You know it's legit when there's a boot brand on the table, also the hot sauce

More from a foody lemosine driver. If I ever was stranded in Mexico, and had nothing but Mexican food for months I would love it! Always searching exploring new places to eat while my clients are at dinner or wine tasting, tonight they are at Single Tread In Healdsburg, 4 hours of foraging around. This place was in an older shopping center in downtown Healdsburg (hole in the wall' only a little English spoken here, I liked the booths and older Mexican decor and artwork, plus the Mexican music, feeling like I'm in Mexico except the fish tacos were talipia or maybe catfish' they just had that fresh water pond flavor. I am spoiled I visit Mexico each year (Baja sir) fresh fresh seafood tocos there! But the shrimp toco was great lots of shrimp! The service was very friendly and I love the real Mexican atmosphere. I will check out some of the other Taqueria's In Healdsburg before I come back to this one just to compare.

This is where the locals eat! Great service and food! I only had the grilled chicken soft tacos (two days in a row); however, on both visits I saw men enjoying the Caldo 7 Mares (7 variety seafood soup). It looked amazing, the portion was generous, and they all took some home! Check this place out!

Delicious and affordable tacos in Healdsburg! The "super taco" was a ridiculous amount of food snd more like an open faced quesadilla. I hate the carne asasa, Pollo azado and chorizo tacos. The carne asada was the winner but there were no losers!

    Burrito Loco

Absolutely delicious!! So friendly and authentic! Best Mexican I've had in wine country! Burrito Loco!

It's good. Not amazing but good. Would come back. Super burrito was $13 and good sized. Good flavor. Little better than I expected considering it's healdsburg. Staff was nice.

On our way to an anniversary weekend up in Mendocino, Jamie W. and I stopped in the charming hamlet of Healdsburg to get a bite since the drive has a relatively barren stretch of dining options until you get to the coast. Instead of waiting in line at one of the popular places on the plaza, we found ourselves strolling over to that same strip mall where Flakey Cream Do-nuts is, but we ended up here for a budget-priced Mexican breakfast. We were hoping to find a nugget here, but it wasn't really all that special despite the reasonable prices. Jamie ordered the $8.99 Vegetarian Plate, which probably represented the best value on the menu. It was a robust platter consisting of whole beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, steamed vegetables, and tortillas (photo: http://bit.ly/1VXeApz). Good square meal if lacking in some seasoning. I ordered a $4.50 Fish Taco, which was the best part of my meal since they had a good-size pair of fillets nestled on the tortilla with cilantro, lettuce, onions and salsa (photo: http://bit.ly/1VelBSc). The absolute disappointment, however, was the $10.99 bowl of the weekend-only Menudo. The broth was thin and almost soapy in flavor for some reason, while the tripe was chopped into smithereens and the bones were non-existent (photo: http://bit.ly/1MYwxg4). Desultory menudo was no way for me to start an idyllic weekend, but I tried to make up for it with some Cliff bars in the car since I didn't want to make too many unnecessary restroom stops. TMI? Sorry. Anyhow, I'm afraid there wasn't much that was memorable about our stop at El Taco Grande, but maybe if I stuck with something more predictably fool-proof like a Burrito Loco, I would have been fine. FOOD - 3 stars...middling Mexican with a mediocre menudo AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...lots of formica, not much character SERVICE - 3 stars...serviceable, nothing more TOTAL - 3 stars...plenty of other places to try in Healdsburg

We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful day, a few flies, but nothing too aggressive. Our waitress was bubbly, engaging and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a variety of items for lunch. To begin our experience, we tried a mole sampler with chips and salsa. The Molly tasted rich and authentic. Then.. we tried the shredded chicken nachos...a classic delicious favorite. The Carne Asada tostada was super delicious, had just a little too much lettuce. And the Las poblanas was a wonderfully amazing mix of grilled chicken, carne Asada, prawns... and mushrooms... with both corn and flour tortillas. Soooo good. To top off our experience, we ordered their delicious caramel cream filled churros, topped with strawberry glaze, a spicy cucumber margarita and classic spicy lime margarita on the rocks! They were mixed so well and balanced perfectly. I love a delicious margarita! I would recommend this place 10 times over!!! I'm not in the area much but when I come back, I will definitely eat here again!

The service was good overall, but the biggest disappointment was the food. Three of us ordered the Coastal Fish Bowl, a dish our friend had always enjoyed during his previous visits. While the combination of vegetables, black beans, and cheese had pleasant flavors, the fish was the main issue. The menu describes the dish as featuring sea bass, but the fish served was actually swai (also known as basa), a much less expensive farm-raised freshwater fish. I am very familiar with swai and could immediately recognize that it was not the fish described on the menu. Additionally, the menu stated that the fish was grilled, but it was actually lightly battered and deep-fried. The description also mentioned that the dish came with tortillas, but none were provided. Overall, the menu description was significantly misleading and did not accurately represent what was served. While our experience was not ruined by the service, it was only adequate and did not make up for the disappointment with the food. A restaurant's menu should accurately reflect the ingredients and preparation methods so guests can have the experience they are expecting.

I chose to eat here on a whim because it's one of the few places open past 8pm. We had no issue with getting seated quickly and we sat outside because we had our dog with us. They were kind enough to give our dog a water bowl as well. Complimentary chips and salsa to start the meal off. The salsa tasted great and not too spicy at all. I ordered the Al pastor super burrito. The burrito was hefty and filled with delicious meat and other ingredients. The burrito was only $16 which was a great deal. My fiance ordered the quesabirria tacos and while I didn't try any, he said they were delicious and he would order them again. I definitely recommend stopping by this place for a delicious meal that won't break the bank.

We did walk in with a party of 11, expecting a long wait since it was a Saturday afternoon but they were able to seat us within just a few minutes. The vibe of the restaurant is modern and lively. I like that the tables are spaced out enough so it didn't feel cramped. One thing I appreciated was how accommodating the restaurant was for different dietary preferences. Our group included meat eaters, pescatarians, and vegetarians, and there was something for everyone. I ordered the grilled fish tacos with Spanish rice and refried beans. Since I'm allergic to shrimp, I let our server know, and he immediately made a note for the kitchen. I really appreciated the extra attention to food allergies. I liked that the fish was grilled instead of fried so the tacvos didn't feel heavy. It came topped with pico de gallo, shredded green and purple cabbage, cotija cheese and on the side they gave me pickled red onions and two lime wedges (dried out yikes!). The fish was perfectly cooked. It was flaky, buttery, and tender. I wouldn't change a thing about it. My only critique is that the tacos were dry overall. It needed a creamy sauce or even replace the shredded cabbage with a slaw. The Spanish rice was simple but still had good flavor. The refried beans were creamy, smooth, and topped with shredded white cheese. One helpful tip for anyone with dietary restrictions: the menu does NOT specify ingredients for some of the sides. We noticed the vegetarian plate came with whole beans instead of the refried beans served with the non-vegetarian dishes. Based on what was served, we deduced that the refried beans likely contain lard, even though it's not listed on the menu. That could be confusing for pescatarians or anyone ordering seafood who assumes the sides are meat-free. If you dine here and have dietary restrictions or food allergies, definitely clarify with your server about ingredients.

The menudo was excellent, they don't skimp on the tripe and it tasted great, especially with the chili oil at end of the buffet. The Birria was also very good and I had to try the nopales con huevos which was okay. I wish I could have the tortillas that are made in site, my wife loved them enough to wrap a few up to take home.
