I visited Rosalita's for a work lunch during the week with a group of about 10-12 people. They don't take reservations, so we got there a little early and were seated right away. It really, really takes a lot for me to give a 1-star review to any business but wow this was bad. The good was the decor both interior and exterior of this establishment and that's really it. So let's start with the table side guac. I'll give credit to the kid who made the guac. He tried to strike conversation and be friendly which was fine. He engaged with our 3 year old which was cute. While he was making the guac, the lime squeezer wasn't present. When he didn't have any cilantro on his cart. If your job is the to do table side Guac, wouldn't your cart be stacked and ready to go. Let's fast forward to our food orders - Burrito, Chicken Tortilla Soup, Fajitas and my son's Chicken Tacos. When the food arrived, my son's food was Ground Beef Tacos. The Chicken Tortilla soup was not brought out until we said something. I had corn tortillas with my fajitas and got Flour Tortillas. Then my wife never got her Mango Margarita. It finally arrived about 10 mins after her food was brought to the table. Icing on the cake, we had to go order of Chicken Tory soup and Fajitas. When we delivered the food to my friend's parents, no tortilla was present. The food was mediocre and for some reason my fajitas were sizzling, no joke for almost 5 minutes after it was delivered. Ordered the shrimp quesadilla with added mushrooms and spinach (their vegetarian quesadilla) except I got four shrimp and what appeared to be a can full of canned spinach that was so salty, it was saltier than the chips on the table and not a mushroom in sight. My quesadilla was also pretty dark and my coworkers quesadilla was even darker on the outside. Not burnt but more cooked than you expect on a tortilla. I ha e eaten lunch here before, but am not 100% convinced I will return. $20+ with food and soda for inedible food is just a waste. read more

First time at Rosalita's and I loved every minute of it. From the warm greeting at the door to the fresh guacamole being made right in front of me, the experience started strong and stayed that way. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, she was new and still learning the ropes, but her friendliness and effort made it a great experience. The live mariachi band was a beautiful touch, the vibes were on point, and the overall atmosphere made it absolutely worth the visit. Parking wasn't bad at all; I didn't notice valet, but since it was my first time, I can't say for sure. One thing I can say for sure: I'll be back. We thought we would sit out on the patio but we had been outside all day and decided to sit indoors - a first for both of us. We were extremely happy with our choices. The temperature was perfect and the chairs very comfortable. Our server was amazing - the epitome of service with a smile! Knowledgeable , fast, consistent service! Our food - fabulous! Cute place! Stopped in for dinner tonight and had a spicy marg (absolutely amazing), chicken quesadilla and the diablo? Fajitas. All were great! Chips were thin, crispy and fresh. Salsa was delicious. They were pretty dead on a Thursday around 7- 8pm. Portions were large and service was great. It's super dark in here- just as a heads up. A pretty solid place for big portions of Tex Mex food. Food: the food honestly wasn't bad. I got the sizzling fajita Tex mex plate and the meat tasted pretty good, and it came with a big side of rice and beans. The portions were big so it was essentially two meals. Service: great service. For a Saturday in December this place was busy but not hectic. I love the large ceilings- private booths and the heated outdoor patio. They decorated for the holidays and it felt fun! The music was a little loud, but we could still hold a conversation at the table. We had a new server training and to be honest- she was amazing and I would have never known she was new. Drinks, chips, salsa, queso and quac for a starter was amazing. THEN we were told we were switching servers, and sadly after we placed our orders, we didn't see our server much. Had to flag her down for refills, she didn't check in, the trainee must have followed a different server and ours could have used the help! We sat down and waited for a server for over 10 minutes. Someone came over and said they'd be with us shortly, they were not. Eventually another server helped us because the other server was "too busy". We placed our drink order and another 10 minutes go by without our drinks. We get our drinks finally, place our order and wait for a bit. Our order is delivered but we don't have silverware. I asked the man that brought our food out for silverware and he didn't bring it. Several times the same man walked past our table clearly avoiding eye contact with us. Another 5-10 minutes go by and our server comes to check on us and we ask for silverware again. She says she's sorry and brings us some after a few more minutes. I'm not one to normally complain but this entire experience was very frustrating and I have no plans of returning to this restaurant. read more

