9/19/2025 - This is what a 430am delicious 3 taquito meal looks like!\ (full disclosure & my guac was on the side)
    Mikhail H.

I am so glad that I gave them another go! Just ordering was way better than I remember. Yes, I am that person who wants food at 430 in the morning, you don't know me! They do and I thank them for all the options.... I see the 3 taquito combo with beans and rice, yum! Do I not want .... oh ok, nope and nope but guac, I want it but not ON it... click on the side??! Yes, perfect! And a side enchilada to try out...omg, carnitas in an enchilada? It was as delicious as it sounds and I gotta say, perfect sauce and amount. My taquitos were still crispy and everything was just what I needed. Livi, I will definitely be back much sooner! Also, a few major notes I discovered while perusing that menu... they have ensalada that looks INCREDIBLE. The description (seriously read this!) is mixed greens, carrots, black beans, corn, onions, cilantro, tomatoes, cheese, pumpkin seeds, pecans and avocado slices. I want to order that with some of those carnitas! I love that they have a crazy amount of fruits and vegetable options, down to whole pieces of fruit! I sometimes have to order in for days due to mobility issues (tissue disorder) and I try to order almost like I am grocery shopping. Good salads and fruit bowls are such a beautiful thing to add on. Even just my order clearly was using very fresh ingredients and you can order a long list of sides like radishes and other veggies, including Mexican street corn in a cup! Unfortunately they do not have pico de gallo, they just have salsa roja which is not my thing but their guac is pretty delicious. I was surprised by the pepper but I am not white...I am translucent so I am hyper sensitive to spice. They can totally probably help you out.

Definitely not your ordinary Food truck. It's outside of a restaurant and they rent the restaurant inside. Plenty of ease of ordering. Big menu board with a contact free touch screen ordering stand. You can walk up and order too. Food preparation is quite quick. Food is flavorful and filling. All kinds of choices. It's a really high quality food truck. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside the restaurant ambience leaves a little to be desired. Hard to hear yourself think let alone have a good conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe not the vibe they are going for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's loud MTV style Spanish videos going one after the other. All the videos are seemingly exactly the same. The songs all appear to be telling the same story. Just not my cup of tea.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems like they are aiming to a specific clientele rather than a broad spectrum audience[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food quality carries the day

Couldn't ask for better 24hr tacos [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love that they're a taco truck but also have indoor space and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's so cold right now and being inside is a blessing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And they have champurrado! Staff is friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They've put in an ice cream and fruit juice bar and some arcade games since I've last been here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm really happy to see this place is still around and upgrading.

I've been living in West Portland Park for over a year now and somehow I missed a 24 hour taco cart right down the street from me in Tigard. This is not a good thing, and could also be a potential problem. I mean, I can wake up now at 3am and go run down the street and get a breakfast burrito or birria. Basically, I'll probably have to spend more time at the gym. Sigh. I got a three taco plate with refried bean and rice. It also came with a roasted jalapeño and radishes. My meat choices were asada, carnitas and chorizo. They gave me all three hot sauce options and green was the best tasting of the three and the habanero wasn't all that hot (at least for me). The carnitas and chorizo were good but the asada needed more seasoning and was a bit dry. The beans and rice were great. They have plenty of choices and yeah, I'll be back to try one or more of the other options and they also have dessert, like flan. Not many carts offer a dessert and you can't beat a good flan. So, I'll have to taste that pretty soon. If nothing else, my daughter will be jealous about that. Enjoy. Support local.

By the looks of the exterior I thought I stumbled upon a hidden gem, but sadly no. The guy who took my order was super nice and I appreciate the spacious dining area. The menu is vast. The breakfast burrito ranks in the bottom tier of any I tried, and I've ordered many. While I do like the potatoes soft, the entire thing tasted like mush. Speaking of which, all dishes ordered had a blandness to them. The militias lacked crispness, looks like the tortilla was right out of the package. Carnitas are probably my goto barometer of overall quality, but no flavor or charred edges here. The margarita was decent, but low end. One and done.

Clockwise from the top - 3 Tacos Plate, Birria Quesataco, Pan de Elote

We ordered Birria Quesatacos, 3 tacos plate and pan de elote (cornbread) for an Uber Eats Sunday Delivery. The Birria was amazing, served with a rich consume. Everything was delicious!

I got the Torta with Al Pastor and the best way to describe it is nostalgic. The torta is super flavorful and I'm usually worried the bread is going to be dry but this bread wasn't. I also got the cheese with poblano peppers Tamale which was surprisingly good. The tamale was a great size for the price and it is covered in a red sauce and cheese. Definitely worth it and taste great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was efficient and the space is a good truck with outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Alllll those ONIONS, uncooked and chewy/crispy. And where is the chicken in this breakfast burrito with chicken?
    Michael S.

