It saddens me to write such a review since we love the Waldorf but the restaurant really fell short. We did the $200 per person set menu. The service was mediocre. The location was really great. The main course was good but I noticed my husband's shrimp was not cooked through after he ate a big piece. That was a mistake because he paid for it after we returned to the room. The other dishes were nothing special and they all lacked refinement. They tasted average at best and this was probably our least favorite meal in Cabo, yet the most expensive.
Great location, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The dinner was ridiculously overpriced, the service was mediocre, and it felt like they were taking full advantage of the location rather than focusing on the overall experience. For me, this is definitely a once-and-done experience. It's a shame that such a beautiful location isn't in the hands of people who value honesty, quality, and good service.
Worth a trip if you're in Cabo and are looking for a nice place to celebrate a special occasion or just to splurge a little. As long as you know what you're getting into and are aware that this place is for the ambiance, location, and service and not the food you'll have a lovely time. I had researched some of the best places to have a sunset seaside dinner when I was in Cabo and chose this one because it seemed to have the upscale, quiet and classy vibe I was looking for. El Farallon is located within the Waldorf Astoria and you will need to have a reservation in order to be let in the gates if you're getting dropped off by an uber or cab. For ladies wearing heels, it is a loooong walk from the main entrance of the resort to the restaurant and an even longer one back after you've eaten so beware. Once you check in they seat you at a champagne bar before taking you to your table and be aware you will feel pressured to get a drink. I knew I wanted champagne in advance so it was no surprise. We had a lovely table right next to the water and when the waves crash and wind hits just right sometimes you may feel a little mist, but the view is lovely. Try to look up what time the sun sets on the day you want to go and book an hour before that so you get the full sunset. The food was usually how it is at these places where you pay for the scenery- very expensive and pretty mid. There is a set menu where you choose your entree and the sides are all the same for everyone or you can add extra. All I remember is the additional oysters we ordered were nice and fresh. The service was very attentive. We got to watch sea turtles being released on the shore below us. Overall, I would come back to bring someone I loved who had never been there for the experience. It's nice if you want an isolated, classy place by the sea in Cabo to enjoy a meal that doesn't have a noisy, crowded, or party vibe but you will pay for that environment. Bill came out to $400+ for 2 after drinks, food, and service charge.
If you want to impress your date; bring her here. If you want to make a statement proposal; bring her here. This place has the wow factor. Drinks are amazing; dessert was to die for. Ambiance was unbeleivable; watch the ocean waves crash into the cliff rocks. Enjoy the night out on the beach cliff with the fixed menu. The service is great; friendly and very helpful service. Price is on the high side for Mexico but you'll never forget it.
So first thing. This is in the Waldorf Astoria hotel. The gate attendant was sort of a pain. Nowhere does it say reservations only we had to sit at th gate to try and make an open table reservation, which didn't go through so we called and made a reservation. It's 3pm. They just opened. Of course when we got in we were the only people there. The staff said we didn't need reservations. So not sure if I was our crap uber or my Girlfriend who was on that side that he decided to profile... anyway. The view is amazing. The staff was ultra friendly. We just came for some oysters and champagne which was great. The champagne tasting was $100/person and they did a salt pairing. Wasn't something I've had so it was good. 3 tastes and 3 salts. We had some oysters which were decent, for the price I'd say they should have been a better option they weren't anything special and for almost $50 for 5 they should have been. But the view. You pay for it. And you will. Out total was about $450 which included their 15% mandatory tip (tacky for a place of this price but hey maybe people go there and get sticker shock and don't tip) and another 15% on top - my urge on forced gratuity is to leave it at that, but that view. Food smelled great. View is amazing. Oysters were the same as the stuff that the marina for less. Still a great time.
stunning cliff side atmosphere ! our experience included a choice of entree with appetizers and dessert included. a few additional sides as well as cocktails were added to complete the dinner. service is attentive but could improve. i always appreciate being asked if anything is needed before departing from the table. this eliminates me having to make request. food is good but you are really paying for the atmosphere.
Dinner at El Farallon - Worth It for the Sunset & Service Reservation & Arrival We booked for 6:15 PM but arrived around 5:30 to catch the sunset. The host seated us in the waiting area first where you can order drinks while watching the ocean. Sunset Views By 5:45 the sun started setting, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. Honestly, this alone makes the place worth visiting at least once. Food Experience The main course price includes appetizer, soup, and dessert. * Soup was tasty * Bread was fresh and good * Ordered: Bluefin tuna & Red Snapper (both decent, but not mind-blowing) * Dessert: Chocolate mousse (my favorite!) + another dessert my husband ordered The mousse with nuts was especially delicious. Pacing Service is elegant but very slow. They truly take their time -- we were hungry waiting for each course Total dinner lasted about 2.5 hours. Service Top-tier. Staff constantly checked in and made sure everything was perfect. Price After tax and tip, total came out to a little over $300. Tip Once the sun sets, it gets chilly fast. Bring a light jacket! Overall Food: 4/5 View: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Experience: Worth it just for the scenery and atmosphere. I'd come back again for the sunset alone.

