    Carnitas Super Burrito
    Connie H.

We both got the Carnita super burrito. It was enormous! We both had leftovers enough for dinner. I highly recommend this place. It seems kind of strange that it's in a gas station, but it's the real deal.

    Restaurant description

Thursday 18th I walk inside at 2244 and the girl on phone says we're closed says we close at 2245 and that phone order she's taking was her last order. The website says 1100pm Regardless I still got in line at 2244 ! Who the F closes at 2245. So odd. The website in incorrect false advertising or she wanted to get off early . F this place!! They don't care about customer service here. AVOID

The food is really delicious. I had the super burrito and my partner had the birria ramen add shrimp (sorry no pic) he said it was one of the best birria sauces he seems to have loved it. Definitely making this place on the map as a favorite!

    Menu

2nd time coming. First try birria tacos...delicious, savory, yummy. I ate it all! 2nd try, steak burrito. Good flavor, seasoned well. Big, I ate half and got full. Green salsa has a nice body to it, not too watered down.

Great food but a bit pricey. Great size portions and meals include a drink which helps make the cost worth it

They are huge and delicious and you can get them smothered with cheese or bacon or whatever. They also have breakfast items, crepes, salads, sandwiches, ice cream, and some pretty fancy coffee drinks. Now about those hot dogs: We tried the Take It Easy dog (ketchup, mustard, diced onions) and the Kansas dog (bacon, cheese, and BBQ sauce). The Take It Easy may have standard toppings but the dog and bun are excellent. The Kansas dog was supreme. The dog, bun, and the toppings were fantastic. I don't know why the little town of Winslow has such good hot dogs but it just shows you never know what you may find.

Quick, Friendly Coffee Stop in the Heart of Winslow's Famous Corner…read moreWe pulled into Winslow on a relaxed Sunday afternoon after a long drive, mainly to hit up the Walmart for some essentials. While we were in the area, we decided to grab coffee at this spot right on the bustling corner tied to the "Standin' on the Corner" park, the one immortalized by the Eagles' "Take It Easy." (Think: Glenn Frey statue, flatbed Ford, giant murals, and Eagles/Route 66 vibes everywhere.) The barista was genuinely welcoming and super accommodating. We asked for sugar-free caramel macchiatos, and they nailed the customization without any hassle. Both drinks were really solid: smooth, well-balanced espresso, and they hit the spot after hours on the road. The location itself is what makes it stand out, it's smack in the middle of a very touristy, lively intersection packed with Glenn Frey and Eagles memorabilia, gift shops selling Route 66 souvenirs, statues, murals, and photo ops galore. If you're already there snapping pics with the "flatbed Ford" or the bronze Glenn Frey tribute, it's super convenient for a caffeine fix. That said, it can feel a bit hectic and very geared toward tourists with lots of people milling around. If you're looking for a quiet, locals only cafe vibe, this might not be your scene. But for a quick, tasty drink while soaking in the classic Winslow nostalgia? It was exactly what we needed. Would definitely stop again if we're cruising Route 66 through northern Arizona. Friendly service + good coffee + prime location = win.

We stopped by for lunch and ordered the Ramen ($15), Birria Tacos (3 for $15), and Onion Rings ($6). The onion rings were phenomenal - they came out piping hot and were perfectly crispy with an excellent batter:onion ratio. The Ramen was good, but I don't think I would order it again, as I personally found it too heavy/oily/salty. My friend enjoyed his Birria Tacos, though. As I mentioned above, the service was very warm and friendly, but the food took almost 1 hour to come out. The restaurant was maybe 30% full, so not sure what was going on. Fortunately, we were not in a rush. The interior is clean and has a well-stocked bar and a couple TVs.

My husband went with the 3 barria tacos and I ordered the street tacos - one barria, one carne asada and one chicken. The barria was the best hands down! We left Shorty's with a new favorite taco and to hopefully find a recipe that matches theirs. The young ladies who took our order and served us were very friendly. It wasn't too busy so we had the chance to talk for awhile and learn the proper way to say "birria". Doesn't matter how you pronounce it - you will not be disappointed! We look forward to our next visit with a hearty appetite!
