Great service and good value lobster. The ambience is a throwback to the 80's in Tijuana decorated w sports pendants so bring your to add. Complementary chips and salsa. Guacamole was V generous. Worth the trip to downtown Cabo
I will admit when I saw pictures that I didn't think it was gonna fill me up, but the serving is just a good amount of food! I love how the butter comes out with a candle to keep warm. Maro even provided ice bags for our table because it was so hot! The ceviche and the guacamole were absolutely delicious. They also have a signature drink called the bulldog that I didn't get but it looked so delicious! Would definitely come back here. They also had so many college flags that people were signing that really made you feel included to see your Alma mater. If you bring your flag I'm sure they will let you hang it up!

This place, specifically the House Special, was recommended by a friend before I left for the trip. I stopped here to try it out and super happy I did. The Special's ( food & drink ) were worth it. The "HOUSE SPECIALTY: DELICIAS DE CAMARON" was my favorite meal of the whole trip. I was sold from the first sight. I could have eaten two more. The place was empty when I went, it was pretty early, basically the beginning of lunch. The service was great, something I got use to at every place in Cabo. I highly recommend stopping here and trying both house specials
Went to Maro's over 8 years ago. Thought it was a good find for reasonable cost of steak/lobster. Had to try again. The steak was much bigger/thicker than what we remembered. Lobster was juicy and still yummy. So much food, we didn't get more rice nor veggies. Waiter was friendly. So glad we went back. I remember it being open, so they added a roof type cover now. During the day time, it would provide coverage. We went for dinner so it wasn't a bother. Other groups were encouraging their house drink. Definitely one to try.
What can you say that hasn't been said about Maro? The place is one of the biggest hidden gems in Cabo. Instead of going to some place that everyone goes to in the Marina that'll suck and be overpriced, take a right or left and roll up the street to this place. You will be happy you did. Their drink is the Bulldog. I got it and it's nice and consistent. Gets you going and starts the party. I get the medium shrimp each time I go and it comes with rice. It's plenty of food for me. They butterfly it perfectly and it's never, ever rubbery. My husband goes for the medium shrimp and lobster and never complains. They just know how to do it right. That's not easy when it comes to shellfish. They are very attentive and always happy there. Maro is an amazing host as well. Makes you feel like family. If you like sports, you're team will be represented here with a flag too most likely. Can't wait to return.
Be sure to come here! The seafood was so good/ fresh!! The restaurant is colorful and airy. Our server, Alex, was very cool and made us feel comfortable while waiting for our meals. We arrived minutes after opening, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We ordered jumbo shrimp /lobster with garlic butter. (Mouth watering while thinking back on our meals here!) There was an awesome guitar player who played 2 songs for us. On the wall, there is a challenge for competitors who can drink a certain amount of Bulldog drinks, im talking like 22 or so...geesh!! I could probably drink 4 but settled for one, and it gave me a nice buzz. I I highly recommend having at least one if you like adult beverages. Don't miss out going to Maros Shrimp House while in cabo you won't regret going!

