The reviews on here are either good or bad. I found this restaurant to be excellent from start to finish. We were greeted with warm smiles and our waitress Teri was also very nice and attentive. The restaurant is somewhat newly decorated and had a warm ambience. While the garden salad with blue cheese dressing and the lobster bisque were both a bit bland, the salmon with hollandaise sauce was the best salmon I have ever had. It was fresh and delicious and did not have the "fishy" taste that salmon usually has. The captain's choice with lobster and shrimp was phenomenal. They subbed out the sherry wine sauce with lemon butter sauce per my request. The lobster tail was more than a generous portion. Twice baked potato substitution was small, but fantastic. The custard dessert was fresh and delicious along with a Key lime pie martini. The French martini with the raspberry vodka instead of vanilla was absolutely fantastic too. I highly recommend you come for the early bird special like we did. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! This restaurant definitely earned their five stars!!

The atmosphere is just as special as the food. It's an adorable, classic venue that's been around for over 50 years and still has so much charm. On Friday and Saturday nights they even have live music, which makes it such a fun experience. Even if you're not dancing, it's great just watching everyone enjoy themselves. This place really has something special going on, and I can't wait to come back.

Tried Lamoon for the first time on Friday night. We loved the restaurant…read more First thing I noticed was how clean and bright the restaurant was. Really great feeling when many local eats are more on the dark side. We started with the Crab Rangoon. Despite there being very little if any crab, these were really tasty. Crispy and hot, they had a lot of flavor. For Entrees, we had the Deluxe vegetables with chicken and Roasted Duck. The vegetables with chicken was a decent portion and was very flavorful. Chicken was thinly sliced and fresh. A very good dish. The roasted duck was a little drier but still good. I asked for it on the hot side, and they didn't disappoint. Wasn't too hot either. Service was really good. Food was fresh. A really great dinner. All in all, we will be back. I'd give it 4.5 stars due what seemed like little or no crab. But definitely worth your trying this place.

I got my order in a brown paper bag so I didn't really know the size of the container until I got home and pulled it out. Missing Lime wedge Round plastic container (clear top & black bottom recycle #1 dishwasher safe) I opened fairly hot container (4 miles home) making sure I stuck my nose close to it so I could smell the flavors dissipate in my nasal passage. The traditional smell of Pad Thai was so far a good sign to eat the $18 dish. Where's the Beef? I was disappointed in the beef that I paid extra for. It sincerely looked like the cheap regular lunch version; NOT WORTH $18 dollars. The sauce incorporated into the noodles tasted like it was bottled or from a gallon size plastic container from Sysco foods. Flavors of a pungent vinegar base. Not really the taste I was looking for being this was a newer addition to restaurants. Service Generic order taker, not expecting the Pepsodent smile, but more of a grunt would have been nice acknowledging some gratefulness of a customer walking thru the door. Ambiance Same as when the angry Chinese man owned the Chinese restaurant two owner prior when the koi pond was there. Final thoughts So nothing special set apart for a neighborhood restaurant other than overpriced small portions.

Right when we entered we were greeted. They sat us promptly too. The view of the lake was beautiful and the inside was elegantly slick. Our waiter was attentive to the gluten free birthday girl which gave us lots of confidence. Everyone's meal was amazing. I had the skirt steak velasco, and it was perfection. Had two French kiss martinis where they didn't skimp on the alcohol and still tasted great. I honestly expected to pay an arm and a leg for how amazing the food was but the price was very good. I will be returning regularly here.

We came here to celebrate my birthday, and it couldn't have been a better choice. From the moment you walk in, there's a welcoming, neighborhood feel that strikes the perfect balance between casual comfort and polished service. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and I especially appreciated that I never felt like a burden being the only gluten-free person at the table. (All gluten free items are marked!) The beautiful lake view added to the experience and made the evening feel even more special. The food truly impressed across the board. I had the gluten-free lamb chops, which were incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. Other members of our party ordered a variety of dishes, including steak, fish and chips (which were massive; come hungry!), risotto, and pasta with marinara, and everyone genuinely loved their meals. To top the night off, they brought out a birthday chocolate flourless cake, which was such a thoughtful and delicious touch! I'm honestly surprised we slept on this place; it's a must-try for anyone looking for delicious, well-executed food. Mundelein is lucky to have a place like this. If you're nearby and craving quality comfort food done right, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

Our server Chad explained the menu in detail, offered recommendations, and took great pride in the restaurant. Everything is made from scratch, and they have a beautiful open kitchen. We started with the octopus, which our friends and Chad both recommended, and it lived up to the hype. They sous vide it so it's super tender, then crisp it for that little crunch you want in an octopus appetizer. The romesco and chorizo combo had us scraping the plate clean. For dinner, my husband had the hanger steak served with a large bone filled with bone marrow, along with brioche, truffle butter, and the Aligot and Brussels sprouts for sides. The Brussels and butternut squash were sweet, spicy, crispy, and salty - just amazing. I had the monkfish, which is very similar to lobster, and it was delicious! For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée, and like everything else we ate tonight, we left no crumbs. We can't wait to go back!

Overall, the food was very well seasoned and packed with flavor. The chicken was moist and tender. Probably one of the best pieces of chicken I've ever had. The burger was also absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this spot.
