If I could I would give 10 stars, 1st time wanting to try indian fry bread coming back from New Mexico. Staff so helpful so sweet.Lots to look at with all the antiques . Me and my class had dinner here, the service was on point our server was amazing and helpful. The food was some of the beat burgers sandwhichs and frys ive ever had, it was delicious i would go again all of our needs where met even at a group of 19 people. The decors and restaurant itself where decorated nicely and it was very neat and clean. The tables even had little peg games to play and the dishes were even cute and fancy. Excellent customer service and a friendly family atmosphere. parking can be hard to come by at lunch time but you are mere steps away from the historic Route 66 business district. We visited Mr. Maesta's Cafe for dinner while we were on the road, and it was a charming spot with southwestern cuisine and gifts. We visited on a Thursday evening and the place had a good amount of people dining inside. There's a lot of charm with this cafe, as it really is a roadside attraction in an older building. Then you walk inside and there were a ton of nick nacks and items to purchase for gifts, including petrified wood and rocks. Further in the cafe is the dining area where we sat. The menu had a lot to choose from, with southwestern cuisine, such as green chile stews, enchiladas, and navajo taco. We were provided with complimentary chips and salsa. My partner ordered the green chile burger while I tried the navajo taco. It was my first time having a navajo taco, and I can see why it's a local favorite. The navajo bread is filled with a hefty amount of chili, lettuce, tomato, cheese and onions. It was very filling - and tasty. You have to try a navajo taco while in these parts! My boyfriend enjoyed his green chile burger, which also came with fries smothered with the chile and cheese. We were stuffed, but after seeing the table next to us order a banana cream pie, we decided to share a slice. All of the pies are made in house, and it was soooo delicious! They had a handful of other flavors, but the banana cream was one I highly recommend ordering. Mr. Maesta's Cafe was a great stop while trekking through Holbrook. Best red chili in town, our favorite place to get chili cheese fries and a club sandwich

Definite Old School Feel with all the retro antiques hanging on and from the ceiling. Our waitress was Great. She was very friendly and attentive. Free table salsa and chips. I had the Green Chili Crisp w/meat, with a Sopapilla on the side to fill with honey. My buddies had the stuffed Sopapilla and a large Buritto. It's nice that both could have green & red sauces. Prices have gone up, but I'm sure everyone is still recovering from the pandemic days. read more

How can you mess up ranch dressing?‍Chicken fry was bland with brown gravy. Fried were the only good thing. Corn was out of a can, tasteless. Then the waitress asked if we wanted the rolls. It is very easy to miss this restaurant but don't. The food is fantastic. I had perhaps the best refried beans I have ever, ever had. Whenever I drive up through Holbrook, I make a point to stop here and you should, too. The service was fine and it's such an interesting ambience. This was the worst place my family and I been to too on our 30 hour road trip. This place deserves the award for worst service. I expected more because of their sign "best food in town". definitely not the case. we walk in, no greeting. no hello, no welcome. it was straight to our seat and a "what do you want to drink". our first time here I asked "what do you have" because we didn't have time to sit or look at the menu. And she rolls her eyes and only names 3 drinks. right off the back, I knew she was going to be a b****. didn't get her name. but we came on a Sunday, june 8th around 6pm. she had red lipstick and ear buds in her ear. after a long 5 hours drive, I was starving. I asked for a stuffed sopilla. she brings back a tiny $2.50 sopilla. no I'm sorry, it was "oh" and she walks away. she definitely didn't deserve a tip. hones the food my husband and daughter ordered was not worth $53.00. save yourself the money and grab McDonald's. they would probably give you better service as well. read more

Came here because of the reviews and interior decor. The only downfall is that the menu photos weren't updated. Prices were about $3-4 more than the previous posted menu pics. I've posted updated pics of the menu for everyone. I have been craving a Navajo taco since I first had one a little over a year ago. Sooo good. Got some complimentary chips and salsa. I loved the thin fresh chips and the salsa had a nice kick to it. Got the Navajo taco without tomatoes. It was so good. I opted for the green chili vs red. I love green chili. The fry bread was so fluffy and perfect. It's like a taco cloud of goodness. Also got a tamale and the ham and cheese with fries. The ham and cheese you can't go wrong with making. It was made with thick cut ham and nicely grilled bread. The fries were nice and potatoey. I recommend stopping here for a great Navajo taco for sure. The interior of the place along with the IQ test games on the table are pretty cool. read more

We were out visiting the petrified forest and stopped in here after a long day for a late lunch. Both servers were incredibly friendly. We actually met the owner's son in the restaurant. He asked what I like to eat and then provided some wonderful suggestions. Bathrooms were clean and we enjoyed the atmosphere plenty to look at! read more

I really wanted to try a Navajo Taco for the first time, on our road trip, which I did. However it was soggy because they over loaded it with canned pinto beans and its juices. The combination plate, which consisted of tamale, enchilada, tostada and taco, rice and beans with a sopapilla had no authentic flavor and was most likely out of a can or package. The taco salad had ground beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese and was so small for the price. They have no kids meals, but they will make a small portion of some foods for $10 each meal. Fountain drinks come out of a can for $3.50 each and the ice tea tasted burnt. A party of 4 or more automatically gets a 15% gratuity. Restrooms are run down. If you're looking for authentic food, I would recommend a different spot. Only reason I gave 2 stars was for the waitress who was attentive. read more

Our motel recommended this place when we asked for a local restaurant in the area. The ambiance is different. It's like a Cracker Barrel decorated with old stuff but with 10x more stuff and put together like someone threw it into the garage. Don't expect fancy or even quaint. But the food was delicious! Worth going there. Serving portions were generous. Our waitress was kind but our orders got mixed up but corrected immediately. Our check out was a little frustrating but it didn't take away from the food. I rated a 4 because of the check out issue. Give it a try. read more

Do not fall for the sign! "Best food in Town". What a joke! Prices are absurd and portions are tiny. Ordered a $6 flauta and a $3 taco, they were bland, greasy, and the size of a mini street taco. I ordered beef on the flauta and chicken on the taco but received ground beef in both. Who puts ground beef in a flauta! Wife tried the enchiladas and the chicken was so old and dry it looked rancid. To top off having horrible food the lady who served us "possible owner" was extremely rude and completely un attentive! The table next to us had the same horrible experience when paying TOP DOLLAR for the worst customer service ever! We decided to still give her a 10% tip which really made her mad. She snatched the receipt out of my hand and then slammed my card on the counter. Never ever ever take a chance on this place!!!! Very clustered with junk and everything is filthy as well! We were told that our service dog was not allowed to come in. We told the waitress its illegal to refuse him. She refused and said no it is not illegal. They need to read up on the laws about service animals. Never coming here again nor will i recommend this place. read more

Ordered 2 quesadillas for my kids who want just basic things, and they didn't have it on the menu but made it for us. We got the check and charger $13 for each of them. I was willing to pay $5 for each, even though a taco and enchiladas are $3 each, but they wouldn't budge on the price. It would have been nice to know that upfront. Also beware if 18% gratuity charge on parties of 4 or more. The rest of the food was average and service was minimal but did the trick. Wouldn't recommend. read more