I have been to the Des Peres Rosalita's a number of times for drinks and dinner. I took a lady here for our first date the other night, it was just "meh". I started with a Mich Ultra bottle and she ordered a margarita. The margarita was as good as any other. She didn't hit one off the recommended list which is more expensive and includes a brand tequila as opposed to the house standard brand. She got a taco salad and said it was fine, just not what she had been in the mood for, I'll share that at the end. I was tossing options around in my head and went with fajitas. They were fairly good, while there was plenty of meat 3 or 4 pieces were so large I couldn't eat them without cutting them up. The peppers, beans, lettuce and all were fine. We didn't seem to get a visit very often from our server as I think we were being served by a waitress from the restaurant side and she just stopped by irregularly. Two things to close with. 1. Maharishi Band (sp?). Rosalita's has a wandering loud band band with brass that is really loud. Coming from a former trumpet player the music has to be pretty loud to offend me but this time it was a first date and we had to wait for the band to finish a song on the restaurant side just to quickly talk before another song started. I like the ambiance but there has to be another way to make that less intrusive. 2. We didn't plan on Mexican food, but the restaurant we went to first said it was a 40 minute wait and "mebbe more". So we just went west on Manchester as I knew Rosalita's was just a few minutes away. read more

We sat at the bar in cute half-circle booths facing the TV. Our server was attentive and quick with refills of drinks. The guacamole seemed to be the pre-made, packaged variety that gives off a fake taste. I would have preferred no guac instead. The housemade tortilla chips were salty and delicious, though quite greasy. Shrimp and Mango street tacos were excellent! Generous fresh toppings and large portions. The Matador featured a large steak that was cooked to order nicely, an enchilada on the side and an over easy egg. Everything was tasty, but like the chips, very greasy. The decor and patio furniture make you feel like you are at a Mexican resort. I chose a 20 oz Marg on the rocks. Yep. It was delicious and paired perfectly with chips and salsa and some guacamole. In my mind Rosalitas is a St. Louis classic. I prefer this location to the downtown one as I always seem to get better service. The ambience is really nice whether you sit inside or on the patio it's well decorated and makes you feel you're in colonial Mexico. The chips have to be my favorite in the St. Louis area (also sold at local grocery stores) perfect light and crispness. While you're there you will want to get the table side guacamole, always a delicious treat. They have a wide range of margaritas and menu items all of which I've found to be delicious. My favorite meal is the Cadillac fajitas which I usually share with my husband due to the big portion. They have a week night happy hour with some great deals on margaritas and apps. If you go at a busy time expect there to be a bit of a wait especially with a big party. read more

Rosalinas Cantina is a fairly good Mexican restaurant, I have been here a few times and each time I get the same meal which us the Pollo Cancun, it's grilled chicken breast and grilled shrimp over a bed of yellow rice and queso cheese on top, I do not eat seafood so I get mine minus the shrimp and add veggies. The meal is consistently good each time I go. The service has always been great I have zero complaints about the service no matter how busy it is my servers has always came to the table more than once to refill glasses and just to make sure we were doing alright. The ambiance, on the other hand, is what keeps me coming back. They have an outside patio that can be used all 4 seasons. It's heated in the colder months and has ample fans in the warmer months. They have fire places as well and TVs outside to watch as we. I'll have to say it's pretty expensive in my opinion but that hasn't kept me from coming back. read more

We went to Rosalita's for a work celebration in honor of the best business partner ever! We started off with the tamale and flautas appetizers. I guess we ate them so fast I'm not sure if I got pictures. The tamales were perfect and I enjoyed the sauces they were smothered in. I ordered the grouper with cilantro coconut rice and vegetables. The grouper was seasoned well and cooked just right. It's a delicate fish so it's easy to overdo it, but the chef was on point. I would totally order this dish again. We ordered a couple pitchers of margaritas because we were celebrating and really enjoy poisoning our livers. The margaritas here are not bitter tasting like at some restaurants. Needless to say we left feeling very happy! LOL! There's plenty of parking, the staff is very helpful and friendly. And I would recommend a visit asap! read more

Now I really enjoy sultry ambiance but the seating area we were put in was dark with little light. Just enough lighting to see your plate but this area needs to re evaluate. More lighting in the chandeliers at least, or open up the curtains . Server was friendly, food came out in a reasonable amount of time . Menu items were not as variety as I thought it could be. I would have liked more entree items of basic veggies. Drinks were not strong . I ordered shrimp quesadilla, more cheese than shrimp and tasted more like a grilled cheese sandwich. My drink selection was black cherry margarita . Others ordered sizzling fajita and although it came out sizzling it was just ok , hamburger burrito had all ingredients but just meh. Met some friends here for happy hour so my review is based only on that experience. I loved the ambiance of the bar area with lanterns suspended all around the bar plus the Christmas lights that were still up. Christina was our server and she was very friendly. Amazingly she got all of our bills sorted out correctly- we were a big group and we move around a lot. I had the white sangria which was good but not great.
