Burritos are big, prices are on the higher end, especially when adding cheese or any other ons. The flavor is meh. Asked for salsa and got a packet of Tapatio. I'm not a fan and wouldn't return, but you might feel differently. Give it a try and decide for yourself. read more

I truly shocked this place only has 3.4 stars so many back reviews. We a carnitas burrito, shrimp burrito and cheese quesadilla. All three were amazing and full of flavorful. Whatever the grilled veggies are they put in the shrimp burrito were to die for. All authentic in my opinion. Salsa is super runny but has a good flavor (I liked red better). If your Mexican expecting real Mexican food (not American food based off Mexican recipes) then don't go here. I asked for salsa verde and she gave me green chile soup. It's like a spicy soup. It's definitely not salsa. And when I finally get salsa verde it's runny and syrupy. With no flavor. Prolly the worst fajitas I've had comparable to Mi Pueblo. El gordos is a better representation of Mexican food. At least when I ask for salsa verde. They actually know what I'm talking about. read more

I was disappointed that our regular Mexican joint (Las Maria's) was closed. Hopefully not for good So we tried Alfonso's. We walked in and it smelled of burnt oil. The room was smoky so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Ordered chili relleno burro, meh, bacon breakfast burro, meh. Several pieces of meat were not eatable. Like could not chew them up and had to spit them out. Kid liked the Carne burro and the green salsa. But he also eats Filbrtos multiple times a week. I try to be a generous reviewer but this place is in need of upping their product. The price point was low and the food reflects this. It seemed to be a family owner joint and the people were nice. Next time in Winslow we will definitely pass on Alfonso's. read more

Let's face it. You didn't pull off I-40 craving Taco Bell. You did it craving real Mexican food. So travel across the parking lot and get what you crave! This restaurant offers tacos, big burritos, rolled tacos and other favorites served to go. Combo meals include beans, rice and a small drink. Prices are between Taco Bell and a sit down restaurant. I ordered a cheese quesadilla meal and a side of 3 rolled tacos for $10! More food then I could eat and almost what I would have dropped across the parking lot. Definitely worth it. Service is quick and friendly. Some booths available but looks like they removed some seating for COVID. read more

Generous portions and tons of options. In fact, the menu is overwhelming with so many choices. I settled on a cheese enchilada and bean torta with sides of rice and beans. My companion had a chimichanga. It was humongous! The food was tasty but nothing overly special. The salsa bar was mostly empty- three of the salsas were scraped completely out; the tiny bit left was frozen. Plus, no free refills on soda. The temperature in the restaurant was quite warm; in fact I thought it was a bit cooler outside- and that's saying something when it's late June in Winslow! Ordered and should have checked it out a little bit further as the restaurant was full of flies and food for the drive thru was being further heated via the microwave in styrofoam boxes. A bunch of red flags, only to name a few. People were nice enough and I love a hole in the wall restaurant but this had "no" written all over it. Made a quick stop there to eat. The drive thru had a huge line so we went inside to order. The place could use a major upgrade. Renovate the entire interior. The ceiling was gross, the restaurant smelled like a public restroom. The window sills had dead insects, the floors were filthy, the high chairs were disgusting, the tables were wiped down with a single rag no rinsing of the rag in between tables or without a spray bottle with some sort of cleaning solution. Overall it was a pretty gross experience just being there. I lost my appetite and left. It's no wonder no one wanted to sit inside to eat, hence the long drive thru line. Makes me wonder what it looks like behind the counter where the food was prepped. Will never eat here again. read more

Food was great. I got the steak tacos and it was the best steak I have had on tacos. My husband ordered the beef tacos and enjoyed them as well. Rice and beans were the standard fair. Alonso's Alfonso's...who knows! However This place made some awesome breakfast burritos. Sadly every time we went back they were closed.

I have a confession to make. I went into Alfonso's as a last resort. I was trying to make it to Bakersfield from Santa Rosa New Mexico. I needed something to eat in the car. A burrito was just what I craved. I YELPED " lunch " in Winslow AZ...and the choices were GRIM. I opted for Alfonso's as the least painful of my choices. I was scared when I walked in. They occupy the old building that used to house the local McDonalds. But...the counter person was nice...was clearly lucid...and took my order for a carnitas burrito. What I got shocked me. The thing weighed in at a pound. No rice...no beans ( as I had asked ) just carnitas...salsa...cheese...sour cream...and avocado. It was flat out terrific. Amazingly good. I called my buddy in Florida and told him he would we shocked at the quality burrito I got in the middle of NOWHERE Arizona. Price was insanely cheap...freshly made...tasted awesome...no burrito regret down the road...just a fantastic lunch on the run. Well done. read more

Very good, stopped to eat at Alfonso's while coming back from vacation from California. It was a good alternative as it was just off of the interstate. The quesadillas i had were very good, with a generous portion of guacamole and sour cream. The portions of the meals i ordered for for two others were also generous, and the prices were great. The only downside i can say is that the place really needs some renovations, and to clean their bathrooms. Overall i would recommend this as a good stop to eat if passing through Winslow. read more

It really is a great Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately they aren't open on Sundays. Love the enchiladas and the chilli rellenos.
