The enchilada sauce is that specific, authentic Arizona red sauce I've missed. Also, finding a properly executed crunchy taco in St. Louis is nearly impossible, but Salina's nails it. * Chicken Fajitas (4.25/5): These are excellently executed. The chicken was actually marinated and seasoned before hitting the grill, and the dish is naturally easy to navigate for those with dairy or carb concerns. * Cadillac Margaritas (4.25/5): We upgraded to Cabo Wabo tequila, and at two for under $20, it's arguably the best value in Chesterfield. Strong, fresh, and high-quality. Insider Tips (Ask for Patti!) If you want the true Arizona experience, you have to go "off-menu." Ask Patti for these specific items: 1. The Cheese Crisp: A classic Arizona-only appetizer. Get it with Hatch green chilis on top. 2. Chili Colorado Chimichanga: The Chili Colorado is excellent on its own, but asking for it inside a chimichanga is the ultimate pro move. The Verdict We don't go out for Mexican often, but Salina's is our exception. Great local place. We love their salsa. We get tacos and enchiladas and all is terrific.

Every time. Delicious food. I order the tacos with ground beef. The shells are crispy, puffy, and the taco is tasty and filling. Cheese enchiladas are great too. Service is always fast. My family has not had great luck in finding Mexican we enjoy. But decided to give Salina's a try and we were not sorry. To start chips are brought with salsa and bean dip and I love food bean dip and that is exactly what this was. We started with chicken fajita nachos which were simply amazing. All three people at the tables got either and enchilada meal or singular one from the alacarte menu. We were waited on by a great man who was very attentive to our needs and made sure that we were enjoying what we ordered. The restaurants is a bit small but definitely cozy with the great aroma of food wafting from the kitchen. Because of the size, I can see where on busier nights there may be we a wait. We moved to Chesterfield 23 years ago and we've been going to Salina's since then! It's our friendly "neighborhood" restaurant. Patti has worked there all of these years and she's not just a great server, she's a great person. She remembers everybody, what they drink, etc. They have a good sized menu. I like that they have a lunch menu with items I like, but are smaller portions. It's family friendly and there's outdoor seating. It's a popular spot and can fill up quickly. The service is great, the food is hot, and the margaritas are cold! I don't like refried beans, but the bean dip they serve with chips and salsa is so good! Even when it's crowded, it rarely seems too loud. It's one of our go-to places and I don't see that changing any time soon! read more

Where to go on St Patty's day when all the bar and grills are swamped... Mexican, Chinese, and sushi are the logical choices... Right? Lol We were staying at a hotel in Chesterfield and had looked up a BBQ joint, but didn't realize it was carry out only. Salinas Mexican was across the parking lot. Talk about dumb luck while traveling. This place aligns with some of out favorite Mexican places in the Des Moines IA metro. Fast service, laid back atmosphere, quick service, fresh and hot food! I will echo what one previous reviewer said... The salsa does have a tinge of marinara to it, but with queso and refried beans this is easily overlooked. If we're in the Chesterfield area again this is a place we'd hit again if the craving for Mexican food hit. read more

We were out shopping in the area so we stopped at this Mexican restaurant. Kind of hidden in the corner didn't see it at first. As always we judge the chips and salsa first. Pretty average but they give you refried beans with. Bonus. The wife had chicken flautas and I had a chicken enchilada burrito. Food was hot and fresh. Rice and beans were good not great. Overall food was good but average. Service was good very polite and attentive. The ambiance was the usually Mexican restaurant vibe. The service was great fast attentive and nice. The food was great. I love mexican food and can be rather picky. But this food was homemade. The chips and taco shells handmade. And so good the bean dip is rather addictive and ask for spicy salsa if you want something hotter than the mild. The food was so good and plentiful. You get a great deal for the money. The meat is seasoned but not hot. The enchiladas both cheese and beef were big stuffed and so good with plenty of red sauce and cheese. See the pictures. Well, darn. Would have liked for this place to have been good, but this place is not even close in experience/taste to the dozens of other Mexican restaurants within a 5-mile radius. I noticed the one theme that runs thru positive reviews for this place is that it's convenient. Folks, drive 5 more minutes and you find so much better. As so many before mentioned, the service is a little slow. I think at this point, everyone gets a pass with the current staffing shortages. But when I asked which kind of bean I should get and the server says "I don't like beans so I don't know", I want to tear out what's left of the hair on my 52 year-old head. Chicken in the burrito was flavorful, but most are. The bottle of Modelo, just like my ex-wife, was cold. Nothing to see here folks..move on. PS...the bathrooms stink. read more

