Great lunch spot! My friends and I were in town for a bachelorette party and needed to fuel up before a full day of wine tasting. We did walk in with a party of 11, expecting a long wait since it was a Saturday afternoon but they were able to seat us within just a few minutes. The vibe of the restaurant is modern and lively. I like that the tables are spaced out enough so it didn't feel cramped. One thing I appreciated was how accommodating the restaurant was for different dietary preferences. Our group included meat eaters, pescatarians, and vegetarians, and there was something for everyone. I ordered the grilled fish tacos with Spanish rice and refried beans. Since I'm allergic to shrimp, I let our server know, and he immediately made a note for the kitchen. I really appreciated the extra attention to food allergies. I liked that the fish was grilled instead of fried so the tacvos didn't feel heavy. It came topped with pico de gallo, shredded green and purple cabbage, cotija cheese and on the side they gave me pickled red onions and two lime wedges (dried out yikes!). The fish was perfectly cooked. It was flaky, buttery, and tender. I wouldn't change a thing about it. My only critique is that the tacos were dry overall. It needed a creamy sauce or even replace the shredded cabbage with a slaw. The Spanish rice was simple but still had good flavor. The refried beans were creamy, smooth, and topped with shredded white cheese. One helpful tip for anyone with dietary restrictions: the menu does NOT specify ingredients for some of the sides. We noticed the vegetarian plate came with whole beans instead of the refried beans served with the non-vegetarian dishes. Based on what was served, we deduced that the refried beans likely contain lard, even though it's not listed on the menu. That could be confusing for pescatarians or anyone ordering seafood who assumes the sides are meat-free. If you dine here and have dietary restrictions or food allergies, definitely clarify with your server about ingredients. read more

10/10 experience! We drove past El Milagro when we in the area and I thought the restaurant was cute from the outside. I looked it up on trusty Yelp and saw it was basically 5 stars. First try here, I was craving tacos after a long hike so we made the trek up from Point Reyes, lol. I'm glad we did because the food was delicious! Chips are fresh, hot and the salsas are fabulous! A roasted pepper salsa that reminds me of my old favorite salsa from Sonoma Taco Shop (IYKYK). They also brought a spicy salsa, most likely habanero, great flavor with some serious kick. I attempted to order my usual, al pastor crispy tacos after and a carne asada taco. They were out of Al pastor (craziness), so I swapped it for shrimp instead. I only ate my carne asada "taco" and the other goodies. The chips are thin, crispy, and fresh and everything I want chips to be at a Mexican restaurant. I also saw they do a special shrimp taco with potato filling sometimes, it was not on special today, so alas I just follow and come back when it is happening because I want that taco! lol I'm really sad I couldn't try the al pastor, it's my minimus test at a New Mexican spot so again another time. I probably won't order "crispy tacos" again there since they came out more like tostadas than a taco. Still delicious, but not a taco. read more

I heard great things from my Cloverdale clients about them so I finally tried it, yesterday. I had the Tortitas En Pollo with Salsa Verde and it was outstanding and I loved the new taste of Mexican stews!!! The tortillas tasted like they were homemade and were so fresh! I loved the savory salsa with the chips! The chicken breasts were cooked to perfection and the sauce was so delicious! I was very disappointed with the food I ordered. I ordered the fajitas, but they came with only two shrimp and about a 5-inch piece of chicken breast. The portion was extremely small for the price. Checked this place out during the busy Saturday lunch because of high reviews and no wait, as well as having some outside tables. Service started off fast and attentive, but as we finished our meal our waiter was no where to be seen do a long time. I had to go inside to get a to-go box, and ask for the check after waiting for a long time, to see the only waiter eating at a booth when several tables were needing service. They should be able to eat and take a break, but have adequate staff to cover if you are asking for that large of a tip as well as the overpriced and over cooked food. It's tucked just behind Williamson Wines on Matheson, between Healdsburg Ave and Vine St. We arrived early on a Monday night and secured a table for two inside, without a reservation. But a few of the tables filled up...on a Monday!...so I definitely recommend making a reservation. I think they have around 40-45 seats. It's dimly lit and cozy feeling inside. Glad to see they're doing so well and people are finding them. We enjoyed the food and friendly service. They started us with chips and salsa - thin and salty chips, just the way I like them. My guy liked them so much that he ordered the nachos, which came loaded with goodness and meat. I ordered the tacos with shredded chicken - two tacos, each with a double tortilla, and a side of rice and beans. Everything was solid. We don't eat Mexican food often these days, but we'll return the next time we have a craving. The service is always great, the food is amazing, and they have a lovely atmosphere that I love. I highly recommend the Enchiladas Chilangas when they're the daily special. They post the daily specials on their instagram page, so you can take a look before you go because it's different every day. The moles are all made in house too, which gives them that extra boost of delicious flavor. Lastly, they are now offering brunch from 8am-12pm, and they have a lot of great options to try. Today I tried the Huevos Rancheros and Huevos Rotos. They were both so delicious. The Huevos Rancheros had salsa and eggs on top of two fried tortillas, topped with avocado, and came with black beans on the side. The Huevos Rotos came with diced peppers, ham, and potatoes on a bed of mole all topped with eggs and avocado. It reminded me of the breakfasts my dad would make us when we were kids. This is a fantastic family-owned restaurant with a wide variety of different Mexican flavors from so many regions. It's definitely worth a try. read more