I mean an insanely beautiful setting, there is no denying that! And a champagne terrace? Love! I enjoyed a lovely glass of champagne on the terrace. We were there in January so the sun was well past set by the time we arrived. Once we were seated it took a very long time to see the menu board. While our waiter had brought it out previously, it just say there unlit and turned around until he could come back over. We ended up. being the last people in the restaurant because everything felt a bit delayed. There is a limited pre-set menu, with their ocean to plate concept. I wasn't thrilled with the fish/side accompaniments. I don't know, they just weren't jumping out to me that evening. We started with the soup of the day and I will say it was probably the best soup I have ever eaten, so delicious! The trio of appetizers was okay. My fish was cooked perfectly, I just didn't love how it was prepared (bacon and sauerkraut). I probably just picked wrong, since nothing was really jumping out. My friend did get the tuna and ate every single bite up. So maybe it was just an off evening for me and too late to really enjoy the dinner.

The hubby and I typically have one nice dinner every vacation, so I planned in advance. Not sure how hard it would have been to get a rezzie closer to the date, but it was a breeze with the concierge that far out. Please note, all prices above are in USD, tho we ended up paying in pesos since the conversion benefited us with a fee free CC. Since we were doing a super late bday celebration, we just ordered whatever we wanted. Before they take you to your table, they do sit you down in their bar type area and ask if you want a glass of bubbles. Of course I did, so got the one above. The view here is gorgeous. We sat at a little table facing the water until they came to get us for our actual dinner. The dinner table had the same view. We caught a bit of light before the sun set, so I advise an earlier meal if you want to enjoy the ambiance. It's just dark once the sun goes down. Every time I do a somewhat fancy meal, wine pairings are priced at least $150+. When I saw it was $95 here, I just decided to go for it. They do offer a premium one for $155. The standard pairing came with 4 different pours - Codorniu Clasico, Pedregal Zinfandel Rose, Rhone Blend, Mistela. I always like trying new wines. And it was nice the last three were local. Food wise, everything was fine. For the price, the food didn't really blow me away, but they plated it nicely. This fish was probably my fav as it was still silky and came on a bed of rice and curry. The hubs loves rice, so he definitely enjoyed this one. Overall, you are paying for the beauty of the resto more than anything else. Each entree did come with a popover and some olive type of spread / dip, soup, a trio of apps - salad, fish tartare, some kind of fried dumpling, and dessert. They were so sweet and also gave us a bday dessert. Much appreciated. Service here was awesome! They charge the standard 15% service charge, but we ended up tipping on top of that. we had various people helping us out throughout the meal and they were all super friendly and attentive. El Farallón in Cabo was amazing with a crazy beautiful ocean view and super fresh seafood. The pre-fixe menu made the whole experience feel great and definitely full. The pasta on the pre fix was great.
This is a gorgeous restaurant and I'm coming back during the day to enjoy the beauty of the ocean. You have to start out at the champagne bar which is extremely romantic and also exorbitantly expensive. We were seated and ordered so much food. I just wanted an appetizer but we ended up ordering entrées, I didn't really like mine because the tuna was way too fatty. I did enjoy the tomato soup which was kind of a palate cleanser in between courses. They did cater to my gluten-free and cheese free needs so that was nice! We had fireworks while eating dinner which was super cool. I think they knew it was my birthday dinner! The sax player was super annoying so thank God he finished screeching by 9:30 PM. They should hire a guitar player instead which enhances the mood. Overall, I would say it's overpriced but it's a cool experience!!

