    I was really looking forward to dining at El Gaucho, but unfortunately the experience was pretty disappointing overall. The Wicked Shrimp appetizer was definitely the highlight and had great flavor. The Caesar salad was okay, nothing special but still enjoyable. The main issues came with the entrées. I ordered the ribeye medium, but it came out much closer to well done and was very dark on the outside. It also lacked seasoning, which was surprising for a steakhouse. The lobster mashed potatoes were the biggest letdown. They had a strange taste that reminded me of stale tap water and were hard to finish. For the price point and reputation, I expected a much better meal. Hopefully this was just an off night because the appetizer showed they are capable of good food.

    Came here on a Tuesday night for some amazing food and we got a fire show too! As you walk in you're greeted by friendly staff who offer to take your coat while you enjoy your dinner. The ambiance was classical and calm. They have live music. We ordered a good amount of food. We got the calamari, the escargot, wild mushrooms, dry aged Washington heritage pork chop and the flaming sword brochette of tenderloin & New York. I'll start off with the food we liked the most which was the brochette of tenderloin & New York. The meat was perfect, super tender and you can taste the fire. It also comes with a fire show which I highly recommend. Next was the mushrooms, they were cooked to perfection and the seasoning was spot on. The Pork chop was also very delicious. It was a thick cut of meat and charred on the top. I believe it also had huckleberry sauce which gave it sweetness. The calamari tho was okay, I thought it could have been crispier and the escargot lacked flavor compared to other escargot's I've had in the past. Overall, we had a great time. Food was great, fire show was amazing, great staff and awesome ambiance. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

    I had the pleasure of going to the ribbon cutting and grand opening party last night and what an absolute TREAT! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It's visually stunning, the staff is incredible and everything I tried was perfection. I woke up this morning craving their Mac and cheese-it's the best I've ever had. I tried the ostrich, ribeye, the shrimp, scallops-everything was superb! It's a family owned business and they are so excited to be in Boise. And they're sourcing their food locally! It's the first time in a long time I've been this excited about a new restaurant in Boise! You just must try it!

    Went to El Gaucho to celebrate my husband's birthday and it is one of the best things that we have here in Idaho! Love the food presentation, staff, and the food itself. Ambiance was lovely and intimate with the live piano playing! Would definitely come back here again, and try out their other food on their menu. I was disappointed to Jo because our personalized menu was thrown away by one of the staff.

    Absolutely 100% I recommend El gaucho! I love the staff they really make you feel individualized and they make the entire experience. From the menu to the food, it is incredible. The steak is cooked perfectly the tableside Caesar is such a fun experience. The desserts are fabulous. They time every course perfectly. The entire restaurant feels like a moody relaxing oasis it almost feels like you're not even In Boise. The bar is perfect, and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. So exciting to see more fine dining in Boise.

    We got to be a part of an industry night here and was really impressed with the small bites, steak and bananas foster. The cocktails were other worldly - especially the Old Forrester Old Fashioned.

    The dinner service was very very good. The bar and dining room are very nice and the live piano was great. Part of the issue was that our reservation was late for our usual dinner time. That's not their fault at all. Not having a table ready until ten minutes after wouldn't have been that big of a deal if we weren't already later than usual and they didn't communicate well and we weren't literally just 20 feet away in the bar. Having to check ourselves felt a bit lazy. We started with a simple wedge salad. It was very good. They brought their famous bread to the table and it was also very good. Our table shared the Mac n Cheese. It was awesome. Highly recommend. Now the bad news. The biggest issue, and the severe disappointment was the steaks. For a place that puts itself out there as the best steakhouse! My "medium" Filet, which was described as mostly pink with a little cool center. Was very "well" done. Hardly any pink at all. For the price they want, there is no way a steak that far off should have been served. My daughter's medium rare steak was slightly better, but not even close to on point. Maybe "medium" but probably more like "medium well". Two of our steaks were cooked correctly and I think they were good. Not amazing, but very good. 2/4 isn't good enough for a place that charges this much money. I hope it's just the fact that they're new and the kinks aren't worked out yet. We also had the famous bananas foster desert, and it was very much as advertised. Awesome presentation and was wonderful. The QC has got to improve. We will wait a while, a long while, to try again. I'm sure they'll figure it out but it definitely lest a bad taste in our mouths. Literally.

    Tucked into one of the cozy two-seat booths at El Gaucho, we enjoyed a relaxed, intimate dinner that felt like a true night out.

