We came here for lunch and I ordered the flautas and I got 2 with beef and 2 with chicken. The beef flautas were my favorite. I dipped the flautas in the sour cream and guacamole. Great flavors. The chicken flautas had shredded chicken and some of the chicken was a little chewy. I think they need to chop the shredded chicken and it would have made it a lot more enjoyable. We received very friendly and prompt service. It was my friend's birthday so they brought him a good size bowl of ice cream with honey and whipped cream. It was very good. We visited Chimi's Fresh-Mex on Saturday, August 22 around 8:30 PM. We were greeted warmly by the hostesses, but unfortunately, the service at our table was much less welcoming. Our waitress approached the table without a greeting or introduction and immediately told us, "We close at 9." I asked if that meant we were unable to order, and she said no, they just closed at 9. After checking the website, I saw that the restaurant actually closed at 9:30 PM, which the hostess also confirmed. The waitress later acknowledged that she had gotten the closing time mixed up, but there was never really an apology for how we were initially treated. The service continued to be disappointing throughout the visit. My sister ordered a soda that was never brought to the table, while our waitress spent time at the hostess station talking and laughing. My sister eventually had to walk over to the station to order an alcoholic beverage. At that point, the waitress asked if she still wanted the soda she had never received. The food was good, as it usually is, but unfortunately the service did not match. What makes this most disappointing is that this has not been an isolated experience. We have noticed similar service issues during several of our recent visits. Chimi's has been the setting for many great memories for my family over the years, so I genuinely hope the service improves. I would hate to stop visiting a restaurant we have enjoyed for so long because we no longer feel welcomed or valued as customers. read more

I had heard that Chimi's has really good Mexican food, so, of course, I had to try it. I think it was okay. I ordered the nachos with shredded chicken and the chimichanga carta with steak. First of all, the chimi had wayyyyyyyyy too much queso on top. I couldn't eat even half because it was just too much, I also didn't care too much for the steak. The nachos were also just alright. I think it would have been better without the chicken. I don't think I would return if I was wanting Mexican food in St. Louis. read more

My husband I go to this location often. This is by far the best Chimi's Fresh-Mex in St Louis. The quality of the food here is exceptional and it always tastes so fresh. This visit my husband got the shredded beef chimichanga and I got the veggie chimichanga with no cheese or sour cream. We've been coming here for many years. They've recently changed the menu & made some disappointing changes. The chimichanga no longer comes with guacamole & now comes with a mushy gross corn cake or something!?! Yuck. A side of guacamole is $6.99. This place has a small parking lot next to the restaurant. However depend on if you are going at a busy time or not there may not be parking spot at the parking lot. Me and my boyfriend and one kid went here today and the parking lot was full. There are side street or parking at main Street if available where you can park which was what we did. I got passion fruit margarita, it has quite a lot of alcohol content in it. I also got the taco salad bowl. Like most Mexican restaurants, the chip and salsa are free. We ordered the Queso dip with it and it was great. My kid love to order burger and fries at a Mexican place, not sure why, however I forgot to take a picture of her food. my boyfriend had beer and grand chimichanga plate with both chicken and steak. Absolute best chips and salsa I've ever had... it was addicting. Salsa seemed very fresh. Great service and great interior design. Table was a little too sticky for my taste but food and experience was excellent. Props for presentation. Not from this area, just visiting, but absolutely would go again and recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious Mexican meal near St. Louis. Margarita: 4/5 should have had more salt on the rim and shaken before served; wasn't very cold. Ordered a medium and was very big, would recommend. Beef Chimi: 4/5 portion was excellent, opted for double side of rice instead of rice + beans and was disappointed at the quality of the rice, it could have used more flavor. Still, I've never met a rice dish I didn't like and this was no exception. Ratio of avocado salad to the chimichanga I thought was good. (You can always use the excess salad as a nacho for the chips!) D'élixir Chimi: 4/5 cheese was really good but meat was kind of dry/lacking something. Liked everything that came with it. Quesadilla: 5/5 Guac was fantastic. Liked that it was pulled chicken and not cubed. Good use of cheese, held together very well. Fish Tacos: 5/5 really liked the sauce on the side! I love Chimi's food and Ifrequent the Brighten location when I go. A couple of weeks again I called in an order for lunch and when I went to pick the order up the charge was 22.00 and some change which I charged to my credit card. When I received my CC statement I noticed I was overcharged by 6.00, I was extremely upset but had no way to prove it since it had been several days from the time of purchase until I got my cc statement. Someone decided to give themselves a 6.00 tip. I will only pay with cash if I go there again so that I'm not overcharged again. The restaurant is always clean and appealing. read more