Attentive, friendly, and professional in every way. Food: 10/5 Every dish was outstanding. Fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. You can feel the quality and passion behind the menu. View & Atmosphere: 10/5 Stunning ocean views, relaxing ambiance, and a perfect setting for a special occasion or a romantic evening. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel transported. Overall, a remarkable restaurant that gives you an experience you want to come back to again and again. We will definitely be returning!

El Farallón is, without question, one of the most beautiful restaurants in Cabo. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, the setting is absolutely breathtaking and incredibly romantic. The views are the real reason to come. That said, I left disappointed considering the price. At roughly $800 per person prepaid, I expected a much more luxurious dining experience. The seating and tables felt surprisingly casual and lacked the upscale details you'd expect at this level. The tasting menu is heavily seafood-focused, which wasn't ideal for me, but I do appreciate that they happily accommodated my request and substituted another entrée. The service was excellent throughout. Unfortunately, the food and cocktails simply weren't memorable. Everything was good, but nothing stood out enough to justify the cost. Also, if you're wearing heels, be prepared for a rocky walk to the restaurant. If experiencing one of Cabo's most spectacular views is your priority, it's worth visiting once. For me, though, the scenery was the highlight not the dining experience, and I wouldn't return at this price. read more
As a yelp Elite We really wanted to love this place. The setting is stunning -- one of the most beautiful locations we've dined at -- and as frequent diners (and lifetime Hilton Diamond members), we came in with high expectations for the tasting menu and $180 wine pairing. Most of the food was above average, and presentation was consistently well done throughout the courses -- the tuna sashimi, shrimp falafel, and sea bass were all nicely plated. The mango crémeux dessert was a highlight. Unfortunately, the jumbo shrimp in the main course was overcooked, which was disappointing on a dish paired with wagyu strip loin. Where the evening really fell short was service. For an $1,100 dinner with wine pairings, we expected polish and attentiveness -- instead, basics were missed, including our water glasses going unfilled for extended stretches throughout the meal. The location and ambiance are hard to beat, but the gap between the price point and the level of service was too significant to ignore. We won't be returning. read more
Nestled on the cliff side of the Waldorf Astoria hotel, is the exclusive El Farallon restaurant. They are known for their seafood. It's fine dining with some of the best ocean views in the world. You are literally dining right in front of the ocean with waves coming up to your table. To get the best pictures, I recommend coming by late afternoon until sunset. Service was excellent. There are plenty of servers around. Everyone was friendly and professional. The food was fresh and tasty. Definitely expensive (about $100 per person) but you are paying for the fresh seafood and stellar views. If you are coming with little ones, they have a kid friendly menu as well. Tip: it's often windy here so I recommend bringing a coverup or light jacket. They also provide blankets if needed. read more

The atmosphere of this restaurant is spectacular. Such a lovely place to have drinks and take photos of yourself at. My dining experience however just wasn't impressive. I really didn't like anything except the desserts. This is the spot everyone comes to for their birthday. They sung happy birthday to three other tables including myself, I know they get tired of singing it lol. The server did take amazing photos of me so I truly appreciate that. The Waldorf Astoria is gorgeous though I'll have to stay there when I come back to Cabo. read more

This may have been the best restaurant I've ever been to. Just the walk down to the restaurant from the hotel is lovely. It's quiet, serene, you can hear the waves. The view once you get to the restaurant is like no other! I recommend booking a reservation right around the time of sunset. Once you get to the restaurant you are first sat in front of the water and sunset and are offered champagne while your table gets ready. Once ready, you are escorted to your table! The food and drinks are so good. The meal comes with an appetizer, soup and dessert when you pay for your entrée. I got the sea bass and it was probably the best fish I've ever had! The soup was delicious too. Service is amazing, and there was a live violinist. I would definitely recommend dining here, even if you aren't staying at the Waldorf! read more

