tip. Unimpressive overpriced food and just ok service After reading many good reviews we visited Inca's Grill on September 1, 2022 looking for Peruvian specialties. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Out of all the dishes we ordered only Lamb Shank was really good, and that was a special of the day. Everything else was "so-so, I could do without it" - see detailed descriptions below. The service was ok, polite, and quick. There was some construction going in the back of the restaurant causing a terrible annoying noise. The right thing to do was not to open for business during construction hours and don't let customers bear with it. As it was mentioned in other reviews the place is really overpriced and they also added a forced 20% gratuity to the check though it was just 3 adults and a 7y child. This was quite annoying but expected based on the reviews. Appetizers: Cebiche Limeno - it was a fish ceviche with nice presentation, but besides standard lemon juice, onion, cilantro it had something else giving it a weird taste. I ate it but my wife passed. The price was $20 while on their website it's listed at $17. Anticucchos de Corazon - "tender grilled veal heart skewers" - that's how menu describes it. In reality it was hardly chewable and very far from tender. We tried a couple of bites and that was it. The price was $14 while on their website it's listed at $12. Mains: Lomo Saltado - we got it a signature Peruvian dish. In reality it was a plate of chewey pieces of well-done beef with fries. And for some reason it was served with rice. Do we really need rice with french fries? Anyway, we can certainly make a much better beef with fries a home. And this was priced at $24 (website price $22). Lamb Shank - it was excellent. Meat was very tender, perfectly cooked with good complimenting sauce. It costed $35 though which was excessive for a place in the middle of Staten Island. And for the child we got chicken fingers with french fries. $13. Seriously? On their website they list 1/2 rotisserie chicken at $12. Drinks: We got Piscojito (Peruvian style mojito) which was a quite small glass thoroughly filled with ice and costing $14. Don't take me wrong, I have no problem paying good money for great food and service. But the reason I mentioned the prices was that they didn't match the quality of food, service, interior, atmosphere, and restaurant location. We got a feeling the restaurant was more focused on making some extra $$ rather than making customers and happy and willing to come back. A group of friends and I were trying to kill time. So, I looked up a couple of restaurants, and we agreed on Peruvian cuisine. Immediately, my taste buds were watering. I was thinking about the salsa verde (green sauce) and the aji amarillo (yellow sauce) along with all the spices. When we arrive there was another group seated and we sat in the same area. Our server approached us immediately to give us our menus, chips with green sauce and take our drink order. We ordered the pisco sour, passion fruit sour and the chilcano de pisco. In case your unaware, a pisco sour is made with egg whites. If it is made correctly, you will not taste eggs. I didn't taste eggs but there was a lot of simple syrup. So the drink was very sweet. The chilcano de pisco was ok but also very sweet. Now for the food. Appetizers: 1. Chips with green sauce- chips weren't fresh and the green sauce tasted mainly of mustard and mayonnaise. Not your typical green sauce. I had 1 taste and didn't take another bite. I really didn't have much expectations after this because I knew there wouldn't be authentic flavors. 2. Shrimp arepas- the best part were the shrimp. They were cooked and seasoned well. The plantains were dry and lacked flavor, and the guacamole taste store bought. There was no edge or pop of flavor. I actually scraped off the sauce and ate the shrimp. 3. Crab cakes- not much crab filling, and the inside had a soft texture. It was filled with a creamy sauce. I took one bite, and I was done. Both the arepas and the crab cakes were laying on a plate smothered with yellow sauce. It was not your regular yellow sauce. This looked like melted nacho cheese sauce. We were told it was made with cheese, eggs and I think some mayo. Where are the peppers? The egg taste was pretty strong and had a canned cheese flavor. Entrees 1. Roasted chicken- very disappointing. There were no Peruvian seasonings. It taste like grilled chicken and it was EXTREMELY salty. 2. Rice- only white rice. No yellow rice. So it was dry Rice and dry chicken. 3. Sweet plantain- they were cooked well and were sweet. They were the best part of the meal 4. Beans- ordered after we found out it was only white rice. The beans were lukewarm and just ok. It basically added a sauce to prevent anyone having to perform the heimlich maneuver. 5. Seafood rice dish- this taste like the corner store Chinese food. It was made with soy sauce and eggs. There were 2 overcooked mussels on the plate with shrimp and calamari inside the rice mound. It was salty. I guess it would be ok if I was in a Chinese restaurant. We were given a dessert on the house. I was tuned out at this time. My friends said it was ok. Overall, I was unhappy with the meal. I personally will not return. If you have egg allergies, make sure to talk with your server before ordering. read more

