6/21/26 - I have been coming to El Mayita for some years now, but today was the first time I just walked up and ordered!!! I know it's Father's Day but business was super slow for them. I ordered two asada tacos & one chorizo with everything. My dinner was delicious as usual!!! The prices have gone up just like everywhere else but that isn't going to stop me from eating from my favorite taco truck. I remember when I first started coming here the tacos were $2.00 and the burritos were around $8.00-10.00. Now, they haven't put the new prices up yet but my chorizo taco was $3.50. I hate to say it, but this truck has really gone downhill. They used to be my absolute favorite -- I would drive 45 minutes during COVID just to eat here. Every time I came to Stockton, I made sure to stop by for an al pastor and shrimp burrito because they were always so good and FAT. Today I drove from Lodi and left extremely disappointed. The cashier didn't charge me for my horchata, and the cook also missed a taco from my order. When I pointed it out, instead of acknowledging the mistake, he said, "She didn't charge you," even though she did -- I showed him the receipt. He then claimed it was the tax and tried to play it off like he was doing me a favor by giving me a taco "for free." Except... I paid for it. When I finally got my food, I took a bite of my burrito and found beans in it -- even though I specifically asked for no beans. On top of that, the burrito was noticeably smaller than what they used to serve. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Sadly, I won't be making the drive anymore. read more

Solid, solid food truck. Located in the plaza of the 86 gas station, El Mayita serves delicious food for a decent price. Their super burrito is definitely big, can be shared with two people haha. I recommend the carne asada for a well rounded choice. The el pastor is amazing if you love the spice. Recommend getting the horchata here and their el mayita sauce. Its a tangy, green sauce that adds an amazing kick for your meal. The horchata is not too cinnamon-y and is the best roadtrip drink. They take cash only! We arrived around 8:30 and it was like a small block party, the parking lot was full and groups of families and friends were eating off their trunks or tailgates. Came all the way to Stockton for this truck specifically! Their shrimp burritos seemed to be well known, but had to go for the al pastor burrito with cheese. I loved how they grilled the tortilla and my only complaint was too much meat! Not something you'd hear from a taco truck often! They also made my order perfectly, no beans, sour cream, and cilantro! Four stars mainly for their taste in food and preparation. Could have possibly been a five star if the young lady the window was more customer oriented. We stood waiting at the window to order. El Mayita and the food truck next to it that sells Queso tacos (Birrialandia) are my favorite taco trucks in Stockton whenever I visit family there. It's always a great vibe being there and the workers taking your order always provide good customer service. If I ever want regular tacos El Mayita is the best option as they have more variety in meat. I love the quesdaillas and mulitas from both trucks also. The sauce they put in them are spicy though, but you can ask them to not include it if that's too much for you. The queso tacos from the other truck is sometimes inconsistent when it comes to the amount of cheese they give you though. I also always recommend their horchata as well. read more

My partner and I aren't happy to be writing this review. We generally enjoy coming to get takeout here, but while my partner was eating his pastor fries he spit out a piece of metal while in mid-bite. It is sharp on one end but thankfully there was no damage to his mouth. I tried to find a phone number to call and let them know about what had happened (since were home) but I could only find the number on the Yelp page in the pictures tab. Trying that number i was able to get into contact with someone but they hung up on me, probably was the incorrect number? But either way, we just want to let others know about this. I'd feel horrible if this had happened to like a child or had been swallowed! If you enjoy the authenticity of hard workers believing in sharing their food, I recommend street food. And as for street food, many are found on food trucks. This is a large food truck where I counted three cooks. I ordered three carne asada tacos with everything on it. Everything on it was cilantro, onion, and their hot sauce over the beef in two tortillas. Also included were caramelized onions and grilled pepper on the side. The sauce has a unique taste which appeared to have a slight hint of barbecue sauce. The food was delicious. The truck is parked at a gas station with unmarked parking space. So some had a hard time getting out due to double parking. I didn't get the elegance of fine dining, but I did get the fast street taco atmosphere. It used to be good with great value ~5 years ago. I even referred my friends to go there. I agree with those reviews about the poor customer service and price gauging. Here are the facts: After Covid, taking advantage of inflation situation, price gauging like hell. For example, how do you justified taco price from $1.50 to $2.50. This is ~70% increase. Is our inflation rate at 70% ? Of course not. They are charging restaurant prices (some items even higher) without restaurant expenses and ambient. In addition, short change us on all the condiments, sauces...etc. Have you look at the sauce package. It is very tiny, less than one tea spoon. Before was much more. Food taste about the same as before. More varieties but much less value per price now. Charging us the tax now but we have to pay cash only. Give me a break. I don't believe they report everything to the IRS for their cash transactions. Also, food trucks have no water supply hookup. Think about how do they clean the food and their hands before giving to you. Last but not least, horrible rude customer service. The cashier. So unhelpful, unfriendly and just pure rude. I would never re-visit this place and don't recommend anyone do. They are many better other choices out there. We should boycott this place until they get their acts right or just close down. What a little gem in Stockton. We were on the way home from Tahoe and a friend of ours HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this truck. A gas station taco truck? I guess.. We were not disappointed. We visited the truck on March Lane this past weekend. When I tell you this place was busy, I felt like we were pulling in to a movie premiere with the amount of traffic pulling in. They are stationed next to a 76 gas station and parking can be limited due to the popularity of this truck. I got a bit flustered initially with the parking situation but eventually found a spot and figured since its so busy, it must be good. I was RIGHT! The lady taking our order was very pleasant and paid special attention to the details of our order. We ordered a bunch of tacos, carnitas, asada, pastor, chicken, fish and a quesadilla. Two horchatas and two jamaicas. Our order was called and the young guy expediting our order was super friendly and I felt provided great customer service to everyone, even with special requests he complied without flinching. Our order was up and when I tell you I squealed when I opened my box, I literally squealed! I had 3 carnitas tacos and they were loaded with crispy, flavorful carnitas as well as onions, cilatro and salsa. The side condiments were lime, a grilled serano chile, radishes, and beautifully grilled onions. We asked for extra salsa and while the salsa on the tacos was flavorful, it wasn't too spicy, so I drizzled the extra salsa over my tacos. This salsa needs to be bottled and sold for home consumption! It was sooo good! These were very authentic and everything about these tacos told me, we need to come back again and again! Its a 30 min drive from us but I was sold! The ratings for the other tacos were a little scattered. The fish taco could have been skipped. Hubby said it was just ok. Daughter said the quesadilla could have used more cheese. It did look a little dry. The jamaica tasted refreshing and the horchata for me was next level! Loved the horchata! I ordered a burrito de carnitas. The flavor and spice of it was yummy. In fact I normally love adding more salsa to my burrito but this burrito didn't need that. I could eat it just like how it was served. However, what I did not like about the carnitas was that they gave me mostly buche I think. I hate buche. I have a texture problem where I don't like squishy meat and that is how it tasted. I had to open my burrito and take out all those pieces which were a lot. The horchata was okay. After recently moving to Stockton was told this is 'the place' for tacos. Straggling near the 76 gas station off of March lane next to the 5 freeway, I thought I'd give them a try. They have fair prices, the top being their super burrito at around $10. Taco and meat quality was good, only downfall was they overwhelm their quality with their mayita sauce (spicy).