Food: 9.5/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 My boyfriend took me to this restaurant for my birthday and I've gotta say -- it was an INCREDIBLE experience -- did not disappoint ONE bit!! From the gorgeous scenery (I mean, what else can you expect from a restaurant built into a cliffside on the ocean/water in Cabo?) to the jazzy live music they had a 2-person band playing, from the impeccable service of wait staff waiting on your every need to the crazy fresh meal PERFECTLY paired to their wine pairing offering, I was giddy & smiling a HUGE smile the entire time! We opted for the wine pairing w/o champagne and we thought that one was perfectly set to the meal. I am SO glad my boyfriend encouraged me to order it! It was actually quite a bit of food so I ended up taking some of it home -- and it was just as fresh the very next day. Now THAT is FRESH. At the end of our meal, they offered to take us by golf cart to the entrance of the hotel so we could continue our night (drinks at a rooftop bar in downtown Cabo), and I would HIGHLY recommend taking them up on this offer if you're not staying in the hotel -- it's a gorgeous little ride through a tunnel of the mountain/cliffside with just the most magical lights hanging from the ceiling, accompanied by fire torches on either side of the tunnel. From start to finish, our experience here was truly magical & perfect. It's a night I won't forget -- go there, you won't regret it! read more

JUST OK. The reason this rating is so low is because we were charged almost double the cost of our dinner to the room. BEWARE AND MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CHARGES if you stay at the Waldorf. Initially, I had the scallops (which has included appetizers) and a mocktail, my husband had the sea bass. In the end the bill came out to about $250. But on the room charges, we were charged $237.00 TWICE and charged for 2 drinks at $21.00 each. Meaning they charged us $500 when we had signed the check for $250. How insane is that?! Anyways- they refunded us the money so it's fine but I'm very curious as to how many guests don't look over their charges and are being up-charged like this! Back to the food: overall I'd say the seafood was the best choice to get here, the appetizers were all just ok, but the scallops and sea bass were so fresh and tender I think it was actually worth the cost with the beautiful views. Overall, this was definitely a more upscale restaurant in Cabo, the waiters and waitresses are very accommodating and attentive, and service was great. I do think that LA is on a different level in terms of fine dining, but El Farallon did a great job. The views and ambiance are really what you pay for. Not sure if we'd come back but it was a memorable experience for sure. read more
Amazing, spectacular view of the ocean with a beautifully prepared meal. With a reservation for 8 made prior, we were able to enjoy dinner at El Farollon which is located inside the Waldorf Astoria resort. Once you check in you're offered the champagne menu, if you get an entire bottle they uncork it with a saber! The staff is very kind and thoughtful and once your table is available they will walk you over. For dinner, you're presented with a choice of seafood for your entree. Everything else is preselected. Staff was very aware of our party's allergies and accommodated accordingly. Food was delicious and overall was a good experience. I wish there were more nuances in the dishes as a few flavors felt overused. There was live music playing the night we went and the band was so amazing, honestly made the dinner that much more special. Had a wonderful time here! Will be back. read more
We were staying at the hotel and I made sure to make reservations well in advance. I wanted to make sure we were there for the sunset. Upon arrival, the hostess sat us down at the champagne terrace where we enjoyed views of the ocean. They had a champagne menu with quite a few options. We each got a glass and enjoyed a few sips until we were taken to our table overlooking the ocean. The views were breathtaking. Hearing the waves down below was a wonderful soundtrack.. The food was delicious. The potions were not HUGE but it was more than enough... I left full and did not finish everything. The dinner service was not rushed at all. We started with bread service (yummm). I ordered the shrimp and my husband ordered fish. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted so good. For dessert, we each had mousse, there were two types (I preferred the chocolate mousse). The service was outstanding. The staff knew we were celebrating our anniversary, so they brought us a special treat and made sure to tell us happy anniversary. Overall an amazing and very memorable meal. read more

Came here for my son's birthday and OMG the prepped restaurant I have ever been too. Right in the cliffs by the ocean. When we got there they had live music until about 9. The food was amazing like Michelin star and set 4 course meal. At the end they bright out a sparkler and sang Happy Birthday to my son. Is it pricey yes but is it worth it to go at least once definitely. read more

