    Pollo Saltado

I haven't been to El Fogon for lunch specials before and I was thoroughly impressed. It's a very authentic Peruvian restaurant with a wide variety of cuisines. I decided to order the Pollo Saltado which is as chicken with onions, tomatoes, white rice and fries in a stir-fry type sauce. What I found really interesting is it also came with an appetizer of your choice on this menu which I ordered the yuca fries with a creamy dipping sauce. The food came out quick and was very fresh. Would definitely come back again for this same meal or try a different lunch combo.

Food Presentation = 1* Food Taste = 0.5* Ambiance = 0.5* Value for money = 1* Service = 1* We went here on our family friends recommendation. We tried the chicken chaufa, civeche, Jalea mixta, and Shrimp soup. Paired it with Pisco sour & finished the meal with an Alfajores. Their chaufa is good and rest is definitely worth a try. I think I'll be trying other dishes & a repeat of chaufa.

First time visiting and upon reaching the restaurant and entering, I enjoyed the way the tables and booths were arranged along the sides and the "kitchen area" occupied the center of the shops- I just liked this layout. We were cordially greeted and our waitress tended to our needs and was very good with recommendations for available options. We did note that several of the offerings were not available at different points of our meal- they were out of anticuchos: but she recommended the "virreinato del pulpo" that was absolutely soft and phenomenal! They didn't have tartar sauce but she brought us several hot sauces and it worked out... and with our main choice that was the taster plate "degustación peruana" we asked for huancaina sauce and we got a small container (that was billed separately for $5). There was no bread for the table- but they did put some "canchita peruana" (fried corn delicious" The food was all nicely seasoned and smartly plated. The portion sizes were generous! I was disappointed that the desert variety was so slim (only 3 options 2 of which were "tres leches"-type...) but our waitress explained that come the weekend, they sell out of many things so on Tuesday they have not restocked yet... oh well. We were full anyway! Oh did I mention they had Pisco sours?? And yes, they were very yummy!! Enjoy We certainly did!

Tonight's experience was definitely out of the ordinary for this place. Since my first visit, I've returned numerous times for take out. This evening I WAS STARVING when I arrived (which no doubt played a role). Placed my order for Chicharron de Pescado for my kid and my normal Pescado Saltado. I placed my order at 6:59 pm and then I sat down outside. I observed a couple walk in about 2 minutes after I ordered. They requested a table and were seated (you'll understand why I mentioned that later) After about 10 minutes, I went to the counter (because that's usually how long the food takes...they never tak). I wanted to ask for the green sauce instead of the tartar sauce for the fish. The girl at the counter told me no and that if I wanted the green sauce I needed to pay $1 for it (for the small size that usually comes in your bag of takeout with maybe a tablespoon of sauce inside) So I told her never mind but then I proceeded to watch them throw a green sauce into every bag that had take out. But the icing on the cake was, there was a woman standing beside me at the counter who had ordered a lomo Saltado. I walked outside and she exited right behind me and handed me the green sauce they had given her FOR FREE. So now im pissed because I also ordered a Saltado and the employee told me I don't get a sauce with mine. So of course, NOW IM HUNGRY & HANGRY AND IM ABOUT TO BE A BLAREN. Lol! So I ask for the manager and without any issue, he told her to add the green sauce in the bag with my order. Okay so I'm waiting and I'm waiting. I watch as numerous people who arrived well after me, leave with their order. Maybe they ordered online or something right? Because here I am 30 minutes later still waiting. But then I look over at the couple who were seated 2 minutes after I placed my order...just to see if they had food yet. Not only did they have their food, they were nearly done eating. The girls at the counter are addressing everyone and being extra friendly to everyone but my sauce fiasco must've ticked them off because I was non existent even though I was standing right there at the counter. Now I'm starting to show signs of impatience. The manager passes me and sees I'm still standing there and he says in Spanish "go check her order Chicharron de Pescado!" The girls walk off and return empty handed but still no one says anything to me. Just as I start craning my neck looking for the manager again, my food is placed on the counter in o be packaged up but both girls are busy doing nothing. One is off to the side looking at a receipt and the other is talking with one of the waitresses. Finally they come over after my food has been sitting there for a few minutes (felt like an eternity) and packages it up. I received food in hand at 7:44 pm!! The kicker? I ordered food from here two nights ago. But I didn't ask for sauce at all. When I got home and opened my bag, there was a red sauce, a green sauce and a white sauce AND a tartar sauce on that night. Tonight when I got home, I had ONE LONE GREEN SAUCE FILLED ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WAY UP. I ORDERED THE EXACT SAME FOOD TODAY THAT I ORDERED THEN. So what did I learn? Not to mention the sauces at all and let the cards fall where they may.

