I genuinely love this spot for so many reasons, every time I come here I have a positive experience. My all-time favorite is the chorizo breakfast burrito, but you will be happy with anything you order off their menu, it's all prepared fresh daily. All of their employees, including the owner Diego who's been there working every day since 2014, are incredibly friendly and hard-working. It's easy to see the pride in their work and the appreciation they have for their customers. If I'm not in the drive-thru, it's always super clean and they have an awesome toppings bar for those who take the time to go in and check it out. It's convenient, the window lady is always kind, and the burrito itself is serviceable; not in my Top 3, but still good enough to grab one pretty consistently in my rotation. They're a decent size, but I usually find the egg/potato/bean proportions are too stacked toward the latter two ingredients, though some days the cook will surprise me with a killer burrito, fluffy eggs and all. I am very picky about shrimp. Some of best shrimp I have ever eaten. Stopped by with my father, around lunchtime. Drive-through and the restaurant were both very busy. Don Pedro is positioned somewhere above Taco Bell, Baja Fresh, Chipotle, and all of the other fast food Mexican joints in town. It's not a top notch Mexican place, but everything I have ever had has been solid. It's a good value, and the workers are super friendly. They even graciously put up with my terrible Spanish. But no, once I get home and open the box, what do I see not three enchiladas but just (1) that's singular. Picked up some take out for the first time from this spot, it was easy, quick, and service was friendly. I got the veggie burrito and a side of guacamole. Veggie burrito was MASSIVE and full of unexpected veggies like mushroom, zucchini, and carrots and was super tasty. Especially with the addition of the guac which was fresh and delicious. We shared chips and salsa and a cheese quesadilla. Simple but good. My partner got a chimichanga with steak (which I also tasted) and we both enjoyed. This review is a little late, since I've been eating here for about 4 years. Last night, we ordered the carne asada plate, carne asada burrito and the torta milanesa (breaded steak sandwich). The items weren't up to par, but we figured it was because we showed up 15 minutes to closing. My husband did call them and let them know the issues we had with our meal and they offered us credit towards our next purchase. On most visits, I order the Birria plate. Birria is a typical dish from Jalisco, Mexican and typically made with goat or mutton meat, but I'm certain they're using beef because it lacks the gamey taste of goat or mutton. They serve it with rice and beans, flour or corn tortillas and a garnish of chopped onion and Serrano peppers. Another one of my favorites is their tacos dorados, which are rolled tacos with either chicken or beef. They are generous with the meat, so you don't feel like you're eating only corn tortilla. It comes with a garnish of lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. I don't care for their guacamole (to watery), so I ask for a substitute of sour cream. My daughter always orders carne asada burrito. It's a very simple burrito. Beans, rice and meat. So if you're looking for sour cream and guacamole, I think that's extra. They do make really tasty salsas. The green and roasted are my family's favorite. I will say I don't care for their menudo (tripe soup). They don't put hominy and to me that's just abnormal, since I grew up eating it with hominy. One last recommendation, if you're going through the drive-thru, and ordering a lot of food, check your order before driving away. They have made mistakes and it's an annoyance to get home and discover they forgot to add an item. This place also has a drive thru but I prefer going inside because I liked to top my food with jalapeños, salsa etc. I never ever had an issue here except today the chips were stale. We ordered carne asada and breakfast burrito. Both delicious! I love the carne asada because it's so tender and it's topped with grilled green onion and jalapeños. Yum! a salad came with the carne asada with ranch - I really like their ranch sauce. The salsas here are pretty good -the avocado sauce is so good and creamy. Don Pedro's is a family owned chain of restaurants in the Portland metro area and I've visited the other locations in other parts of town as well as this location throughout the years. There's been good times and there's been less than good times but after today, I felt compelled to finally write a review. First of all management, I'm not sure who you hire and I don't even think it matters but goodness gracious TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE TO BE POLITE. I arrived with my senior mother and the 2 front counter ladies were too busy talking and while they noticed us, they ignored us for 2 minutes while they continued their conversation. After finally deciding to cut their conversation short, one of them finally comes up to the counter looks me up and down and says "Que van a querer" "what are you gonna want." I was appalled by the shortness and blatant rudeness, I know it's not a 5 star restaurant but have some d*mn manners. We were charged $51 for 6 tacos and a 3 enchilada platter and 3 fountain drinks, a little high for a rude taco joint but whatever, that's not the main point of my review. The rude and condescending attitude continued afterwards since they refused to make eye contact, and when the food came out, the 3 ladies left the tray at a far distance from the counter that I had to reach halfway past the register in order to grab my food. Not once, did any of the 3 ladies say thank you, or welcome, nothing...just blatantly rude. I'm Mexican myself and I was just shocked at how much they did not appreciate our business. Again management, create a customer based experience!!! The food was subpar, luckily my senior mom enjoyed her lengua tacos, me...not so much. The enchiladas had spoiled lettuce. Yes I could tell it was spoiled by the smell, taste, and visual inspection. I had to move it to the side in order to eat my meal. The beans had a ridiculously strong taste of bacon, seriously bacon?? Refried beans don't need bacon unless they're frijoles charros. It was so gross I skipped on eating the beans and the lettuce for obvious reasons. Needless to say, this is my last time ever eating at a Don Pedro's. I have never been to this location but I am a firm believer in truth in advertising. They have values set on the menu but no clear direction as to the price hike per protein. My price hike for less that 2 TABLESPOON of ground beef was almost 2.00. Had it been as fabulous as my visits to other locations I may not have gteif with it. The rice was so dry and the beans were so runny. I couldn't eat either with the fork I was given. The rice had almost no flavor. Beans were ok but it was Bean soup, I like them soft but still can be transported to my mouth via plastic forks provided. My experience started off terribly when I came in one morning for breakfast burritos. I gave the cashier (a young lady), my card which she proceeded to swipe a total of 5 times all to get denied because she didn't realize the receipt paper was gone from the card reader. I was charged a whopping 72.50 for two burritos. It was very busy so I decided to come back later for my refund. During this time I was treated properly, like a true valued customer. They gave me a free meal for the inconvenience and they're working on giving me a full refund. We came for the breakfast burrito, which is a tough find in this area! We went through the drive thru which is always packed every time we drive by. Surprisingly our order was fast AND accurate (especially because I ordered mine with no meat and I always panic a bit at the drive-thru that they'll get it wrong). My husband had the huevos (and he changed his order mid-order; again they got it right. Neutral * Breakfast burritos are decent, but potatoes are not as crispy as I would like. I also think it needs a teeny bit more salt, but you can always add that later to taste.
