How am I just now trying this place the food is SO fresh and delicious. We love ordering breakfast on the weekend but somehow never ordered from here. Well that's about to change. I got the egg and potato burrito and my husband got an egg burger. Then we split French toast and a chia seed pudding. Everything delivered with a label on what it was and it was all so neatly packaged. This will be our new go to breakfast spot. Wicked Egg is okay--not horrible, but definitely not excellent. While I love and appreciate their farm-to-table concept, the execution just isn't there yet to justify the premium cost. Nearly everything we ordered lacked basic seasoning. On top of that, the kitchen struggled with egg temperatures; both the scrambled eggs and the over-medium eggs were noticeably underdone (the over-medium egg arrived closer to over-easy and broke entirely into the rest of my food). On the bright side, the juices were fresh and very good. Ultimately, the food is highly overpriced for the quality you receive. Breakfast for four came out to over $100. If you're going to charge top-notch prices, the execution needs to be top-notch too. Hopefully, they can tighten up their kitchen consistency, but for now, it's a bit of a letdown. read more

My friend and I stopped by to get some grab and go breakfast before taking the train into Chicago. I have got to say the classic egg sandwich and the classic in a bowl egg breakfast was delicious and probably some of the best egg related breakfast I've ever had. The service was extremely quick and friendly and there is a lot of tables to sit inside and on the back patio of the location. Their menu is expansive as well with lots of other breakfast bowls and egg sandwich options I would want to try. If I'm ever back in libertyville I am definitely returning. read more

Well, this place was a PLEASANT SURPRISE! Love the tongue in cheek sign out front and the cheerful and bold decor inside. Service was exceptional. Waking up with a hankering for french toast and eggs, I perused my handy dandy Uber Eats app and stumbled upon The Wicked Egg. The price point and options were exactly what I was looking for and it was close enough that I'd be eating by the time I finished up some quick work. I ordered the french toast sans powdered sugar, an over easy egg, and truffle salt potatoes. The food arrived quickly and was still warm, but as I started opening items I had a little concern with the potatoes being incredibly overcooked. I tried a potato and they tasted exactly how they looked... burnt. Mind you, this was my first time meeting TWE. But I figured I could save it by masking the burnt flavor with some cheese and sautéd onions so I put it in the oven to hold heat at a low temperature to avoid burning them further but keep everything warm. Welp, the cheese and onions couldn't mask the flavor of burnt so I just ate the sautéd onions with the egg. But as I ate the egg I found it was undercooked with quite a bit of white still raw. I should probably be more concerned about the whites being undercooked, but I continued to eat the egg regardless until I crunched into shell. That was enough of that. On the positive side, the french toast was exactly what I was looking for and cooked to the perfect temperature. It is a smaller portion, but that's exactly what I wanted. I wouldn't be opposed to the french toast again, but given the egg and potato debacles, I'm not really keen on eating there again. Part of me wants to give grace because mistakes happen because I could forgive the egg, but there is no way that anyone packaged those potatoes and said, "Ah, yes, perfect. Burnt, just like our customers like them." The lack of care of what they send out of the kitchen doesn't give me any confidence in the quality or safety of food handling so for me TWE is a no. read more

