Up until Sunday October 1st we have always enjoyed the food at El Jalapeno we stopped in at 3:30 in the afternoon the place was not busy at all the service was okay as usual but the food had a funny taste to it my brother and I each had ground beef enchiladas and burritos the meat tasted not bad but it didn't taste great like usual we said something to the waiter he didn't seem too interested just smiled and nodded his head because probably light on the English end but anyway we ask for the manager the manager wasn't in we paid our bill of $57 for five of us and we called the manager later because about 3 hours after we ate lunch both my brother-in-law and I got sick to our stomachs the lower intestine stuff and lasted three to four hours we called the store they just said well if you're sick go to the hospital they said it wasn't them because no one else got sick We were told to call back on Tuesday because that's when the manager would be around they wouldn't give us his name I called back Tuesday 6 times in 2 hours all I ever got was put on hold until the 7th call the manager got on the phone I told him what happened then I said there must be a problem and he said no no problem it's you you must have an illness before you came here I said how come everybody else that ate everything but ground beef wasn't sick he said that was our problem and if we were sick we should go to our own doctor but they're not responsible and he hung up on me this is a really great way to treat a regular customer Let's make that previous regular Customer because I will never set foot in that place again as will my brother-in-law and the rest of my family we will go elsewhere I wasn't looking for anything free which is what he accused me of but I will never go back and I will never recommend the place if my relatives want to go there I just won't go to that dinner I would recommend stay away from that restaurant. read more

My wife and I were in Niles shopping, and were looking for Mexican food, we were in the parking lot of a little place that had 2 cars in the lot... then remembered we had installed Yelp to our Iphone.. Yelp review's made us decided to leave one place and come to El Jalapeno... So here is my review..... as you pull in the building is nice and well kept.. this continues as you walk in, the place is very nice.. the staff is very friendly.. it was busy so we decided to sit at the bar and get a drink... the staff made us feel so welcome we just stayed at the bar and had dinner... we have since made this our Sunday afternoon drive.... this place is great, the food is awesome.... the staff even better.... the manager goes out of his way to make sure your visit is a food one..... If if sounds like i'm a little over the top.... trust me I dont know these people or work for them.... I have just gotten tired of the poor level of service you now see in the resturants.. and these guys have it down... if you in town... stop in... You will be back.... This is my family's staple restaurant and we go every time I'm in town. The food is outstanding with large portions leaving a good amount for the next day lunch. The servers are super friendly and treat us like family. This is probably the best Mexican food in the area. read more

We love this restaurant, we eat in and take out very often! We love their salsa, queso dip, shredded chicken nachos, number 13 burrito, and the number 40 chicken and chorizo dish. Service is usually great, we've only had a time or two that is was substandard. read more

They were really slow at refilling our drinks but they were really short handed also, three servers for over 15 large tables. When the food came out, one of our orders was wrong but they were quick at fixing it and bringing out the correct order. Nothing has any real spice to it if you have a taste pallet for spicy foods and I gave it three stars because if it wasn't so busy, they are usually really quick with food and refills. Overall it wasn't horrible and could be corrected with just more staff. read more

I first gave Jalepeno three stars, but then I thought about the lack of really great Mexican food in the area and bumped up the stars. I have eaten here a couple of times before and really enjoyed myself. The margaritas are good, the enchiladas are good, the flautas are good, and the salsa is fantastic! I looove the salsa. I just hope the curse of this building doesn't get them in the end. Every restaurant that I can remember being in there has started off really great, then declined and eventually closed. read more

No place is perfect, but any time I've had an issue, I've been treated respectfully and had it taken care of immediately. The food is great and everyone is always polite. I've rarely had to flag a waiter down for anything. Other servers often stop by to make sure everything's how it's supposed to be. The service is extremely fast too. I call in carry-out orders as often as I dine-in and I rarely ever have to wait for them. They say about ten minutes and it's hardly ever longer than that. This is my go-to for any time I want to eat out, and I take my nieces and nephews here all the time. They love it. read more