Checked out this local Peruvian restaurant tonight and wow were we impressed! All of the food items we tried were so full of flavor, from the fried avocado to the authentic Peruvian dishes. We went with a fried avocado for our appetizer which had a mixture of shrimp inside and guacamole on the side. I had the classic lomo saltado and it was amazingly delicious. We also had a chocolate flan that was so rich and tasty. The presentations for all the dishes were also very thoughtfully done. Service was great, friendly and attentive staff. We thought it was going to be a small place but they had a lot of booths and space for larger groups as well. Def a new place I'd like to go back to often!

This restaurant is awesome, I stopped there after an appointment. Our server Ale was friendly and explained the different lunch specials to us as well as the ingredients because we have some dietary restrictions. I am a big fan of ceviche and I love that you can get a smaller portion of ceviche as an appetizer and a larger entree with lunch. If you haven't tried the purple corn drink it's called chicha Morada. I highly recommend it! Service was fast and there was no wait, it was peaceful at that time of day with plenty of booths available. I also had the Papas a la huancaina, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't spicy. I do not handle spice well and most Peruvian restaurants make the ceviche and the Papas heavily spicy. I thoroughly enjoyed lunch and I will return again soon for dinner.

Food was delicious. I ordered El Pescado a lo Macho, which was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the chaufa de pescado which was good but we've had better. Service was exceptional. I highly recommend. Sorry I only took after pictures. I was too busy enjoying my food.

Excellent service, great food, feels like you're in Peru, and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

I tried the ceviche and my colleagues tried the chicken/beef with rice dishes. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Service was great for such a large party. The ceviche was delicious, very flavorful.

Came here for a work lunch and had a good time. Service was good, we had a large group and they kept track of all our meals and it all came out great.

Great place! Great food! Affordable wine! Super cute atmosphere. I love Peruvian food- as soon as I saw that they give complimentary canchita for the table I was sold. When I found this place, I knew I needed to try asap. My server was very nice. She kind of disappeared after i got my food, but everyone else there was happy to help too, and I did come late at night. Very nice overall. Thank you, El Fogon!

It was my first time here but my friend is a regular when in the area, I must say I'm glad I tried it. The fried rice is AMAZING! So flavorful, I couldn't imagine having it anywhere else at this point. Our server was friendly but honestly the food speaks for itself!

Risotto with lomo saltado, it was really good.

We went on saturday afternoon, I ordered rissoto with lomo saltado, it was really good, service was ok.

We started by sharing the scallops as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious--one of my favorite parts of the meal. They were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I wasn't really hungry, so I ordered the leche de tigre and it was incredibly satisfying--fresh, juicy, bright, lemony, and full of citrus flavor. I especially loved that fresh lime taste; it made the dish feel so vibrant. My friends ordered a few different entrées, and I got to try a little bit of everything. Everything looked amazing, but I especially loved the shrimp risotto. For dessert, the maracuyá cheesecake was completely out of this world--so divine. It paired perfectly with an Americano coffee and was the perfect way to end the meal. The one disappointment for me was the sangria. We all shared some, and unfortunately it tasted watered down, more like diluted wine than a true house-made sangria. I was really hoping for something fresher and more flavorful. Overall, I had a lovely experience. The food and dessert were definitely the highlights, and I would absolutely come back. Next time I'd love to try one of their cocktails and order a full entrée of my own.