Wow, what a place. The Ceviche was outstanding, the flavor combos were so well balanced. You get a nice plate of raw Basa with pickled onions, cilantro and a soup of lime juice. Truly delicious. The fish was tender, and I only wished it was sea bass rather than Basa. I also recommend their Marino Trio. This is a triple appetizer combo that comes with the ceviche, as well as fried calamari, and a grilled octopus tentacle over a pile of mashed potato and avocado. At $38, it was worth it! The Octopus was a bit rubbery though, but everything else was great. I think their grilled Shrimp over guacamole topped tostones was also good. Very light, simple dish, big portion, and reasonably priced. My favorite however is their crab cakes, loaded with lumped crab, lightly spiced, and topped with a heaping pile of pickled red onion and pico di gallo! read more

Birthday dinner for wife. Ceviche was very good, but the standout of the night was the appetizer special of shrimp and over tostones. Drinks were great, but very pricey,even taking into account the high food inflation. Owner was clearly proud of the food, and was bringing food himself to the tables. They were definitely short staffed in this post COVID,labor shortage world. The poor bartender was taking all orders, mixing drinks and waiting tables. All on an early Sunday evening. I ordered the lunch special 1/4 chicken with rice and salad ($9.50). Instead of regular rice, I asked to be upgraded to chaufa de pollo and was charged $12. It wasn't until I drove off that I realized the salad that comes with the combo was missing, so I drove back (bummer). My salad was a no-go after pouring the dressing it came with it on. It had a black pepper taste that I wasn't a fan of. The chaufa was uncomfortably salty, with or without the green sauce. I drank about 2 glasses of water just to wash it down. The chicken was the only item I could say was good about this platter, but even that was just above average. I finished the chicken but about half the rice made it into the garbage. I went here on a whim one night when I was both in the need for a quick meal, and in the mood to celebrate Peruvian restaurant week. When I walked in, the owner was an absolute gentleman. He explained what they do best and made recommendations. I went with the whole chicken and fries, as well as some chicken empanadas. For dinner on a Wednesday Night, we only ordered Huancaina for appetizer, Mixto Ceviche & Whole Chicken (comes with salad and rice). Total costs is $81. I do remember Mixto Ceviche at $23. I guess grabbing already eaten chips from another table and bring the same chips to another table is ok and don't you fret the owner of the establishment will talk to your mother in a very nasty way telling her what she saw with her own eyes isn't true. we even had the table that allows you to see the kitchen which is also across from the bathroom. Unfortunately it was too late for us to find another place as most places in the area closes early. The server messed up our order not once but 3 times. I have been coming to this restaurant since it was at another location, a long time. This location is bigger and accomadating. The owner is very hands on, super friendly and welcoming. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. I visit very often with friends and family. Everyone enjoys the experience and food. The food and drinks are delicious. The presentation of both is also great. I use to have the same meal all the time, the Peruvian chicken (Pollo ala Brasa) and the fried rice (arroz chaufa) which is always delicious. But I have been exploring other meals on the menu and have been very satisfied with all that I have tasted so far. The Parrillada is tasty and can feed four people, good for sharing. It includes chicken, steak, sausage, shrimp, lobster, and served on a ceramic pig, great presentation for posting. My favorite appetizers are the Shrimps on tostones with guacamole and the calamari, delish. I recently tried the Seafood Trio which includes grilled octopus, ceviche, and fried calamari, amazing. Other dishes I enjoy are the Loma Saltado, and Tallarines Saltado, the steak in both dishes is always tasty and tender. I recently visited and had the Skirt Steak with Shrimp, the steak was cooked perfect. My friend had the Jalea Mixta (fish and seafood dish) which he loved. Me and a group went here for dinner and thought it was ok. Seems there was a language barrier with the waitress because to start I asked for the ceviche and got a huge bowl of cubed fish. Then asked for the short ribs for the main course and said they were sold out of it. Our reservations were at 6pm don't see how that can happen that early. So had to settle for seafood paella . Granted the food was good but was difficult trying to under stand the waitress with a thick accent. Also the portion were huge so I had a buck to take home. Would go back and try it again, hopefully with less issues. This place moved from the clove road address and took the place of a local pizzeria . Had a good time with friends .