My boyfriend LOVES this place, but I think it's your average mexican restaurant. They have good salsa, not watered down like some places. The staff is very, very nice. I got a to-go order from there this past Friday, just an order of some tacos, and it was ready for me in under 5 minutes. The prices a very reasonable, as are most mexican restaurant. It was pretty good! I agree with another poster about feeling rushed (not quite as bad as her experience). Salsa and chips were good. Chicken quesadilla from appetizer menu is huge and I took 3/4 home! Carne asada was delishhhh! No horchata for my partner, but I was offered a Mexican coke in a bottle when I turned my nose up at the Pepsi products. I love bottled drinks! Silly, I know. I just moved into the area and have been looking for "new favorites" This place was incredible. The service was fast, and the staff was so friendly. Everything I have tried was delicious; from killer guacamole to perfect fajitas. The most surprising was the pork tamale. I got it as just an extra to have on the side, but it turned out to be AMAZING and I kept daydreaming about it as soon as I left. Definitely will be a regular here! read more

I have been here a few times before and was good, however my Mom and I read the menu and thought we would try something different. We ordered the Steak Ranchero. It said sirloin tips. While we were waiting we were greeted to hair in our salsa. The waiter told us it was a tomato. I know the difference between a hair and a freaking tomato! The food came and sirloin tips my butt, it was a disgusting price of poorly cooked carne asada. I'm from California and I know decent Mexican food. I will never go back. read more

The only reason for a one star is because I like the enchilada sauce, but the service is horrible. My friends and I all ordered simple plates of food; they ruined them all. Then we politely tried telling them they messed up. One of the waiters tried proving us wrong and then realized his mistake but he would not fix the problem. My enchilada was cold and I said specifically side of BEANS and not rice. What does he do? He brings a plate of rice. Very disappointing. read more

Love this place eat here at least once a week. Use to be a Salsitas fan but after eating here I was hooked. They will make things anyway you want (add this minus that) and the fajitas are to die for! Tons of flavor to everything, the staff is great and fun. They will get to know you and ask after your family when you come in! Nice bar area so you can come and have drinks and chips if that's all you want! I also like that they have different things on the menu then the typical Mexican restaurant such as the chicken and spinach or the bacon wrapped shrimp! I have been here to eat twice, and was impressed with both food ( for Mexican american) and service each visit. Once I sat in a booth and once at the bar and both had great service. El Jalapeño definitely is the second best Mexican Restaurant in the Mahoning Valley...second only to Los Gallos in Boardman.

My friend, her dad, and I went out to eat at El Jalapeno because we were looking for a fast place to get in and get out very quickly. This place did just that! The service was fast, the food was amazing, and everyone that worked their had a smile on their face. It was a great experience! The prices are great, too. Deliciously, I chose to get the quesadilla and so did my friend. I forgot the number, but I believe it was #14. It was awesome, (though I prefer the beef over the chicken) but what really surprised me was their service! They refilled our chips in under 1 minute and right when I set down my glass of water knowing that I wanted some more, problem solved! A dude came running and gave me a refill without question. Thats the best and quickest service I have seen in a long time w/o waiting forever! I am going to come back! I am now going here on Friday to take my family and show them how amazing this place is! read more

I've been here numerous times, i've never once had a bad experience while eating here. The service is stellar, I can guarantee that you've never had service as good as this anywhere. The food is always served hot, and your drinks and chips will never be low. I've never had anything on the menu I didn't like. The salsa is fabulous, best salsa in the area. I give them one star because the food was good. The service however was the absolute worst service I have ever had!! I will never go there again no matter how good the food was. The server pretty much threw my food on the table and gave us the check before we even started eating. Not one time did he check to see if we needed anything. I am from San Antonio Texas and have only lived here for a short while, since i have been here i think i have been to every restaurant around this area and have been disappointed. But this restaurant was fantastic!!!! I got the seafood enchiladas and i got one regular enchilada just to try it because i haven't eaten a good enchilada yet and i was so impressed with it... the service was fast and friendly.
