Husband and I are staying at the Renaissance airport hotel and with our stay came the free breakfast which they serve from 6-10am every week day morning. We checked into the hotel on Sunday so I first got to use my free breakfast voucher on the following Monday. The host at the main entrance was kind and told me I could sit wherever I wanted and to help myself to the buffet. Once I found a table I was greeted by a nice male waiter who asked me if I would like coffee and a made to order omelette, which I definitely said yes. The buffet consisted of your usual, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits, assorted fresh fruits, a waffle station for you to make yourself. Yogurts and pastries. Along with my made to order omelette I chose some of their potatoes and fresh fruits. Not long after my omelette arrived freshly made and it was ready good. The waiter came back to see if I would like a juice to go with my breakfast and brought me out a cranberry juice. He was very attentive, he even asked if I would like to take a coffee to go when I was done eating and also brought me a cup so I could take my juice as well. I made sure to leave him a tip for his outstanding service. Now we're staying here for 7 days, so each morning I went down for breakfast, unfortunately the gentleman that helped me the day before was now working the front so I had a waitress this time. She appeared to be attentive on this visit. Instead of telling me i could sit anywhere she lead me to a seat and brought me coffee. This time I had to ask for an omelette and juice and when I asked for a to go cup she obliged and brought me a fresh cup and a to go juice that I asked for. I also left her a tip. Day three and up to Friday the day I'm writing my review. My breakfast morning experience has gone down hill. I unfortunately haven't seen the gentleman again, only the lady. When I come in she's nowhere to be found, so I just take a seat and go to the buffet, when she finally shows up I have to flag her down for a coffee and a omelette. When I ask for a to go cup for coffee or juice she's really slow to bring them back to my table. Once she does bring them back and I say thank you she just turns around and walk away with no response, rude. Overall the buffet here is pretty decent and if they could train the lady to be more courteous and professional like the first guy I had I would have given them a 5 star rating, but with me having to flag the lady down and getting a bit of an attitude response I am giving them a 3 rating solely based on her service. read more

Ordered the French Onion soup and braised short ribs. The soup had an odd red color and wasn't a traditional French onion soup. Didn't seem like it was made with red wine and beef broth. More like a sour Cajun taste. The braised beef was tough and was pretty salty. Service wasn't the greatest. I think the server had my entire order sent to the wrong table because each drink and food serving went to another table and so had to tell them the order was mine. The dining room has worn down over the years and it shows. The upholstery on the seats are cracked and torn, and you have to be careful that your clothes don't get torn in them. Dinner? I came and sat and waited for almost an hour for dinner while basically everyone else in the dining room came and went. It wasn't busy, but apparently I drew the low card. I threatened to leave. A-Ok. Renaissance Hotel Lobby Lounge/Restaurant, visited this evening around 5p and bustling with activity. Candace provided us with service and was very friendly and attentive. Ample seating throughout and the space is inviting for hotel guest and locals who wish to drop in. The order took about 10 min to come out and everything was hot and fresh. Wings had good flavor, but could have been cooked a bit crisper. Tomatoes were tasty, but the sauce was a tad tart in flavor. Fries were crispy, hut had a bit too much seasoning. What a unique environment! I love the decor and service at this restaurant that is located inside the Renaissance hotel at the St. Louis airport! Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the expectations that the initial experience led you to believe would follow! I ordered the scallops which were ok - they were cooked fine but the grits and vegetables that accompanied it left a lot to be desired. One of my friends ordered the chicken and dumplings and left most of it on the plate. Another one of our group ordered the pork steak and said it was pretty good. So 1 out of three on this trip. The prices are pretty high so I would expect more. I always give a restaurant with potential another try though. Maybe next time I try it again it will be better! read more

Eero's offers an inviting contemporary vibe while taking a modern spin on local St. Louis favorites such as a St. Louis pork steak with Fitz's root beer bbq sauce, pimento mac n' cheese and braised greens or the Missouri trout, which is always one of my favorite menu items to order when dining at this restaurant. For dinner at a hotel, Eero's could have done a lot better. Ordered the ribeye and it took longer than 30 minutes to get that out. In fact, the gentleman that sat down 10-15 minutes after me received his food before I did (the burger). How does that happen? Another table on the other side ordered the ribeye too and it came out in less than 15 minutes. As for the taste, it was okay, sadly nothing special to write about other than what I paid for didn't justify the high price. The food was amazing! I ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer and the seated scallops the entree. Both dishes were creative and very tasty. The deviled eggs were made with Collinsville horseradish, pretzel pate, and micro greens on a nest of fried leeks. The seared scallops were tender and came with amazing smoked tomato gouda grits and shaved brussel sprouts. They were topped with a unique and tasty arugula pesto. read more

