This place is delicious! I've never been to Shafter before but I'm so glad i found this place on my way to San Jose. The restaurant is easy to find, plenty of space to sit and the staff is very friendly and attentive! The horchata is very tasty and not too sweet & it comes in a mason jar!! Never seen that before. The salsa and chips were excellent & i ordered the shrimp enchiladas (never had them before) and I'm happy with my choice. Me and my husband were recommended by a friend to try this restaurant. We absolutely loved the guacamole and micheladas. My husband tried the trio fajitas and liked the meats (chicken, Asada, and shrimp) but he did not like the rice and beans at all. I had tried the chile Del Mar (not sure if spelling is correct) and I was pleased it had a stuffed Chile with veggies and shrimp over the top and rice and beans. The prices are more on the expensive side we ordered those two dishes , two micheladas, guacamole and chips, and two soft drinks and the total without tip came out to a little over $70. I was in the area for work and stopped by here for lunch. I had two carne asada crunchy tacos. They were good, but nothing crazy that I would rave about. They gave complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious. It had great flavor and a good spice kick. The service was great too. It was very attentive and more chips and salsa were available upon request, which was really nice. I usually get chile rellenos because they are the best around. The chiles are large, well stuffed with cheese and battered in a light egg batter then coated with a well flavored but not overpowering sauce. The shrimp enchiladas are scrumptious. Driving home late on a rainy and foggy night, we had never stopped on this road between Highway 99 and I-5 before. We got hungry along the way, checked Yelp for Mexican food and found our way to El Michoacano. New town, new restaurant - ya never know what it might be like. It was GREAT! There were several other tables in use but we were seated immediately, given chips and water a moment later and our orders were taken soon thereafter. My wife and I had chips, salsa, tacos, enchiladas, huevos rancheros and salads and everything was great. The price was right, the servings were the right size and we felt that we got a great deal. The staff was friendly and attentive and was frequently checking on us to be sure we had what we wanted and it was an overall outstanding visit. We wished that all our dining experiences were like this one and we will go out of our way in the future to stop here. I wish we lived a lot closer. read more