I'm a big foodie and don't mind paying top dollar for a great meal, especially when it comes to Peruvian cuisine, which is one of my absolute favorites. Unfortunately, this place fell far short. The service lacked attention to detail from the start. We were given a tablet for the menu, but the first one didn't work. When we finally got a functioning one, it was difficult to navigate and honestly made the experience frustrating rather than enjoyable. The space is also very cramped. We had a stroller, and while arriving wasn't too bad since some tables were empty, leaving was a nightmare. No one offered assistance or made any effort to help us navigate out with a child. It felt unwelcoming and inconsiderate. As for the food, it was not worth the $126 bill. We ordered a ceviche and a chaufa. The chaufa was overly greasy and didn't seem properly prepared. We requested shrimp and fish but were only given fish - and were charged an additional $9 for it. On top of that, our drinks arrived last, and I had to repeatedly ask for water and even a spoon so I could feed my baby some rice. I felt bad doing so because the food was simply not good. Overall, this was a very poor experience, and I would not recommend it. Save your money and go somewhere else.

If you arrive during their Lunch Special, I recommend doing it as you get an appetizer, entrée and a drink with your order. Certain items are excluded from this special but it is noted on the menu. I was luck to arrive during to lunch special which I ordered Papa a la Huancaina. This yellow, creamy sauce over potatoes had so much flavor and the right amount of heat that I was scrapping every drop sauce off the plate before handing it over. For my entree, I ordered the Linguini a la Huancaina w/ chicken. This overall dish was super delicious. The chicken is flatten when cooked and the pasta to Huancaina sauce portions are perfect for each bite. Ceviche was order by my co works order which I recommend everyone to try at least once at Peruvian restaurant. For someone who is not a fan of fish or certain seafood, Peruvian ceviche is made a certain way to mask that fishy/ seafood flavor. You get this acidic, yummy bite from lime juice and onions that are included. I do recommend bringing some kind of jacket or coverup because the inside of the restaurant was very nice but extremely cold. I saw many parties chose to sit outside after being sat inside due to the temperature. Also the bathroom location, there is a hallway near the bar you will need to walk down to get to it. Smells like fresh limes walking down the hallway and is very clean but can be a tad confusing looking for it generally.

I ordered a pisco sour that was perfectly made. My appetizer was a fish and shrimp ceviche: the leche de Tigre was soooo fresh and well balanced, I absolutely loved it. Main course I was pleasantly surprised to see there was an option of a plate with half tallarines verdes and half lomo saltado (the menu says "steak" and you can choose how you'd want it); I've never seen this kind of split-a-plate before so I thought I'd be perfect because you get to try two things, it's a great value. Both the tallarines and the lomo were flavorful. I just wished there was some way to keep the juices from the lomo away from the tallarines because at the bottom of the plate the pasta tasted like lomo, not like pesto hahaha -still, yummy-. Against by best judgement and my capacity I ordered dessert and the dulce de leche was a little too sweet for me (I couldn't finish it) but I ordered a coffee too, that helped. The staff was on point; I loved they were always checking on us (and the place was almost full) and I also noticed they use intercoms so they are always making each other aware of what a table needs. The owner (or manager, not sure) is very sweet and greeting all customers. The bar service seems to be tons of fun, I noticed a few couples having drinks and enjoying the evening. As far as food, they have a Combo menu that includes a list of about 15 different dishes and you get to choose 3 for $20. This combo menu is available until 7 pm. In addition to their large list of traditional Peruvian dishes, they have a separate menu for Chifa (Chinese-peruvian fusion) dishes, as well as, sushi rolls. All of the dishes we tried were very well prepared and the restaurant atmosphere was casual and relaxed. Nice choice if you are looking for traditional peruvian food.
