    Vegan Option: Cauliflower Tostada
    Lisa N.

One afternoon, my sister excitedly told me about a local restaurant serving up some of the best Mexican food she ever had. Living in SoCal, where good Mexican cuisine is everywhere, I was skeptical. So, obviously, I had to try it for myself. On my first visit, I ordered the Queso Fundido with tostadas, salsa, a Grilled Achiote Chicken Tostada, and a Baja Shrimp Taco. The warm, salty tostadas were addictive, and the queso was rich, gooey, and perfectly balanced with the sharp cheddar and milder Oaxaca cheese. The fire-roasted salsa was flavorful without being too spicy. While the chicken tostada was too spicy for my taste, the Baja Shrimp Taco was yummy, with bright lime flavor and cool slaw. I returned on Mother's Day with my sisters and tried the Chicken Pozole and a Barbacoa Beef Taco. The pozole was flavorful, though I wished it had more smokiness and hominy. The barbacoa taco tasted great, but the meat was a bit fatty for my taste. My mom also enjoyed the shrimp fajita plate that came with refried beans, rice, warm corn tortillas, and guacamole. We also ordered a carne asada plate that was also very good. The plates tasted as if they had been grilled over wood and coal to give it that flavor and charred coloring. For dessert, we tried the rice pudding panna cotta, bread pudding, and coconut flan. The bread pudding was warm and comforting with cinnamon and vanilla flavors that reminded me of Christmas but the coconut flan was my favorite. It was velvety sweet with hints of acidity from the pineapple glaze. I would pass on the rice pudding since I prefer a creamy rice pudding rather than solid one. The restaurant has a lively but comfortable atmosphere, is very family-friendly, and the service was polite and prompt. We did not wait to be seated and were served fairly quickly. I highly recommend Sausal for its food, environment, and service. Please go check this place out!

Was a huge fan of the old pork chile verde that was on the menu so when I found out that it was being replaced I was extremely disappointed. However, I finally tried the new chile verde and I was extremely pleased with the plate. The meat was so tender that it basically came off the bone as soon as you touch it with the tortilla or fork. The flavor (sauce) is the same as the old recipe which is phenomenal. Overall I was very happy. SAUSAL honestly doesn't disappoint. Their customer service is good, the food is good, everything is so consistent every time that it's difficult to go to another restaurant. Bravo to the team and chef once again. You guys are awesome

Husband and I came in for date night, it was our second time. First time was with friends and food and experience was so good we had to come back. Second time around was still really good only complaint was my husband and I ordered a lot of dishes because we wanted to try a lot of dishes but everything we ordered came all at once and it was a hit overwhelming, appetizers came out with main dishes. We ordered guacamole with chips, ceviche, spicy tuna aguachiles, empanada, 3 of their taco selections (the potato rajas was my favorite), beef Chamorro all out back to back. Everything was really good I think next time I will ask them to space out dishes. For dessert we ordered their Spanish sticky date cake and Mexican chocolate panna cotta, both very delicious!

We tried this restaurant on new year's eve for lunch because it was listed as one of the Resy restaurants for Amex platinum holders. It was a rainy day, so the restaurant wasn't packed. We actually ran into another group wanting to use their Resy credit lol Overall, it was a good experience. Service was police and friendly, and the food came out quickly. We loved the chips, guac and salsa. I'm told the pozole soup was great. The shrimp diablo (sauce on the side) was good flavor wise, but the shrimp tasted a bit old. You know that taste and smell when you leave seafood in the fridge for too long? That's what the shrimp was like and the fish in the fish tacos. Other than those bloopers, everything was great. We'd give it another try. Oh and the vegan taco was good! I didn't finish it because I was stuffed with chips and salsa lol but it was good.

Dropped by this weekend to celebrate yet another birthday celebration. The service was fantastic, I ordered the barbacoa taco, which I liked enough, though I would probably order something different next time. To my surprise the arroz con pollo as basic as it sounds, was actually so good! The way that they marinate the chicken is perfect. Their aguachile plate was okay, I think if you're a big tuna fan this would be a good choice. The start of the show was the date cake I had for dessert, it only last a few minutes before it was all gone!

This place is absolutely delicious. From the appetizers, the entrees and the drinks! My coworker and I decided to grab a bite to eat at a new place and yap! She got a chicken dish with cilantro lime rice and my goodness it was amazing. I got a Caesar side salad paired with a chicken taco & a potato taco. Even better. The drinks were tasty as well, very flavorful and not "too" strong. The parking is a little tricky, but doable. The service was great as well. Very attentive and professional. I am going back for more dinners and of course brunch!

