Pictures does this place no justice by far one of the better El Magueys in the state. Everything was perfect, the customer service was great,the food was well seasoned, the drinks was strong and chips and salsa fresh as could be. Now it looks small on the outside but with booths joining the outer walls and tables center through the middle. Time changes things. It's been a few years since we've been here. It's no where near as good as it was last time. The food is either bland or way too salty and you have to ask to have your drink refilled. Asking for a refill is not a problem except 18% gratuity is automatically added into parties of 5 including children. There's no tip to work for since it's automatic. They're all kind, it's just that restaurants cost way too much money anymore for service to not be at the very least half decent every time. read more

Our waitress had a seriously bad attitude. My food was ok but my friends food was dry and when she requested for cheese to be added to it so that it was made as it usually is they wanted to charge extra and when we requested to speak with a manager our request was ignored. After continually asking for a manager one finally showed up and was not accommodating at all. My friend just sent the food back and did not eat. I have been here numerous times and never had an issue but after this experience I will not be returning. There are too many other food options to choose from to choose one with bad service. Save your money and go to another restaurant. This place literally made me sick. It was a waste of money and it was the most disgusting Mexican food I have ever had. You can see from my prior reviews that I seldom give bad reviews because I like to support businesses. However, this place is disgusting and I'm surprised it is still open for business. Even the salsa was nasty and soured as if it had been sitting in the refrigerator six months past its expiration date. Have visited a couple times over the last few months. 1 dine in experience and 1 online order experience. The food is prepared quickly! If you don't have alot of time, go here! The online order took 7 min to be ready and the dine in maybe took just a few min longer than that. Dine in, I had the Sampler. It comes with 4 wings, 2 triangles of cheese quesadilla, 2 triangles of chicken quesadilla and 2 chicken flautas. It's tasty, but the chicken flautas are dry. These need a sauce, so make sure to get some. To go order, chicken wings and beef tacos, all of it great! They have really good chicken wings! read more

I ordered to go. They do an excellent job packing. I treated myself to guacamole with chips. The chips were crispy and fresh. The guac was a good portion and hit every highnote. This location just reopened and I went with a couple friends during the dinner hour. We were seated immediately and our waiter was pretty attentive. Our chips and salsa were brought out very quickly and we didn't have to pay for any of that. My prickly pear margarita was perfect, on the rocks and well balanced in flavor. I would definitely order it again. My shrimp chimichanga appeared to be small to me for some reason but I barely finished it. It was fully loaded with delectable shrimp. OMG.... Thumbs up to this restaurant. This restaurant is a hidden gem.... I had no idea this Mexican restaurant with such great food was here in Florissant.... I went around 4pm to beat the dinner crowd and I'm a small town girl that like small crowds. When you first walk in you are greeted nicely by the staff. The restaurant was not crowded like I like.... They seated me promptly. Once seated they immediately brought out my chips and salsa, then moments later my margarita... I was starving when I got there so I barely touched my margarita I just munched on the chips and salsa.... Then about 5 minutes later my main course was there.... Service was superb. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this place for date night or a loner like myself. The restaurant is decorated nicely and you can people watch or listen to music playing at the restaurant for added entertainment. read more

El Maguey Florissant is the newest location in Florissant. It is back open after being closed for a little while. We decided to go Friday evening after work. Both drink specials but they do have a small pitcher of margarita reasonable priced. You can mix flavors so I got the frozen passion fruit and peach margarita mixed. You can get them frozen or on the rocks. This was delicious. We were seated as soon as we came in and the restaurant was crowded at all when we first arrived but as the night went on more people came in. Service was immediate and the waitress took our order quickly. I had the Pappas locas with chicken instead of beef. This is my go to. It was delicious with the jalapenos. I hate to leave El Maguey a bad review because I love their food (always fresh and delicious) BUT my last two experience were not great. I am a pescatarian but eat a primarily vegetarian diet. I ordered shrimp fajita nachos and there was chicken in my nachos but I believe I saw and picked out all of the chicken so I don't think I ate any. I ordered veggie fajitas and there was steak in my fajitas. Luckily I noticed it while I was chewing but being that I haven't eaten meat in over a year, it still hurt my stomach. There are several good Mexican restaurants in the Florissant area but we know El Maguey has the best food (everything so fresh), the friendliest wait staff, excellent drinks, large portions, and a great atmosphere. A couple of weeks ago I hosted a party at my home. I want it to be a stress-free with no work party. I had El Maguey cater the food. They worked with me on the menu to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. The day of the party when we picked up the food, the packaging could not have been better. The food was hot, fresh, and ready to sit on the buffet table. They covered everything for our tacos and fajitas down to a container of sour cream. Best of all they are affordable. I love the food at El Maguey. A bit disappointed as my daughter ordered my favorite (Pollo Cancun) for me from the Florissant location. She picked it up so I wouldn't have to go out at night to pick it up. When I got home the wrong order was given to her. I didn't have the car keys o take it back.