    We've made it a point to try all of the newer steakhouses around Boise, and El Gaucho easily stands out. The steak here was, without question, the best we've had--perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and clearly high quality.The experience was made even better by our server, Ashley, who was kind, attentive, and an absolute delight throughout the evening. From start to finish, everything felt polished but still warm and welcoming. This one immediately goes to the top of our list. Five stars, no hesitation.

    Great service! Filet Oscar is amazing, crab Mac was great, mushrooms were bland. Don't order the key lime pie unless you just want to eat a spoon full of sugar. Texture is off of whipped cream, powdery and gritty and no lime flavor- way too sweet

    My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at El Gaucho last night and they made it so special for us. We were welcomed with a beautiful card and red rose petals on our table along with a complimentary glass of champagne. Our server Britt was amazing! She was so helpful with the menu and made the BEST table side Caesar salad!! Our night was the most perfect from start to finish. I recommend getting the table side Caesar salad, table side baked potato and the key lime pie!! We will definitely be back to El Gaucho and will request Britt as our server again. She definitely made our night the most special.

This hostess then went over to the table where my friend is sitting and places her hand on the table, but I could not discern what was said. I find that type of behavior abhorrent. It is not only distasteful, but also makes patrons wonder if that is how this restaurant, this business, is run. If she is the first person you encounter, the face of this restaurant, the first impression - it does not bode well. There are some that may read this and think I am exaggerating, but I did note earlier, that the rest of our service was wonderful and the food divine. I do hope that whoever at the restaurant does monitor these reviews, really takes this feedback into consideration as I am sure that they do not want to be known as a space that shames patrons.

There was a wine rack accent wall on the right. It is located in downtown Boise at the corner of Idaho and 8th St along restaurant row. Our server was Matthew B, and while he was a nice guy, he did not provide good service. It took him a while to get to our table, then after we ordered drinks, it took too long to get them. We then ordered appetizers but he didn't take our dinner orders. We waited too long for the appetizers, and then we ordered our dinners, which also took a while to come out. Runners brought our food out, not Matthew. He did not to refill the women's sodas, we had to ask. He did bring another glass of wine to one of the men, but that was because he was signaled. He did not ask the other people that ordered beer and cocktails if they wanted another. We never had our water glasses refilled. We told him about the birthday celebration, and all he said was, if we ordered dessert, he would put a candle on it. What? Most places serve a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration. He also took too long to bring us our checks. We're all good tippers. We gave him 15%; he didn't deserve it. The food was OK, not spectacular, but overpriced. As far as the apetizers, the asparagus fries were not that flavorful, though nicely crusted. The cauliflower was just OK, likewise the chicken wings. I did like the honey and balsamic grilled brussel sprouts. Speaking for my wife and I, she liked the BAM Sammy. The side salad was average. I ordered the Urban Burger. While the patty was cooked well, it was small. I can get a bigger, better burger that costs less at any number of restaurants we frequent, including a few near us (we live in Star). I did like the fries. Crispy, with I believe Parmesan cheese coating them. My friend said his smoked salmon salad was just OK. We found it very loud, and difficult to hear each other in conversation. Needless to say, we have no plans to return to Fork.

To top it off, there was a live jazz band playing, which provided the perfect sophisticated backdrop for our evening. Our waiter, Mark, was exceptional. He greeted us warmly and already knew we were there for a birthday. He walked us through the water options and provided excellent wine service for my fiancee's Washington Syrah, ensuring she tasted it first to make sure it was to her liking. The Food: Bread Service: Do not skip this! The house-made sourdough and French bread were served warm. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we loved the olive tapenade that came alongside the whipped butter. The Filet Mignon: My fiancee ordered the 10oz True West Prime NW Filet (medium-rare). It was exactly as expected: juicy, delicious, and finished with a slight char on the edges that we both loved. The Prix Fixe Menu: I opted for the 3-course meal. The Wedge Salad was crisp, and the Braised Bone-in Short Rib was incredible. The meat literally fell off the bone at the slightest touch of my fork. It was served over a parmesan risotto that was equally delicious. The "Chocolate Bomb": For the birthday dessert, they brought out a chocolate lava cake with freshly whipped cream and a hot fudge drizzle. It was the perfect ending to the night. Final Thought: Be prepared to pay a premium for the food and atmosphere, as this is definitely not a cheap meal. However, for a special occasion where you want world-class service, live music, and perfectly cooked steak, Chandlers is well worth the investment.