I read a review of Norah's in Sauce a couple of years ago and never got around to trying it. Recently a Groupon opportunity reminded me of this, we purchased one and finally made it over to The Renaissance for dinner. How many of us really go to a hotel restaurant when we are not staying there. I don't think I ever have, in fact I usually avoid them even when I am staying. The Renaissance does not make it really easy for a non-guest to dine here. You have to valet your car since the parking is all gated. Then you have to find the restaurant. It is hidden behind the bar and there were no signs (at least not obvious), so we had to wait for the front desk to have someone free to show us where to go. I am told by a friend, familiar with the hotel business that they love to have non-guests come in and patronize their restaurants. Apparently the management of The Renaissance has not come to that conclusion. Finally when we found the restaurant, there was no host/hostess and no servers in sight. We waited ten minutes and it was the Groupon that kept us there. It turned out that there was one and only one server/greeter for the evening and he was run ragged. So the evening did not start out well, but it did get better. We actually had a good meal. The menu is not large or extremely creative. It is mid-range between basic and American new, but our dinners were well prepared, seasoned well and enjoyable. Maybe I should call it upscale comfort food. You do very much feel like you are dining in a hotel restaurant, off the lobby bar with the weekend tourist families. I started with Field Greens for a salad. They were fresh and well dressed (perhaps a little too much) and the serving was large. Ms T ordered roasted chicken that was served with gnocchi and a vegetable mixture that included edamame, so she loved it. Her chicken was well prepared and seasoned. She was very happy with it all. There was a nice garlicky sauce on the gnocchi and the chicken. Half of this plate traveled home with us and warmed up very well. I did what I rarely do and ordered a steak. This was a good sized ribeye. It was flame grilled medium rare, perhaps more to the medium side, but not overdone. It was also seasoned well and served with a huge mound of rustic mashed potatoes and crisp tender brocolini. I ate half of the large steak there and had the rest sliced thin at home the next day with some sautéed cremini mushrooms, for great tacos. These were well prepared dinners and the plates were well filled and attractive. Prices were not out of line for the quality of the food and portions. It's kind of a shame about the location. It is unlikely we will trek over by the airport and deal with the parking situation and the hotel restaurant feel, but the food we had would be welcome again. This is a "restaurant" in the Renaissance hotel. It's actually just a curtain splitting the bar and a restaurant looking seating area, looks like a hotel lobby split in half. The menu is the same in the restaurant and the bar so doesn't matter which side of the curtain that you are on. I ordered the two cheese soup and the chicken ciabatta sandwich and all I can say is holy salt batman - never had a meal that had more. With my high blood pressure I thought someone called in a slow hit - damn boys stop putting salt into the pepper shaker because it was awful. I know restaurant meals are salty but it was overwhelming. Small wine by the glass menu and choices all pretty bad. Had a few good beers on tap. Only redeeming quality was the waitress was a lovely woman and very welcoming. read more

Let's talk service! How long does it take for someone to notice you at the bar with a bar manager (she had a blazer on ‍ opposed to a button up), a waitress and 2 bartenders? You would think ASAP ..seeing as I was the only new face being served AFTER the hockey game, but NO it took 10 min! UPDATE- I saw men around me ordering drinks and food as soon as they came to the bar. Ultimately, I tipped lower than I usually do because I believe in great customer service. Let's talk food! The menu was limited af and I'm currently drinking my water with a cocktail straw . My food came out quick and hot the crab cakes were thinner than my usual, but flavorful. The French onion soup was "meh".... the cheese was awesome and gooey, but I could taste the wine in the soup, as well as the croutons were already incorporated in the soup and not on top.... so they were mush once it arrived. Another 15 minute wait. Ordered a steak medium rare and it showed up medium well done. Amanda never returned to the table to ask how the meal was. After the meal went to the bar for a beer. Having solo dinner on Friday night at an airport hotel. Long week. Was tempted to go to Waffle House next door - as I usually hate hotel restaurants. At least you know what you're getting at the Waffle House. And a pecan waffle for dinner can cure all kinds of sadness. But had the best restaurant Rib-eye ever - and I don't say that lightly. I love this restaurant because the food was so good. The steak tenderloin and the goose bladder was so delicious but it took 3 1/2 hours of waiting to get. Decided to try out Norah's restaurant while staying at the Renaissance Hotel during a business trip. I will say the environment and personality of the staff was great. The food on the other hand was sub par. Ordered the Angus Burger and was greeted with a poor quality burger and a lead of browning lettuce. Bacon on the burger was inconsistently cooked with some pieces being crispy and others soggy. A decent meal for a decent price. I believe you get what you paid for and that's what I got. read more