I've never in my life had salsa that tastes like pizza sauce until I went here. It tastes like tomato paste with italian seasonings and lots of oregano. It was bizarre and it was not edible. We actually asked if it was the right thing because we were so shocked. They have great chips, queso and nachos. The 2 stars are for those things. The service was some of worst i've ever had, the waitress or hostess that works there needs customer service training, she was beyond rude and seemed miserable to be there. The last thing is the prices. Almost $20 for nachos is completely out of control, they need to rethink their prices. Unfortunately we won't be back. read more

I don't generally update my reviews but here I am. I'm raising Salina's from a 3 to a 4. I had dinner here on a cold Thursday night and ordered the Siete combo. It was one tamale, one enchilada, one taco, and black beans and rice. I thought the tamale wasn't the best but I really liked everything else on the plate especially the enchilada sauce. It had a nice mild heat and tomato flavor. Service was a bit better than my last visit. I'm sure I'll be back when the craving for basic strip mall Gringo Mexican returns. read more

We love this neighborhood spot. Friendliest, warmest service from the loveliest lady who remembers all of our orders and has mini packets of M&M's for our boys every time. Convenient and close to home for a quick dinner when I'm not in the mood for cooking. We were the only customers and I felt like an early bird diner,but I didn't mind the solitude because it was a nice change of pace. I ordered the enchilada plate with 3 enchiladas, cheese, beef and chicken covered with mole sauce and cheese and served with rice and beans. My favorite was the cheese enchilada with lost of hot gooey cheese and sauce. I think next time I'll go back to the red sauce because I like the flavor better. We went for dinner tonight and were disappointed by the extremely slow service and indifferent attitude from our waitress, we arrived at 6:40 pm and sat in the bar area and about 10 minutes later our waitress came and took our order and promptly brought our drinks, 40 minutes later we still hadn't got our food and they kept saying it sho be right up, which I found odd since there were only 4 other table of patrons in there. Food finally came and mine was cold when I told waitress she said " I find that hard to believe because the plate is warm " I had pork tacos and husband had the tilapia which was over cooked and a bit dry, was to have steamed vegetables but got beans instead . Honestly not my favorite. Keep in mind mexican is my favorite type of food. I couldn't eat the chips- they seemed like the cheapest store bought kind and were stale. Rice was so dry and refried beans almost inedible. Salsa was basically tomato paste. Literally no flavor. I just ate my own salsa I bought from the store because it was better. I got the fajita style chicken quesadilla. That was good. Nothing special though. It was straight up just chicken, cheese, and a tortilla. I hate to say this but I could've just made my own of everything & would've liked it more.. My roommate was even surprised how expensive this place was considering their poor quality as well. Maybe it was a fluke incident or a weird day for them, but I won't be going back. read more

I'm so glad I found this place!!! As an Arizona native for 30 years it's been impossible to find a great Mexican food spot in STL the last 4 years I've lived here. After a recommendation from a friend I tried it out and knew this place was going to be great after I asked for a cheese crisp ( not on the menu) and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Any other Mexican food joint in STL I would get the deer in the headlight look and they would think I wanted a quesadilla. The salsa and tamales are made in house and are to die for! Today I had the shredded beef chimichanga and it was awesome! I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a complexly New STL Mexican food experience. read more

I mean, it's not anything really delicious or memorable...but it totally fills the spot, is usually fairly empty so you don't have to wait in line forever for a table, it's reasonably priced and won't make you sick like so many mystery Mexican restaurants have a tendency to do. However....it's not anything great. It's totally standard. The menu is standard, the food is standard, the service is standard, the margaritas are standard....nothing here is memorable. I suppose that's not a bad thing, but it does not ring any real "you have to try it" bells for me. I mean, if you are in the area, and you are craving fajitas...by all means, go...eat there...you will be satisfied by what you find. However, if you are thinking about driving here just to try it out, I'd say look closer. There's plenty of mediocre Mexican in this city....you can be just as satisfied elsewhere. read more

This was my second time here while visiting family. We're all from Los Angeles where Mexican restaurants are plenty. When my friends moved here, they couldn't find one decent one until they came across this gem of a place. Closest to being home as they come. I went to the restaurant and the waitress said they had no seats although there were four bar chairs and three tables in the bar area plus two empty tables in the side restaurant. This made me feel like my business of one person wasn't wanted. A couple came in and took a table right away without assistance and no one approached them and told them there was no room. We have been looking for a new mexican restaurant and I think we found a new favorite. I've read a few reviews and was intrigued so on Christmas Eve we found our way to Salina's. Great service from the hostess and our server. Chips with salsa and bean dip were awesome, both fresh and great tasting. My wife and I both had lunch specials. The Burrito Grande was great tasting with ground beef. It also came with refried beans and rice. I had a cheese enchilada with a ground beef hard taco along with refried beans and rice.
