His recommendations were spot-on and his enthusiasm felt so genuine. We started with a bread basket accompanied by a little sampling of tapenade, which was savory, briny, and a perfect complement to the warm bread. Came in with a group of four, we kicked things off with the burrata starter--a surprisingly fun and shareable adventure of baked burrata, fresh crostini, roasted cauliflower, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and basil cream. There was a lot happening on the plate, but it all worked beautifully together. For our entrées, we ordered the Tartufo, Cinghiale, Bolognese, and Carbonara. And let me just say, the Tartufo was a full-on dinner performance. Gary brought out steaming hot tagliatelle pasta and tossed it tableside inside a giant wheel of Parmesan. He then topped it with crab meat in brown butter before finishing it with a generous shaving of truffle. Every bite was like a perfectly timed symphony of flavors--rich, savory, buttery, and earthy, with nothing outshining the other. I'd put this dish up against anyone's nonna. I sampled the other three entrées as well, and every one was delicious. The gnocchi in the Cinghiale is an absolute must-try--pillowy, texturally delightful, and packed with flavor. The carne guisada Benedict was good, the biscuit underneath was solid (I mean like it was good - not a hard biscuit). Turns out carne guisada is basically Mexican pot roast??? So at the end of the day it was pot roast. It wasn't bad but it's pot roast lol. If I come back I'll get a different meat only because I'm not the biggest pot roast fan. My Arnold Palmer never got empty and my waitress wanted to send me out the door with a to go drink or water or something because it was very hot out and she didn't want me to get dehydrated so that was nice of her. Next hot sides - Mac & Cheese and Texas BBQ Beans. Lastly, 1/2lb brisket and a jalapeño cheddar sausage. Find an indoor picnic table and dive in. Beans are like a chili, smoky, thick with slight heat and salty. Next Mac & Cheese, very cheddar, sticky and hot. Potato salad, dill and mustard forefront flavors. Potato's were a little mashed. Brisket, soft, moist, smoke ring about 1/8" deep. Great smoky flavor. Jalapeño cheddar sausage, unreal. Bursting with cheddar with a jalapeño kick in chaser. Great meal! Family friendly atmosphere and at 5:10pm line is out the door! Get here early!
