Ok... so the first time (in the old building) we ate there and weren't overly amazed. We waited a few months and got something to go (new building) and it was better but just not there.. So we waited even a few more months and got it to go and it was so much better, it stood up to all the others postings.. The amount of food they give you and quality the last few rounds has made us a fan.. ALTHOUGH the price seems to be a bit high compared to other places... so that's where i don't feel bad about the minus 1 star.. i'd ding them another 1/2 but 3, didn't do the quality of the food justice.. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant! Hands down! We have been eating here since our son was born 17 years ago and they treat us like family every time we go in. Their hot salsa is AWESOME! We buy it just to have on hand at home, their guac is some of the best I've had too and their chicken tortilla soup is one of my favs! This restaurant serves AUTHENTIC Mexican dishes. Here you'll find menudo, carne asada, and a wonderful piña dish (pineapple) dish that isn't on the menu...just ask for it, you'll love it, you eat it like fajitas; it's one of my favorites. There are other places that call themselves Mexican restaurants, but if they don't have menudo, carne adovada or carne asada...they are NOT an authentic Mexican restaurant. This place is a go to for us. It's close to home and has that cozy "hole in the wall" local feel. The food is always delicious! I get fajitas most of the time but have never tried anything I didn't like. The staff is always friendly and they are quick to take care of you. There's only 2 reasons I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 star. First, I got a look at the kitchen last time we were there and wow it looked dirty. There was trash all over the floor. This is pretty good Mexican food (and I live in Southern California. Land of good [and sometimes bad] Mexican food). The white cheesy sauce smothering the enchiladas is amazing! It's been kissed with a hint of garlic and is not lacking in the flavor dept. Smokey chipotle salsa is just the right amount of heat and their regular salsa is delicious as well. My only complaint is I wished they would have some pickled carrots or radishes, but that's pretty minor. read more

I liked this place. It has a cozy environment, friendly staff and good food. The prices are a little bit high compared to other places in Owasso but the quality of the food is better. Still not as authentic as I though it will be. We tried the chicken chimichanga which I couldn't finish because I kept eating their chips and salsa (really delicious). Next time it think I will go for the tacos or any of their seafood entrees (they look more authentic) My husband tried the poblano pepper and he though is was very good although he thinks the poblano pepper tastes better without the flour batter. This is my go to spot when i want Mexican food when i'm in town visiting my folks. The staff is very friendly. Multiple staff will ask at different time if we were helped or if we need anything else. The food was great. I have not tried something that i don't like here but i would say the Carnitas is hands down my favorite dish here. After ordering, the food comes out fairly quick. The only complaint i have about this place is that it's kind of cramp. Other than that, everything else is great. I will be satisfying my Mexican food craving here again when i'm back in town. read more

When in Oklahoma, this is THE place to eat real Mexican food. The food is consistently fresh and excellent. I usually get their Chicken/Beef/Shrimp fajita salad, and my husband and a friend usually have their fish tacos. With courteous/friendly staff, and bottomless homemade chips and salsa, what's not to like about this place? We haven't had one bad meal/experience at El Fogon. Our cabin is about 25 miles away but we come eat at this place at least 3 times a week. In the meantime, our friend who lives in OK has been coming here almost everyday for many years. Busy place but the wait staff are so great at what they do, that waiting is NOT really waiting. They treat their patrons like family. This place warms out heart!! read more

Having come from California to Oklahoma to visit friends and take a trip together to New Orleans, we did not expect to be surprised by great Mexican food in Owasso (a Tulsa suburb). I had the Siete Mares (seven seas) soup, intrigued to find it on the menu of this nice, but unassuming restaurant. The mussels, clams, octopus rings, shrimp and sole were perfectly cooked and very fresh tasting. The soup was perfectly seasoned and not over spiced. The portion was more than I could finish. Two could be happy with one order. This is a family-run restaurant with obvious pride of ownership, commitment to success through attention to cleanliness, service and quality food. On our trip we had great food in NOLA, and Memphis just as we expected. We also had great food here which exceeded what I expected. read more

Food was decent but I had a few issues. Our table was next to a wall I was told had the dishwasher. It sounded like a professional wrestling match goo on next to us. And the men's bathroom is laid out such that when the door opens you see a man's back as he stands at the urinal. Kinda gross. read more

Mexico City tacos, tortilla soup, and chicken fajita pasta are some of my favorites. Food is plentiful and flavorful. Ask for the "pineapple"...it's not on the menu, in fact there a couple of awesome dishes that are not on the menu. I can't begin to spell the name of the dish properly but try to say mocha-het-tay...it's flavorful, spicy, and not on the menu. The owner takes great pride in her restaurant and it shows in the food, atmosphere, and attentiveness of the staff (most of which are family). My family and I are regulars as are many that visit the restaurant. Gabby, the owner, takes the time to learn what you like. My momma is often greater with a hug.