Came by on a Monday soon after opening. They do lunch specials & I really enjoyed it! Service was good, atmosphere is nice, food tasted delicious and full of flavor. No complaints here. Free street parking or parking in the back. I'd come back and try something else, I was really impressed with everything I had.

A super cool restaurant with some delicious eats! They have a great happy hour menu and their cocktails are delicious. Our service was great and we definitely enjoyed our time there. Super cool chill vibes.

I always enjoy coming here and sitting at the bar. I like chatting with the bartender when the place is not busy. They seem knowledgeable and have been spot on when recommending a cocktail to go with my meal. There's also always a good sports game showing on the TVs. I want to try more from the menu. It all seems promising and the dishes that I did try were not disappointing. Even the wings were delightfully flavorful. I normally don't enjoy sauced wings and am a pretty picky when it comes to wings but the wings here were not overcooked and the sauce was pleasantly different (not your normal buffalo sauce).

Stopped by for dinner this weekend, and Benjamin gave us a fantastic experience at Sausal. Without planning it, we also arrived during happy hour (yes on a Saturday). Benjamin did a great run down of the menu. We tried the chile verde, ceviche, baja shrimp taco, and guacamole. All items were fantastic, but the Chile verde paired with black beans and green rice stood out the most. Their mescal margarita was also delicious. We will absolutely be returning! Thank you Sausal for a wonderful and tasty experience!

Recommended to me by a friend who raved about their experience. Ended up grabbing taco Tuesday special and a margarita at the bar (both great). Bartender was a great person to chat with, and he told me how he worked there for the last 9.5 years. Definitely one of the best spots in El Segundo. Can't skip it if you're in the area.

It's always such a treat coming here. Our server Jose was awesome! So attentive, prompt but non intrusive. The hostess said they have happy hour every night until 6pm- we ordered stuff from the happy hour menu and the regular menu and both were solid! To start I go their house margarita and it was strong! This time I got the branzino and they were scrumptious! I might just order this moving forward ! The shrimp tacos were also quite delicious. My husband got his go to arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) - it's his go to. As a treat we tried their date cake (very good! Get it!!). Overall a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Cheers!

Hosting a few visitors from out of town and they wanted to eat Mexican food for lunch. We were in the El Segundo, did a search on yelp and Sausal looked good. Location was right off of main street. Found street parking. Walking in, everyone was warm & welcoming, the place looks really nice. We picked a high table and dove into the menu. We ordered fresh Guac with massive tortilla, Birrria Taco Plate, Barbacoa, Crispy fish, then had Spanish sticky date cake and Espresso's. Birria was my fav. But all tacos were tasty, We all loved our food! Very good service from Nick, thank you again. We will back for sure, salud!

What makes it worse is that this is not our first time with Mercado. We've been fans since the original location near The Grove and have been coming to this South Bay location for a while. We used to order takeout and dined in regularly and in the past the experience was much better. Unfortunately, that is clearly no longer the case. The service was atrocious from start to finish. We waited far too long for everything, including drinks. A single Tecate took about 30 minutes to arrive, which set the tone for the rest of the night. Nobody checked on us, nobody seemed attentive and we spent way too much of the evening just sitting there waiting. The food was equally bad. The carnitas nachos came out cold. The steak taco was rubbery. The fish tacos were incredibly dry. The birthday fajitas were also dry and underwhelming. For a place at this price point, there is really no excuse for food coming out like this. The overall atmosphere also felt off. What used to feel lively and welcoming now felt neglected and poorly managed. It was especially frustrating because this was supposed to be a birthday dinner and instead it turned into a long, overpriced, disappointing experience. It genuinely breaks my heart to write this because we have a long history with Mercado, but after this visit, we're done. There are too many better options in the South Bay to spend this kind of money on bad food, bad service and an overall miserable experience.

Upon arriving at the restaurant with my Mom, we were seated right away and given such good treatment, we felt like celebrities. And the food, AMAZING! The churros for dessert - Chef's kiss. What makes this stand out for me is that Ben went so far above and beyond to make sure that I had a good experience. His apology was sincere enough, but he didn't stop there. A lot of people are not willing to go the extra mile like he did that day. I am very grateful and appreciative, and I do not take it for granted. The food at Esperanza speaks for itself, but the SERVICE 100/10! No notes. Thank you Ben.

Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Parking is metered or street parking. Overall, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but my experience wasn't bad just not significant enough to put in my rotation. Would come back if someone treated me here though.
