We were very hungry after a long day exploring Death Valley and this place is just was I was hoping for. Our waitress was so friendly and checked on us throughout our meal to make sure we had enough water, chips and salsa, etc. I ordered the 3-item combo with cheese enchilada, chicken enchilada and beef taco. The enchiladas and beans were good; but the rice was a bit dry and crunchy. My husband really enjoyed his lengua burrito. Would not recommend. Recently had lunch with a small group of friends. First time here for me. I ordered the Menudo. The initial taste of the soup was good. my opinion went down from there. Missing was tripe and hominy. I found two large segmented bones in the bowl. I attempted to express my unhappiness while paying at the register. The young lady was quick to defend the menudo. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Pahrump for over 15 years. This is family-owned and their food is consistently good, some of it outstanding. Their service is fast and friendly. I feel at home there. The prices are reasonable. We've tried all the other Mexican (except the new taco places) restaurants and this is the one that we keep returning to. read more

Food was alright, nothing too special but not bad either. Burrito was mid, just beans rice and unflavored strips of meat. Chicken diablo had nice heat, good sauce flavor, but chicken itself was a little tougher than I would've liked. Margarita was good, well priced and tasty, albeit a little too sweet. El jefes 2 Burnece was amazing and so are the other employees that we had met there. It was so busy. They were supposed to close at 7:30 but the place was packed and more people were coming in, I guess they're decided to stay open as long as people are hungry. We were not disappointed In our selection of food, salsa,chips, and the margaritas were great. This place is special, hard working business people. When was the last time anybody offered prune juice, LOL. The only thing that I saw that could be improved, is they need to wipe down their doors, that was a bit disgusting. Called here at 7pm on a Wednesday to place an order. I was helped immediately and said my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I ordered a vegetarian nacho and cheese quesadilla. When I arrived my meal was ready. The staff weren't super friendly but they were efficient. They put the sour cream, guacamole, and salsa on the side which was nice so my items didn't get soggy. The food had good flavor. I would definitely come back here if I am in the area again. read more

If you did not know, El Jefe is Spanish for "the boss". And since this is the Boss number two (2) then you know it has to be up to snuff. I desperately looking for a late dinner the other day in the old west town of Pahrump. It was almost 8 and the town many Mexican shops had given up the ghost, and my taste for tacos was not going to subside. I saw that this location might might still be open so I called. The lady answered, took my order and said, don't worry about the closing sign, just come in. The mercy of the desert has showed it's face and my Carne Asada tacos were delicious. Ordered the Taco Salad asked for the guacamole and sour cream to be on the side as they tend to get me a little sick. They brought it out not on the side and asked them to put it on the side they just scooped it off and brought back out. I hade to explain that the sour cream still on it will make me sick. After that they finally brought me a new one without the items asked to be on the side. Simple thing for the food industry on the side means not on top of what I asked for. read more

One of our go to spots whenever we're in town. We usually order the Al Pastor, it's our favorite protein here of all the ones we tried. We enjoyed the Quesadillas, tacos, nachos and soups. I learned many years ago, that often the best food in rural Nevada are the Mexican Restaurants. While El Jefe's has some competition in Pahrump for "best food", this ended up being a great option for someone needing a cold Margarita and some traditional comfort food - southwestern style. I was solo dining and was greeted warmly and given my choice of seats. Chips and salsa were brought right away and my lovely generous Margarita was provided quickly - just the way I like it - tart and sweet with a good balance of tequila all poured over ice in a salt rimmed glass with a slice of lime. Sublime! I ordered my traditional first meal at a new Mexican restaurant - Cheese Enchiladas with red sauce and a side of beans and rice. It was very good. The food was piping hot and served on traditional glazed plates. Portions were generous and the sauce was thick and spicy. It definitely tasted house made. Service was friendly and she checked back on my satisfaction with the food and drink. Prices are very reasonable, and the food was of good quality. I would definitely eat here again when staying in Pahrump. read more

Typical Amercan-style-Mexican food with acceptably friendly staff, lots of menu choices, & a strange layout for a sit-down place. When you enter, there is a counter that looks like this might be a place where you go order then they bring your food to you. But it turns out, you wait to be seated, then a server comes and takes care of your order, meal delivery, & manages your bill. I was going to order tacos because they looked pretty good and had good reviews but instead I went for the Chili Verde (green chili pork). A friend had the Asada tacos and said they were good. My pork was a nice blend of spicy hot & tender pork chunks. It was served with tortillas, rice & beans. The rice & beans were pretty bland (pretty much what you always get at places like this). All I can say is I would definitely give this spot more than 5 stars. I appreciate your team, at least they ask if we want it spicy or not.