Beware. Go to the hotel for a drink and sit at the bar area to if you want to have a drink and watch the sunset ( a sunset you can see from a 1,000 locations all over Cabo" but I doubt you will. They want a premium for the view. And the food and punctuality take a back seat to the EXORBITANT over charged and then underdeliver. Even though this is a Waldorf property, this restaurant has taken overpriced underperforming, underwhelming, tourist trap "turn & burn" to a whole new level. This place was WILDLY expensive. I'm not a stranger to very expensive or overpriced restaurants but this restaurant was in a league of its own. 1- the food was well below average for its cost. The sea bass was $95 per person and we probably should have shared one order. It's was undercooked in the middle and overcooked & chewy on the surface. It's was likely not seasoned at all (salt/pepper) as it was EXTREMELY bland as well. The soup was good. Nothing exceptional for the cost. The salad was a bust. Again per the cost there should have been some effort. It's was nonsense thrown on a plate to share. 100 each, $200 and we have to share a loudly salad? The brownie dessert was inedible. Gross. The birthday cake w/ sprinkles would have been good if it wasn't dry on the inside. I feel like it want supposed to be. 2- we arrived early to see the sunset, wasn't until then that we were told that we could only arrive 20 mins early. Needless to say they were 1/2 hour + late seating us and we missed the sunset by at least 30 mins. So for spending as much as we did not only did we not get to enjoy the sunset (the entire reason for the reservation) but the food was dismal and completely disappointing. What a huge let down. I have been to some crappy overpriced restaurants but this has to be one of the worst. Everything felt forced and rushed AND they were 40-50 mins behind. Service was fine. View might have been nice but we missed it. They should tell you about not being able to arrive early for the sunset because they don't allow you to. They should also not charge me $70 for a glass of champagne when the bottle is $50. I understand about liquor profits and all that but that just added insult to injury with the horrible overpriced food that was to follow. The tequila was good though. Shameful. read more

This restaurant is absolutely breathtaking and beautiful in every single way possible. I will never stop raving about this place as it was me and my mom's favorite experience in Cabo. We made a reservation weeks before for 5:00pm. We arrived and we're seated in their waiting area, overlooking the ocean. It took a while to get us a table, even though we were one of the first ones there, but we didn't mind because we were too busy taking pictures lol. They even offer you a glass of wine or champagne while you wait. All the tables are outside on the edge of the cliff. You can hear the waves crashing on the rocks while you're eating and listen to the live music they have at 7pm daily. For the dinner itself, they come and explain the menu to you. The menu revolves each day depending on the catch of the day. A lobster tail was about $250 USD but they were huge. We ended up deciding on the shrimp. Was it 4 pieces of shrimp for $100 USD each? Yes... but was it worth it? Also yes! The food included a 4 course meal, we had clam chowder, appetizers, main course, and dessert. All were amazing. Note that there is a 15% service charge and tip is not included. We ended up spending around $330 USD with tip for 2 people. If you have extra to spend on dinner, this place is a highly recommended! read more

My husband and I have been coming to El Farallon for years and our favorite thing is the Champagne Terrace. This last trip was just to the Terrace and not for dining so I can't speak for that. Simon is the main reason we always come because his knowledge and background on champagne is unmatched. He just makes you feel like you stepped into France with how he describes each champagne and the elements that make it unique. Also, they do a fantastic job of instructing clientele how to use the different salts to bring out the best aspects of each champagne. I ordered the flight and while it isn't cheap, you will appreciate the experience and the quality. I recommend getting here for sunset because the views are unmatched in Cabo. I can't wait to return in 3 months. read more