To be fair this was a delivery order. And also, they really are open 24 hours. One star for that. It was very simple, a chicken breakfast burrito with avocado added and rice and beans on the side. First few bites contained very little chicken and a thin sliver of avocado. About halfway through I considered tossing it because THERE WERE SOOOOOO MANY ONIONS.....and uncooked at that. This should have been an ONION breakfast burrito with rice, a tablespoon of chicken and a thin sliver of avocado. Never again! Just bad. It makes an Egg McMuffin from McDonalds look like a high-end breakfast sandwich. I tossed about 3/8 of the thing in the trash.

I was originally going to go to taco bell (what a mistake that would have been). I saw this as I was driving by and thought I should give it a try. The beef tacos came out wonderfully like little steak bites in corn shells. Just the right amount of spice and veggies. I will definitely stop back when I'm in the Tigard area as this was just to tasty to pass up again. They do have indoor dining too I just didn't stop inside. So, I cannot comment on the ambiance of the dining room. Don't pass this one up.

Their breakfast burritos are tasty, simple, and while sometimes inconsistent, are still a nice warm meal first thing on a Saturday. However, in the last few months, every time I enter, there's a Sonos speaker that is playing music ON BLAST. It's been in a few different locations; over the condiment bar, or behind the register near the kitchen, and at such a volume that I could barely hear the employee at the register, and I had to raise my voice to be heard by them. Additionally, the employee that normally works the register does the bare minimum you would expect for someone taking your order at a register. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. I get my order out in in a timely manner, but I get the sense that, while this is a family-run restaurant, they're not necessarily including their patrons as part of that family. I think their main challenge is their drive thru. They seem to have one person working the register, drive thru, and handling incoming phone orders the majority of the times I've come in. I'll never skip out on this place, but I avoid dining in anymore. You don't come for the vibes or service, really just a quick and tasty meal.

When we walked in for a Sunday dinner, we were greeted with the smell of roasting chicken and charcoal, a promising sign from the very start. It was pretty busy inside, but after ordering at the counter, the food only took about 15 minutes to arrive. Whole Chicken Meal ($27.74) - The meal comes with two 12 oz sides, an 8oz salsa, and either corn or flour tortillas. For the sides we went with the classic Mexican Rice and the Refried Beans. Both are pretty standard stuff from a Mexican restaurant. The rice is tender with still distinct grains, has an reddish color from tomatoes, and adds a scant amount of veggies mixed through. The beans are mostly smooth throughout, fatty and creamy. We went with the corn tortillas, of which they provide a whole stack of twelve, warmed until steaming, making them hot, soft, and pliable, perfect to eat with the chicken and sides. The chicken is legitimately amazing. Basically the entire restaurant smells like chicken fat being charred over mesquite. It's a mesmerizing smell that made me salivate upon walking in. The chicken is whole roasted with the dark meat and wings being cooked until succulent and juicy. The interior of the breasts are a bit dry, but there's not much that can be done with this cooking method! Otherwise, the char is excellent, creating an almost crust-like nature to the skin and the spice mix imbues a yellow glow to the entire tray. They give so much food that we only finished perhaps a quarter of it. We ended up bringing the rest home on our drive up the next day and ate it for another couple of meals. (5/5) I especially love their salsa bar off to the side of the main counter. There's so much variety, there's surely something to please anyone. They have a mild tomato, a mild but smoky, a spicy and fruity, a green tangy tomatillo, a creamy avocado, a crunchy fresh pico de gallo, a smoky and spicy, and a tangy and spicy salsa - basically all combinations someone could ask for. Even the spiciest additions are still very tolerable to my tastes. We were impressed enough to visit again the next day for lunch: Supreme Burrito al Pastor ($14.37) - This is hefty burrito, almost Mission-sized, being around 4 inch in diameter with the weight to match. It's first filled with plenty of Mexican rice, same as with the meal. For some reason, this time, the rice is hard and tough, like they had reached down to scrape the bottom of the rice cooker. It would likely be the most coveted portion of rice in a tagine or clay pot, but in a burrito, the toughness doesn't work well. On top of the rice are the refried beans, spooned over intermittently. It adds creaminess and fat to the otherwise dry exterior layers. Then the layer of meat begins - cubed pork, marinated in a savory and sweet sauce, then mixed up with chopped pineapples. It's more adobada than al pastor, and is on the sweeter end of things with the pineapple. The spice mixture isn't the most notable; they definitely focus on the chicken at El Jefe vs. the pork. Veggies, including lettuce and a pico de gallo mix cover the meat, followed by thinly shredded cheese and sour cream, which is thick and rich, perhaps more resembling crema than cream, and some guacamole, tangy and fatty. It's not the most even application - for example, the guac only covers one end of the burrito while the sour cream covers the other end. (4/5) I have to say, the chicken served at EL Jefe Grill is perfection. I would revisit just for that. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms Note: El Jefe charges a 2.9% credit card fee. This is displayed at the register, but they have their POS set up incorrectly. Firstly, they lump the cost into the menu item instead of separating it out into a fee. Secondly, they actually charge a random fee rather than 2.9%. For example, the whole chicken meal is 3.1% and the supreme burrito is 2.7%. Very bizarre. I reported it to their management so hopefully it gets fixed soon.
