This was hands down the best burrito I have ever had, and one of the best deals as well! As you can see by the pictures, my pork chorbada burrito probably clocked in above a pound and was stuffed full of delicious pork and chorizo, with a super flavorful Spanish rice that somehow stood out from the meat and really packed some flavor. The best part is that you get all of that for just 8 bucks. I was also able to try the Fiji taco and Porky Adobo which were both absolutely stellar. Let's just say the camera didn't make it out before the taco was gone! Try the pineapple and tomatillo salsas they have at the window for a little extra flavor as well! A tip that's been said many times before: get here before noon if you want to get in line and have your food quickly! For non locals like myself this food cart is behind the car wash on Edison. It's a little cold outside and you have to sit at picnic tables. There is an overhang but the tables were still a bit wet from the rain. There is 1 patio heater still not enough warmth for this FoodDude. That said the burger I had was fantastic. On days when they are extremely busy, sometimes they run out of beef. This happened today when I'd ordered at 12:20 PM. I'm not crazy about pork but it was a decent alternative. So if you're on a 30 minute lunch break that starts at noon I would heed caution because you might not make it back on time. Loved the choice of sauces, I got the pineapple and two of the medium ones, wish I remembered what they were!! Coleslaw was not too slimey or sweet, which is great, often a problem with slaws. Had the HabaYaki beef burrito and 4 misc. salsas that they recommended (walnut, habanero, pineapple and mild). The burrito is a foot long and as big around as a beer can. Perfectly toasted on the grill, and absolutely stuffed with meat, rice, onion, cilantro and slaw. Heaven. No other word for it, really. And the salsas were each unique and delicious. Show up early if you can. The "Open" sign posts their hours and the words "or until sold out". Which they did today. I'd imagine with food this good, selling out early is a daily occurrence. read more

Everything was great tasting, especially the rice, which i think is often overlooked and really set off the rest of the great flavors. For the fourth year in a row, we detoured on our drive from Bend to Sandpoint to stop at El Fat Cat. And are we glad we did! Once again, all items we ordered were superb. Service is fast and courteous and the portions are ample. I highly recommend the HabaYaki burrito. Half sufficed for lunch and the balance was a great pre-ski breakfast. Also, I recommend the pineapple salsa. Best ever. We will be back next February on our annual cat ski trip. read more

The crew is full of the most thoughtful, loving, and personal people. I always try and tip and they will never let me (I always get away with it). They served my friends and I during school lunches all throughout high school and afterwards and they have created some of the best memories that I won't forget! Now, about the food: I've had the pork, steak, and chicken burritos, The Slick Rick burrito, The chicken street tacos, the Fatty Bowl, the quesadillas, and more. They ALL slap. Stopped by on the way to the grocery store. Had the feature item; Smoked Pork Loin Torta. Totally incredible!!! The meat was thin sliced and stack on the bun with shredded purple cabbage and some other "stuff". The meat was absolutely wonderful. My wife commented that she thought the sounds I was making while eating it made her think I was having an orgasm. It was THAT good! She had the coconut curry vegetables with chicken. I stole a bite. Much has happened since the last time I wrote a Yelp for El Fat Cat (EFC). With an energetic, colorful, and stylish restaurant, the Tri-Cities was gifted with something new. And the food. The food was the bomb. And then as suddenly as it appeared, EFC disappeared. And we weeped. But, it was not all dire. Rumors of a re-envisioned El Fat Cat stirred. The Tri-Cities was ready. El Fat Cat returned on the mobile tip. They were now a gourmet food truck. Yes, the Tri-Cities is the home of amazing authentic taco trucks, but the El Fat Cat Grill truck is a food trailer all its own. If you see the red trailer with the cartoon fat cat on it, point yourself toward it. Felix, the chef with magic cuisine, does not disappoint with the menu. The cuisine has a Latin base, but it's really a fusion, and something unique, different, and tasty. They have tacos, tortas, burgers, burritos, soups, and specials which will take your breath away. For me, I find myself always drawn to the tortas. I've loved taco truck tortas since the early '90s, so you might say I have a PhD in torta-ology. Felix's tortas are tasty because of the flava. Not "flavor". These tasty sandwiches got straight-up "FLAVA"! Whether it's the "Sweet Thang", "Triple Threat", or some other torta, they are bound to tingle the taste buds. Their shrimp burrito is pretty darn nice. The "Smokey Bandido" is a decent burger, and their tacos are also decent. If you can, check their Facebook page to see if they have any specials---I've seen some items here. You can also call your order ahead and have it ready for a quick pick up. As for location, their trailer is mobile, but it generally is situated in known places during the week. I loved it when the trailer was in Richland (super convenient, and probably not good for my waste line!) ;) Nowadays, their trailer is located on Edison St behind a car wash. There's some outdoor seating there, and it looks like a nice & steady home for EFC. Drop on by for some good food from Felix and a nice chat with his wife Jenny. You won't be disappointed. read more
