El Patio, located in Rockville is a family owned restaurant that serves traditional home-style meals from Argentina in a casual dining atmosphere. With their authentic Argentinian recopies, it gives diners a piece of Argentina in Rockville. One of the selling points for this restaurant is that it is a combination style restaurant( bakery, restaurant and packaged goods from Argentina. They have a wonderful selection of Argentinian wines. On Wednesday they have offer specials on bottles of wine for dining in and purchase. The food was absolutely delicious, we tried a variety of things. We started with the baked empanadas( chicken and beef). They were filling actually, nice and full of meat and flavorful. We also tried the Argentinean sausage sandwich. The sandwich came on this nice toasted bread. For dinner I had the Tira de Asado a la Parrilla( grilled beef short ribs). All the platters come with two sides. I got a salad and their french fries. OMG they have they best fries. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I didnt even use ketchup, that is how tasty they were. The rich orange broth was brimming with large chunks of glistening honeycomb tripe. It was rich with Umami suggesting hours of boiling down pigs feet and knuckle bones. It had a tomato background, but also tasted of pumpkin, and even roasted pumpkinseeds. There was a hint of masa harina reminiscent of tamales. I couldn't identify the other flavors, maybe star anise or allspice. There were big chunks of yuccaa, and plantain slices skin and all.
