My party of 5 (remember that show?) was quite impressed with El Molcajete. We went on a Thursday night around 7:30. It was my son's pick. It's located in a strip mall with ample parking available. Inside is clean and vibrant with riveting murals covering the walls. Our server was hardworking and devoted, efficiently taking our order and delivering items in a timely manner. We had various margaritas, which weren't noticeably strong, yet nicely balanced. The spicy one packed a fiery punch. The menu is vast with a plethora of options. I settled on the Alambre which was full of flavor, delivered steaming and had a very generous portion (not skimping on the meat). Due to filling up on chips, I took most of it home and enjoyed it for multiple days afterward. This family-owned restaurant did a better job than some other bigger Mexican chains I've recently visited. They delivered on all fronts, creating an authentic Mexican cuisine experience. Luckily this restaurant was a 5 minute walk from our airbnb before we headed to our cruise, as the food here was melt in your mouth delicious! My stomach didn't like me afterwards but it was worth it. We came on a Saturday for dinner and were seated right away. The restaurant has a laid back atmosphere and our waitress was super sweet. My son had the enchiladas and I had the shrimp quesadilla. He ate his quick with little to take back, same as me. We could've eaten it all but we overloaded on the chips, queso and salsa. I had such a great experience at El Molcajete Vista Lakes! My best friend and I stopped by for happy hour yesterday (3-7 PM), and it did not disappoint. They offer $3-$5 off select drinks and meals, which is a great deal. Our waitress, Stephanie, was incredibly kind and sweet--she really made our visit even more enjoyable. We started with a passion fruit margarita and a passion fruit mojito, and both were delicious and refreshing. For food, I had the quesabirria with ramen (so flavorful and unique!), and my friend ordered the chicken fajitas, which were just as amazing. This is our first time dining at El Molcajete Mexican Restaurant. It's in a little strip mall on Lee Vista. There are beautiful wall murals and plenty of indoor seating. They offer cocktails and beer. The menu has many choices. My husband had the steak burrito and I had the birria tacos. Both were delicious. Our server was Karen and she was so efficient and friendly. She was the only person we saw working the floor as she made the bar drinks, served the patrons, ran the cash register and handle the take out orders. She never got flustered or lost the smile on her face. She had excellent customer service under very busy circumstances. We will definitely return to try more delicious food. read more

We went here for a last minute dinner while running errands. It had good reviews so we figured why not! The restaurant was clean and cute. Our server was attentive and sweet. We started out on a bad foot when our salsa had a large black hair in it right on top. She quickly apologized and got us a new one. The food was average at best. My boyfriend had a burrito and I had chicken flautas which tasted like canned chicken. Not sure that we would go back. There are far better restaurants in Orlando. read more

I love Mexican food!! And I love that El Molcajete is just down the street from my house. I usually have to venture out to get Mexican food not even realizing that there's a really good one in my neighborhood. Took us a while to try it out but glad we finally did. There were only a few cars out in the parking lot when we came in on a Friday afternoon so I was a bit skeptical at first. I kept asking myself, "is it good? Is it not good?" But as soon as we sat down, I was happy that it wasn't crowded like most restaurants are. There were a few other diners there. We got our waitress full attention and she was super nice too. We looked at the menu and noticed that happy hour is everyday from 3-6pm. We ordered a few house margaritas. I had my rim with tajin. Very tasty and quite strong too. Not bad for $8. Although I should have just stuck with 1 margarita because I was a bit tipsy after that first one. The food was good too. We started with chips and queso dip. Our waitress asked if we wanted our queso thick and creamy or smooth and runny. Didn't know we had a choice. We went with the smooth and runny texture because why not? And then we shared the steak fajita and deep fried ice cream for dessert. I highly recommend anyone that loves Mexican food to give el molcajete a try. The food is delicious, happy hour is everyday including the weekends, they've got daily specials, staff are really friendly, it's not crowded and there's plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the a taco salad, which came out quickly, was unfortunately both bland AND not good. If you want a different Mexican food option than your typical place, come to El Molcajete. Their menu has a lot of items that you don't typically see in a generic strip mall joint. The service is quick and friendly. The food is solid, although I will say... for my taste... I avoid their fried items. My experience, including the standard tortilla chips, has been they seem over-fried to my tastes. The place is bright and fun. I haven't been yet when it's been very crowded, but they have a lot of tables and a nice bar up front. The flavors are on point and like I said, they don't have the typical menu, so you can really experience some excellent for options. Give them a try!! read more

Wanted to try something new this week and even though this place is close and isn't super new to the area it was new to us! So glad we went. Our server was new and she apologized repeatedly for missing an item in our order, it's totally fair, everyone has to learn and honestly she apologized more than necessary we weren't stressed. First time trying their chicken soup and it was delicious and perfect for a cold day. Their tacos are also always good and ask for the Verde sauce (green salsa. We were in a mood for some hot and spicy Mexican food and found this on yelp. Ordered corn on cob and a cheese dip for appetizer. Chips that came with the dip were flour chips not corn chips. Salsa was ok i asked for hot sauce but it was only mildly spicy. Corn was good. We ordered some enchiladas asked the waitress if the food was piping hot, she said all their dishes come out piping hot but the enchiladas were just warm. This is a Happy Hour stop for me. I haven't been here in a few months. I appreciate the prompt sitting. Fun music is always playing. There are a couple of TVs playing sports. Service is great, waitresses are very polite and attentive. They brought out chips and salsa to the table. I had the steak street tacos without onions and a house margarita on the rocks with salt. I asked for the green salsa for the tacos. I usually don't have high expectations for happy hour drinks in general. This margarita surpassed my expectations. It was just what I needed. Cheers! This was a cool little spot. Service was good, there was pretty cool wall art on the walls, and a couple of good photo spots. The food was pretty good too. The guacamole wasn't anything to get too excited about, but it was good and fresh. I had the Birria Ramen (only $10 on Wednesdays apparently) and it was very good. Definitely a great place to get good Mexican food. Food: everything was sooooooo good the quesobirria tacos were the star of the night we got a 2nd order. I enjoy the fact they use white chicken which it was a win for me on the taco salad. We also had the churros with the vanilla ice cream that was really good too. The churros were small which it was good portion. Service: reason why I didn't give it 5 stars I been here two times however the service is extremely slow and the restaurant only had 2 other tables with people.