Always a great time, but be realistic about expectations. It's a true hole in the wall sports bar. For $25 you get lobster and shrimp or steak. If you pull your steak off too soon it will be rare. Service was great, and the food is always dependable. Ask for more rice, side of beans and tortillas if you want a larger meal but this was perfect for me.
A true hole in the wall dining spot, so it's not for everyone... but it's been one of my favorite spots if you want a surf and turf combo. We've been coming here since the first time we discovered it back in 2008. We make it a point to visit at least once per trip to Cabo. Back then the "turf" was a ribeye. Not a thick cut but one of the most tender ribeyes I remember having. Now it's a NY strip steak and surf usually includes 2 lobster tails. They may do it by weight since last year i felt like it was 3 halves. Despite inflation, I still think it's a pretty good value and things are pretty consistent. Of about 16 dining experiences here, I can only think of one time where I felt the steak was a little overcooked and not seasoned enough. Anyway service is also consistent and their signature drink, the bulldog can come with a very suggestive "show" or presentation, so be openminded (but not proper for young kids) lol. Ambience is sports bar like, w/o the TVs! Lol They have various sport team flags and give you the option to sign them if you want. Last trip we finally got a picture with Maro when I noticed they are now on IG and have Yelp reviews previously I had provided a review for them on trip advisor. Maro is gracious enough to hang any group photos provided. I would recommend checking it out at least once.
We have been coming here for years and have always loved it. The lobster has been fresh, tender and mild in flavor and the shrimp has always been flavorful. Sadly it has taken a downward step. The lobster tasted like it had been frozen. It was a little tough and the flavor was not mild. I ordered the large shrimp and when they came I pointed out to our server they were smaller, not larger. He responded: "Those are the large ones." We had the 1/4 kilo and got two lobster tails. My daughter got the 1/2 kilo and got three lobster tails. It just didn't add up. The prices have gone up dramatically in the past two years and given the expensive price of beer and water bottles our group felt that it was no longer a great deal. One member of our group said she felt it was a rip-off. As an example, we order Guacamole and it came in a lump on a plate. No table side prep. It was the equivalent of one avocado and we paid $12 (dollars). Like I said, we loved this place but will no longer be going there on every visit to Cabo. Very disappointing.

A good traveler learns one thing fast: the best meals usually come from places that look like they might fail a beauty contest. That's exactly how you find Maro's Shrimp House. From the street it looks like a little hole-in-the-wall, the kind of spot you might almost miss if you're busy chasing fancy marina restaurants. But step inside and suddenly you're in on the secret. Open air, flags hanging everywhere, signatures on the walls from travelers who clearly had a very good night, and the kind of energy that says dinner might get a little rowdy. Now let's talk shrimp. Big, juicy, swimming in garlic, lime, butter, and Baja attitude. The kind of seafood that makes you stop mid-bite and look at your table like, "Yep... we picked the right place." If you love seafood with a Mexican twist, this place doesn't mess around. And then there's the legendary Bulldog drink. It's tequila, beer, citrus, and just enough mischief to make the table louder after the first round. Order one and you'll understand why people start signing their names on the walls like they just joined a Cabo fraternity. Bottom line: this isn't just dinner. It's a little Cabo adventure wrapped in garlic shrimp and cold drinks. If you want quiet elegance, go somewhere else. I have been coming to Maro's Shrimp House since I found it, probably on Tripadvisor at the time, way back in June 2016 and we make it a must on every trip to Cabo. Even when I was in Cabo on a cruise ship last Friday (11/28), had to hole up in my cabin on my laptop and work a half day (until 11am), missing out on my family's morning excursion all with a 1pm last tender call to get back to the ship... After my wife, mother-in-law, daughter & son's excursion with well reviewed Real Baja Tours (which I arranged separately instead of through the ship), all but my son were dropped off back at the ship as they wanted to skip out on the amazingness of Maro's. Yeah, I KNOW!! CRAZY!! The driver was nice enough to drop my son off at Maro's afterwards and the timing couldn't have been more perfect, just a few minutes before their 12pm opening time. Even though, we were a few minutes early, they gladly seated us right away. And very surprisingly, we were the only ones there for a good 20 minutes. From our very first visit in 2016, it is quite clear that the only things you need order is the shrimp and lobster which are fantastic...and THE BULLDOG (basically a giant schooner of margarita with an upended Coronita standing on its drowning head)...well, no Bulldogs for the boy. Service is very efficient and the friendly staff (despite not knowing too much English, except Maro himself, of course) is very attentive to any calls we had for refills of GARLIC WITH BUTTER (soooo much garlic, it was fantastic) & my dear, dear Bulldogs. Speaking of Bulldogs, they keep track of the most Bulldogs drunken in a sitting. I believe the current leader had 22...which is a superhuman feet because I was feeling quite FINE (read: tipsy) after my two. Also speaking of Bulldogs, on a visit in 2024, my kids, one friend of theirs and I witnessed a server giving 3 ladies a lapdance when they ordered one to share. Now that's service! Lol. Having told the staff we had to get outta there at 12:30pm, they delivered our wonderful meals very promptly and after first giving us totopos (tortilla chips) with two kinds of delicious salsa (well, a salsa and a pico de gallo). We each ordered the 1/4 kilo of lobster and 1/4 medium shrimp for $24.95 USD. (Note prices on the menu are conveniently in USD.) This was more than ample for one person but we prodded on and thoroughly enjoyed it, as always. With each plate, they serve the seafood with a very tasty rice pilaf and some pieces of squash or something I still can't figure out and after 2 Bulldogs, I completely forgot to ask about. They also give you a piping hot cup of that GARLIC WITH BUTTER served over a candle to keep hot which is brilliant. There is nothing worse than eating your giant platter of lobster and shrimp and the butter starts getting cold and becomes gluey and gloppy. That stuff is so good, we asked for another cup (and unlike American restaurants, it was free). On our visit in 2024, we actually got to meet Maro himself, took a picture with him, printed and framed it at home, brought it with us on the cruise and mounted it on the wall to the right of the L.A. Dodger flag, naturally. Since there wasn't any room left to write something with a provided marker, I added my DK to the bottom of the UCLA Bruin flag hidden near the back to the left. Oh, while you might think this place is a dingey dive by the look of the joint with its millions of marked up mostly collegiate flags lining the walls and rafters, the food makes it absolutely worth a visit...or two while you're in town. So save Edith's or Hacienda Y Cucina for the evenings (unless you want what I suspect would be a super fun & roudier crowd in the evenings). HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I've eaten at Maro's on my last two trips. I really enjoyed the food. Seafood was fresh. Maro loves college sports teams and has several flags. Maro loves Washington State Cougars!! read more

