I ate here with a group of friends and it was a pretty solid experience. I ordered the pollo Cancun and the portion size was generous (for a single dish). There's plenty of food and it was very filling. The chicken was not bad, my main issue is that it was a bit too salty which kind of took away from the overall flavour. It was okay but just didn't hit that balance that would make it really stand out. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere had that classic casual Mexican restaurant vibe. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and easygoing.

Absolutely yes! We got to sit down right away and they were fast to bring the menus and chips. We got our food and it was nice and hot! Inside is the same as it was years ago when we came to this location. We didn't feel rushed which was nice!

Broccoli, cauliflower and carrots rather than peppers and onions. Comes with chicken cheese and rice meal (arroz con pollo)

Loved this place! Javier was a great waiter. So far our favorite Mexican restaurant in St. Louis Their chicken, cheese, and rice, a common plate, came with broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. I asked for it on the side and I'm so happy with my choice to eat separately. I'm a picky eater and really appreciated the different style. Great charred taste and the chicken was good. Queso was delicious and thicker than most. Salsa wasn't chunky and truly restaurant style. The inside atmosphere felt truly like like a Mexican restaurant with impressive art, bright colors, etc.

Ok, I was a bit surprised that I liked it this much. Solid 3.5 (I rounded up to 4 stars) experience with typical midwestern Mexican food, decent salsa, friendly and attentive server, and cold drinks. What we ordered: - Pollo Michoacano (4/5) with fajita veggies: Most places call this Chori Pollo and it's been my go to dish lately at Midwestern style Mexican food joints like this one. Good portions of food, fresh and moist chicken with tasty chorizo and veggies. Cheese sauce adds some great richness. Beans and rice were average. - chicken Enchiladas Verdes (3.25/5): Okay. Would be better if the chicken was mixed in with some sauce and spices. Pretty much shredded chicken wrapped up in a tortilla covers with green sauce. Nothing special. Ordered beans on the side. - chips and salsa (3.5/5): decent, very mild salsa. Wished they left a bottle or bigger bowl on the table. Chips didn't seem too warm. Out on the patio which is well shaded in the evening before sunset. Inside is quite the vibe!

Soooo good! I was so hungry after Christmas shopping. Instead of going home and eating whatever was in the fridge, I treated myself to a table for one at El Maguey. And what a treat. The lime margarita on the rocks is just what the doctor ordered for my nerves that are shot. I wasn't sure what I wanted and I was eyeing up the street nachos. When I asked my server Kerrigan, she was like "oh ya those are good". Sold. They are amazing.

I got the steak fajitas and it was tender and delicious. The meat could use more seasoning so I asked for limes and it made a big difference. Surprisingly the bell peppers were still a little crunchy is how I like them. The fajitas meat was cut into very small pieces and I had to work at it to find all of the pieces (please don't do this in the future). We were greeted nicely when we walked in and was immediately taken to a booth. We had an amazing waiter, Cirilo. He was on top of things through the whole service plus he has a friendly personality and a good sense of humor. The restaurant has an outdoor patio which was full plus a full bar and a colorful indoor dining area. The restaurant is in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. If you haven't been, I'd give them a try.

We have been frequented El Maguey in Chesterfield Valley for a few years. I like to get their Huevos Mexicanos and Huevos Rancheros. We go there if we are on business in the Valley, but they are not open on Sunday. So, we decided to try the on Manchester at Baxter because they are open on Sunday and I like to have a Mexican egg brunch. They do a nice job on both above-mentioned dishes, Huevos Rancheros and Huevos Mexicanos. This is just what I want for Sunday brunch. The red sauce is typical with a little oregano. They are served piping hot, and the platter is full with the three eggs. I also like that they don't leave the eggs raw as some places do, with uncooked white. They make good refritos and rice. These are probably the only things I will order here except I will try the fish tacos or a fish platter. I am just not needing the big Mexican meals anymore. Apparently, the El Maguey name is a marketing connection, but the restaurants do not feature identical menus. There are differences both in what is offered and how it is prepared. As is so often true, you have to find what you like. I like their huevos. This, along with El Troquero at Hilltown, Chesterfield are our Sunday places.

    Prickly pear margarita! Really good!

Choose from an array of classics like Margarita, Mojito, and Paloma; or try one of their original crafted cocktails. The service is always friendly and professional. Their servers are prepared to answer any questions you have. I've never had food like I've enjoyed at Malinche! Every menu item has so much traditional flavor with a modern spin. Not only is the food delicious but it is plated with culinary vision like art on a plate. Menu items are designed to be shared which we love we can try multiple things. Monday and Tuesday are the only days of the week they serve tacos but you will not be disappointed by their other menu items! The name choice Malinche pays homage to a historically significant and often misunderstood female figure in Mexican history who after being sold in slavery to the Spaniards acted as a key translator and advisor during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. By naming the restaurant Malinche, it is the family's ode to their mother and head chef Doña María Gutiérrez Molina. Once your dining experience is over and you step back outside, you'll have forgotten you were eating in Ellisville and not Mexico City!

Welcome to Mission...I mean Session Taco! Some oldies on the menu and some newbies on the menu!…read moreThis visit for lunch, tried a few newbies and they did not disappoint! Crab taquitos are creamy and rich. The crisp outside provides a good contrast to the filling. Very tasty! The chicken fajita quesadilla is bit more fajita than chicken, but seasoned well and balanced with the cheese. The Big A** Nacho, I swapped chicken for the Chorizo. It reminds you of a thin and crispy crust pizza. It's quite good with the beans, cheese, sour cream drizzle. It's big enough for 2 to share or 1 person to eat 1/2 and take some home. Session does a good job turning the orders around quickly for the lunch hour, but you might need 1hr and 15 min to safe. Enjoy!

The guacamole was the only decent option, in my opinion - the queso had no flavor and tasted like straight Velveeta, while the salsa was very watery and tasted of straight cilantro (and I normally like cilantro, but this was... a lot) Tacos came out and they were cold. The flavors themselves weren't bad, but it was nothing spectacular. The street corn was also decent, but not great. It was *very* charred. I didn't try any of the drinks, but those in our group agreed the margaritas weren't good. I'm not sure I'll be back. It's too bad, because it sounds like prior to the rebrand, this was a great place.