Food was honestly horrible. So underwhelming, unflavored and honestly very American washed. It was disappointing but the views were absolutely incredible. Just go to the bar and get a drink to see the views / sunset. I highly recommend you do not eat here. We tried multiple things and I was still very hungry after we left cause I didn't enjoy the food. We had such an amazing dining experience here. We came for the views and left impressed with their amazing service and delicious food. The place also gets booked up, so I recommend make a reservation well in advance. Upon arrival, they sit you down in their champagne lounge, while they get your table ready. You get decent view of the ocean, but we were not interested in champagne. Quickly soon after they take you to your table with more fantastic views of the ocean. My wife and I both ordered a cocktail to start our night off. We both ordered their Chipotle and Peach. It came with Mezcal, orange liquor, maple and chipotle sauce, mango purée and a couple of peach slices. The drink was very delicious. I did want to order another one but the food came kind of quick so never got a chance to. They don't give out paper menus, instead they have a guy walk around with a chalk board stand with and English and Spanish menu. He literally goes through the entire menu and describes everything in fine detail. He really did a fantastic job. Although the prices seem a little high, I had to remind myself that the price also includes a soup, trio of appetizers, your main entree & two sides and a dessert. So essentially a four course meal for around $100 USD is really not bad at all. They started us off with their soup of the day. I honestly don't remember the name of it, but it tasted very similar to a clam chowder. Really nice presentation with them pouring the soup into the bowl for you. The trio of appetizers were a ceviche, a salad and a two fried balls. The ceviche was delicious and tasted very fresh. My wife ordered their Huachinango "Red Snapper" with a side of Penne Pasta. The red snapper was really good, but Penne Pasta with pesto sauce was nothing to rave about. I ordered their Cabrilla "Sea Bass" with a side of Rissoto and roasted tomato with blue cheese crust on top. Both sides were very delicious, and the Sea Bass was cooked to perfection. Everything tasted fresh and very delicious. The dessert was also exceptional. I can definitely see myself returning next time I'm in Cabo. read more

This place did not disappoint one bit! If you're looking for high-quality food that truly delivers, this is it. From the stunning view and ambiance to the impeccable attention to detail, every element is thoughtfully curated. The staff's recommendations were spot on, and I had some of the best tuna I've ever tasted. Everything works in perfect harmony, creating an unforgettable dining experience. Ending my day in Cabo here was absolutely perfect--I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The immersive scenery and the delightful champagne wait room were just the icing on the cake. 10/10 in my book. You have to try it--worth every penny. read more

Gorgeous dinner here! Went with a group of friends for a bday dinner and we had an amazing time! I ordered the fish with the curry sauce and I loved it. Drinks were amazing too! The service was A+ and the hotel staff were so friendly . Loved it! read more
Do you want dinner with a fabulous view? Do you want to converse with the sea spraying across your table and the wind blowing your hair around in the summer sun? Are you a fan of champagne bars and stellar service? AND do you want to drop a cool grand on dinner for four? Then this is your restaurant and know that you are definitely paying for the view (and prob that tunnel the Waldorf made through the cliffside). El Farallon is the perfect place to celebrate an occasion in an extraordinary way! You have a beautiful walk through the bar area and can see the fresh fish and seafood that will be prepared. The whole experience is WOW. We ordered shrimp to start with since they were giant in the display and my brother in law got eager eyes and wanted to try them, lol. They were delicious! Were they 4 for $60 or so delicious? Probably not. But if you're going to splurge, do it right. Note that you get complimentary starters and little desserts with your meal. There were plenty of fresh fish options which are listed each night on the board. Choose two sides with each entree. The sides like the risotto and mac n cheese were creamy and buttery. I would have prefered steamed veggies and a cucumber salad with my albacore. We also got additional sauces with the fish making it a pretty rich and heavy meal. We finished our family dinner off with a delicious tres leches cake (we had pre-ordered for my sister's birthday). It was an absolute winner and nicely decorated with fresh berries. We even took it home to finish. The only bummer here were the cocktails. Skip them because they were weak and unimaginative. Wine would have been a better choice. Overall, it was quality seafood and great service. A spot to remember! I wouldn't just eat here because you're hungry and want to visit the Waldorf on a whim ;) read more

Such an experience from the moment you walk in. The restaurant sits atop the rocks so you hear the waves all evening long (a warning that under some circumstances and rough seas the waves will crash up on the restaurant). They start you at the champagne bar then take you to your dinner which includes a starter, appetizer and desert with the purchase of an entree. I found this to be very unique in the area. I got the fillet which was melt in the mouth delicious (one of the best I've ever had) and I would highly recommend. The service is outstanding, always checking on you but never rushing you (one of the reasons I love Cabo!). Our waiter Eric along with the whole staff was amazing and we will definitely be back! read more
