Ok wow. I remember going to the other el gaucho in Fort Myers years ago and enjoyed it; however, this restaurant was one of the best I've been to in SWFL. First of all, super clean. Super attractive and welcoming interior. Those things are important to me when selecting a restaurant. Staff were all super friendly and willing to answer any questions about menu items. I opted for the picante de camarones, or shrimp in a spicy aji Amarillo sauce, served with a flavorful white rice. I got a side of crispy yucca and practically drank their special house green sauce that comes free with a basket of bread. In fact, I loved the green sauce so much that I purchased a jar to take home. Everyone loved their meals and we are definitely gonna be returning... maybe tomorrow! Yes, it was that good! read more

We wanted to try this new location as we're big fans of the Fort Myers location. Didn't disappoint! We didn't have reservations but despite the hustle & bustle of Saturday night dinners, we were seated within 15 minutes. It definitely has a welcome warm decor. Different than the FM one . We were thankful for our Uber friendly waitress. I ordered the lovely snapper fish dish with creamy yellow sauce & side of rice. I forgot to mention my Calamari/squid allergy & got the fish topped with calamari . Waitress got me a new one topped with shrimp instead! Needless to say, food was delicious & very filling. A friend told me it was good, and asked for the trio ceviche, 29.99, all I can say is for the price they charge, the amount of fish and shrimp should be more bigger. Oh I want to come back to try other dishes but I'm two hours away! The menu is extensive and everything sounds delicious. My seafood a lo macho was very tasty. My only disappointment was the salchipapas, it came out so late and so hot our daughter couldn't really have any, the sausage was on the salty side, however. We did take them home. The portions are very generous, so you'll definitely have your fill. The service was really good, and even though we got there around 20 minutes before closing we were served very well and without issues, we weren't the last patrons to leave either. I was not very impressed with their dessert but everything else was off the chain tasty, so I wouldn't want to ding them for the dessert. We sat at the bar because there was an hour long wait for a table for 2. The plastic covered menus were dirty, you could feel the dried food that hadn't been removed in days. There were flies buzzing around the bar. The bartender was unfriendly. We decided to have cocktails and an appetizer, and then leave. I asked what kind of fish is in the ceviche, and the bartender said "Swai". I had to look it up. Swai is a farm raised Vietnamese catfish. Does that sound like something you would want to eat in a ceviche? We ordered the shrimp ceviche, and they brought us the fish ceviche anyway!!! Sent it back. Finished our drinks, and left. If you are comfortable eating farm raised seafood from Southeast Asia in a Peruvian/Argentinian restaurant, then this is probably an OK place. Otherwise, think twice before eating here. Their staff could use a crash course in politeness and cleanliness. read more