Stumbled upon this gem upon roaming the streets in Cabo. Their dinner deals caught our eye - $18.95 for any combo of steak, lobster, or shrimp. It was a generous portion of lobster and butterflied shrimp lightly seasoned with butter, and a dollop of rice. The steak was 8-10oz, was cooked to the perfect medium rare. For the price, we felt like we got a great deal. For our two entrees, and 4 Pacifico beers, our total was ~$60 USD. Don't forget to find your college flag on the wall, and try the famous bulldog drink! read more

Last night in Cabo and we ate here on the recommendation from a friend. Lots of sports flags hanging from the ceilings. 2 of us had the lobster, ny strip steak and shrimp special and another got the shrimp and steak- both were served with a little bit of rice. All were cooked well - the steaks came out sizzling hot on a cast iron plate and cooked perfectly medium. Chips and salsa were complimentary. The owner, Maro was there and treated us to a slice of the home made chocolate cake which turned out to be a Black Forest cake with cherries. Prices were very reasonable for the meals. Service was a little slow but it's Mexico and you are on vacation- so expected. read more

We found this place in 2014 and just now are back and went again and it was even better than we remembered it. We had an appetizer, 2 large cocktails, 2 sodas and an appetizer and our total was $110. The lobster and breaded shrimp were amazing - portions are big! The staff are incredible and it's so much fun! read more

domingo our waiter was great, friendly and honest. We had their $24.99 house special the NY steak with lobster tails and it was deliciously fresh ! The drinks are strong and tasty, had the Paloma and the bull dog and we left super happy. read more

Two friends and I came to Maro's Shrimp House for lunch after a dive. We were famished, and ordered different things. My friend and I ordered a lobster and shrimp platter, which was around ~$25-30 (the prices are in USD). There were a few pieces of lobster, a few shrimps, and some rice. While everything was delicious, the meal came out to ~$110 including tip, and the restaurant owner came by our table to greet us and request tip in cash. (I didn't particularly like the last part, although I've noticed a few drivers and restaurants ask for cash specifically or their tip.) While the food was fine, I thought it was really overpriced. We went to some other restaurants later in Cabo, and had better food for more people at lower prices. Just be aware - this place is a bit of a tourist trap. read more
