I had dinner at this fantastic location yesterday. The bartender was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She made a couple of recommendations and I happily listened! Everything was delicious! She also made some mean caipirinhas. I had the pulpo appetizer, the leche de tigre ceviche with fried calamari, and for entree I had the taku taku with seafood a la macho. After passing by El gaucho, too many times in the past few years for more familiar, safer restaurants, we finally decided to give it a try. Wow, we have been missing out. The restaurant was packed on Friday night but we were able to get a reservation. That is a big plus in-season. don't be misled by the strip mall location. The interior is cleverly designed with lots of wood and wine racks, and creative lighting that give it a very comfortable, up class appeal. We were probably seated and enjoy cocktails, including Cuzquena, Peruvian beer. we are not wine drinkers but many around us were and the wine list is extensive. We tried the dishes pictured, all of which were great. The strip steak was one of the best I have had. The green beans were a big bonus, with lots of great bold, garlic flavor. The rice dish was unusually good again, with a healthy dose of garlic and seasonings kicking up the fusion blend nicely. Portion sizes were huge as you can especially see with the pesto fettuccine and steak dish. This could easily be shared by us. Indeed, we took home three carryout boxes. Service was efficient and friendly, with the server more than willing to explain preparation techniques to us as first time diners. Local ownership is another plus. We will certainly put this restaurant in the rotation for special dine out spots. The price is from $25-$40 for most dinners, so a little more special occasion oriented for us. read more

Upon walking into the restaurant it became apparent that more than half of the clientele was Latino, which struck us as a good sign, and we were right. Our server Alejandro (from Peru) was wonderful and the food lived up to our expectations. I ordered the platter of steaks, short ribs, chops, chicken and sausage for my family of four and we enjoyed the meal thoroughly, with plenty of food to take home with us. Went to the Estero location everything was great the food fantastic , I noticed that the menu said party of 6 or more 18% gratuity included in the bill which was fine by me because we are 5 , 3 adults and 2 kids , at the end they gave my receipt and it said 18% gratuity , and I'm like we are 5 I reached out to one person in bar and let her know that is not correct to say something in the menu and then just arbitrarily charge you. my Wife and I had heard good things about this place at another location and wanted to try out this new location near us in Estero. We were disappointed with the food. My wife ordered the jalea mixta (Peruvian seafood plate). It was way too salty. We've had this plate at other Peruvian places and never had an issue. I had the churrasco, medium-well. It was cooked nicely, but it was Luke-warm at best. my wife told our server about her salty plate but the cook said he did not agree and didn't bother doing anything.