What a fantastic addition to Downtown Healdsburg! There is unquestionably no shortage of excellent food in the area, but there is a real shortage of restaurants you can just stroll into without turning over your entire wallet. El Milagro is not *cheap*, but it's very approachable with food that blows not only every other Mexican spot out of the water, but a lot of the fancier spots on and around the plaza as well, tbh. In fact, it was so good, my husband and I went twice in the span of one week, bringing family in town with us the second time. From the delicious chips and salsa, to the guacamole (served with a different chip that really deserves its own review)...the really great, fresh margaritas...and OMG the flautas plate. I tried not to order it twice in a row but couldn't help myself. That said, the tacos my son ordered - a mixture of chicken, carnitas and steak - looked insane and he verified that assessment with an empty plate at the end of the meal. Rave reviews of the e ceviche, fajitas and bowl were also shared. First time here and it did not disappoint. Now located right on the main street of downtown Healdsburg (Healdsburg Ave). We walked in about 5:30 on a Friday night and were able to get a table without reservations. Many folks were walking downtown, would stop and read the menu, then came in for dinner. It's an upscale Mexican restaurant using local ingredients that are authentic to their dishes. The staff was very friendly and checked on us often. Service started with warm tortilla chips and salsa. The margaritas were delicious- note they are low proof to comply with their wine/ beer liqueur license. We ordered the enchiladas tres moles ( beef with peanut mole, chicken with red mole and pork with verde mole) and the two seafood tacos ( 1 shrimp & 1 grilled fish) topped with aioli, cabbage, queso fresco (skipped the pico). My favorite enchilada was the verde one - the sauce was a little spicy. My daughter's favorite taco was the grilled fish. We weren't even hungry but ordered the churros and took them home. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. I look forward to coming back and trying something else on their menu! read more

Everything was amazing! Stopped in on a were Sunday morning for some chicken tortilla soup. The soup was absolutely incredible and warmed our souls. I got a michelada to kick off the morning. The michelada was spicy and perfect to kick start a day of drinking(wine tasting). We also got the shrimp appetizer which was also extremely good. They have a location in Cloverdale and after success there, they recently expanded and opened up a Healdsburg location. The atmosphere is welcoming and everyone that works there is very friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Been wanting to try this place for a while. The inside is nicely appointed and it feels pretty bougie for a Mexican joint. It seemed like most of the people eating there were locals which is kind of refreshing for healdsburg. The service was prompt enough and friendly. The menu is rather large so you have a lot of things to choose from. It has everything from your classics like tacos and sizzling fajitas to an impressive selection of moles. I initially went in wanting the mole but I had a late lunch and wasn't hungry enough so I got the tacos instead. I ordered an Al pastor and a carne asada. Both were well cooked and well marinated. I liked the cheese in between the two tortillas. I would have preferred if the outer tortilla was a bit crispier and I was missing the pineapple in my Al pastor. The chips and salsa were very good but the second batch of chips we got were a bit underdone. Overall, I felt like $22 was a bit pricey for two tacos but rice and beans are included and the meal was filling so it's still cheaper than most dinners these days especially in this town.