I went there yesterday with my family first of all we got sat we had to wait 20 minutes to even get chips and salsa and another 10 minutes before we got our drinks taken care of. When we finally got our order taken we have been there for over 2 hours we finally got our food . When we were getting ready to leave every body started to pay their bills. I've been there sever times and I've never been treated that way . We had to ask to order our drinks we had to ask for salsa and chips. The food is okay, and I enjoy the thickness of the chips. What I can't get over is how grumpy the workers have been every time I've gone up to the counter to pay! It throws me off after the dining experience, which is decent, especially because the waitstaff is usually pretty pleasant to deal with. The prices are a little higher than at Mi Ranchito, so I'd rather go there. But I'll probably still end up at Chimi's occasionally because I have friends who live nearby. read more

Enchiladas are my favorite Mexican dish, and I loved the ones at Chimi's. The sauce was like what I grew up with, mild but tasty with a bit of meat. Not the stark red sauce like so many places use. Pro tip: If you want to know how good a place like Chimi's is, always order tamales. These are homemade in the restaurant, well seasoned but it is melt in your mouth good with the corn notes coming through. Steak was good and the fixings were fresh. Placed and order for: 1 large salsa 1 large cheese dip 1 extra bag of chips 1 side of rice 4 shrimp soft tacos 7 chicken soft tacos "OSCAR" took the order over the phone, we had to repeat the order to him several times before "OSCAR" CONFIRMED he had our order correct regarding the items listed above. Total came to $81.00 and some change. Picked up order, got home, found no large salsa, and 4 soft chicken tacos missing. Called back up to Chimi's in Overland. Spoke to "OSCAR" again, he apologized and stated he will put the order into the kitchen, and it would be ready in 10 minutes. at this point additional payment was never talked about. I went back up to Chimi's in Overland with the original reciept, spoke with"OSCAR". He then stated that there will be additional charges for the food that we were ALREADY charged for, and that he made an error and forgot the send the entire order to the kitchen. I spoke with 3 people in person while at Chimi's in Overland, all 3 were polite but were no help. They could not see that an ERROR was made on thier end, and that it was/is not correct to charge me again for THIER error. I spoke with the manager over the phone, she also agreed with the employee(s) and stated that I should have to pay for his ERROR. I go to Chimi's in Over land often, usually great food and service, but I am left very dis satisfied after this visit. to make a long story short here is what happened. I order food via phone. the order was confirmed via phone. I did not recieve ALL the items that were CONFIRMED/PAID FOR I returned to get ALL the items that were previously CONFIRMED/PAID FOR I was then charged to complete my original order. I really love this place , but I'll never order out again. The portions are smaller and my food was cold!!! I ordered mixed fajitas and didn't realize they changed the menu so it didn't include chorizo . It's just steak , chicken and shrimp, that use to be texas style. That's my fault for not looking. The new Parillada Mexicana is carnitas, shrimp, chorizo, steak and chicken. If I don't want carnitas in it, I'll still have to pay the same price. They were dry, not 1 drop of juice so they just put the meat and veggies in the take out dish. 3 pieces of shrimp and not many veggies. They were closing so I couldn't take it back. A regular apres church place for Mom and me. We love the festive decor, friendly and attentive staff, and the prices. We have been to most Chimi,'s, and find that this is the best. The chips and salsa are terrific. And, as of our last visit a few weeks ago, remain free. I am love the guac. I am a huge fan of the chicken chimichanga. Stuffed with juicy chicken and green chilies, there has never been a miss. My mom loves their shrimp selections. Once again, never a miss. Occasionally we share fajitas and she kindly gives me the succulent left overs. You expect good rice and beans in a Mexican restaurant. At Chimi's they aren't just a side. They are one of the highlights on the plate. They are no after thought. The only problem with Chimi's for me is that they keep me from trying new places. Such an easy go to. Our special place to eat when in Overland ,they have the friendliest staff and food it delicious every time we are there. Normally I have my favorite the Grande Chimi but tonight I had the Parillada Mexicana and boy oh boy was it a treat. Shrimp, chorizo,chicken, beef fajitas cooked with peppers onions and mushrooms served with rice and beans. Such huge portions I had leftovers for lunch the next day.