The inside has a cheeky design featuring every type of colorful egg decor one can while still being tasteful. The menu offers a variety of egg inspired brunch items from sandwiches to potato bowls, salads, sandwiches, and classic items. My fiancé and I each got a sandwich. I got the Keep It Simple and added avocado. This standard comes on a brioche bun with scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and their signature sauce. There was plenty of egg to go around but I wished there was more of their signature sauce in it to add more flavor. My fiancé got The Classic which came with an over medium egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, sauce, also on brioche bun. His had a ton of bacon and way less egg to pair with it. He also tried their Sriracha sauce which added a nice heat. Overall, everything here is made to order and fresh. My only complaint is some of the ingredient ratios seemed off. I've wanted to try this place out for a while and finally had the opportunity, and I am so happy it lived up to my expectations! I'm kinda picky with how eggs are made, and their fluffy scrambled eggs really hit the spot! Their chorizo, wicked jam, and house-made hot sauce are all really flavorful and tasty. Their green juice, which is made fresh every morning and sealed in 12oz bottles is really delicious, definitely one of the best versions I've had. I really appreciate how they use pineapple and orange juice as the base instead of apple juice. The service here was amazing- everyone was so friendly and helpful, and they explained the menu when we mentioned it was our first time here. Even though no one else was eating in at 10am on a Tuesday, the door was constantly ringing with take out and delivery orders. They seem super popular, for good reason. My son got the Benedict bowl and it must've been great because he inhaled it and asked for a bite of my sandwich. What a fabulous breakfast stop in downtown Libertyville. I decided to try this place out as I wanted somewhere quick but not fast food. I ordered online which was super easy; there are so many substitution options available, all of which are also very easy online. My food was ready for pick up in 5 minutes. I ordered the Denver bowl and substituted the ham with bacon. The potatoes were thick cut southern style hash browns. The bacon was crispy, chopped, and a generous portion, the cheese was delicious, however the eggs seemed a little skimpy. You can add extra egg for $2 - but that feels like a steep up charge for a bowl that is already $12. All in all, it was a great bowl and it did feel like a decent sized bowl for the price, despite the amount of eggs. This is definitely a place that I'd go again to try something different. read more

We didn't have to wait long, though, before the friendly cashiers took orders order and answered questions about the menu (no cold brew or iced coffee on offer...yet). There are many breakfast sandwiches and bowls on the breakfast menu, some with an interesting twist like the Denver breakfast sandwich and the Benedict Bowl. I opted for the Benedict Bowl. The Slagel Farms egg was absolutely amazing, as was the chopped ham. I was disappointed that I received breakfast potatoes instead of the advertised English muffin croutons; I'm betting I received somebody's custom breakfast bowl and will try the dish again in the future. We also shared an order of the naughty/delicious Wicked Bacon. I finished things off with a cup of Metropolis Coffee; I appreciated the option to choose between dark roast, medium roast, and/or decaf. I really appreciate the quality and freshness of the ingredients; often, I steer clear of fast/casual breakfast places because the ingredients aren't as fresh or are too carb-heavy. The restaurant is on Milwaukee in downtown Libertyville just a few blocks from the Metra station. There's lots of street parking and nearby public lots, so you might have to walk a block or two if the spots immediately in front are taken. read more

I love supporting small family owned businesses. The owners and staff were so incredibly friendly and really proud of their business. The decor was spot on too. Basically their whole menu offers gluten free options whether it be in a bowl or on gluten free bread. They also have a variety of salads. I tried the Denver Bowl, had a green juice (very flavorful and not too green tasting-fruity), and a fruit bowl. All the food tasted great! Those wondering what the secret jam is; it's not jam like toast but rather a secret sauce that is flavorful. Tried The Wicked Egg today. Entrance from Milwaukee is locked but we found the 'side door' - a bit weird. We were directed to order at the counter but then one of the servers offered to take our order at our table. More confused. She offered us water from a self service station...She also came back to clear our trays after eating when they have a clearly marked 'self service' counter to dispose of items. The print on the menu was so tiny - I had to pull up the menu on Yelp to read it. The food was great! Since it was our first time, we left thinking why is everything designed as self service but was prompted to enter a tip at check out? There was NO place to sit so we took our food to go and sat in the car. My egg in my southern Benny bowl was so small i seriously was like "is this a joke!?" The Wicked Egg is incredibly delicious! I always choose The Classic, paired with wicked bacon and avocado, and a side of green juice. While hot sauce isn't typically my preference, theirs is remarkably good! It's made in-house and can be bought in bottles to take home at a reasonable price. (I bought one!) The hot sauce has a well-balanced level of heat, with a subtle sweetness that complements it nicely. As for the service...it's outstanding! The two brothers who own the restaurant are also exceptionally kind and friendly (my favorite part of eating here), and very accommodating. I have great admiration for them and their taste in food. P.S. - The Wicked Egg also offers many healthy options, and you can modify anything on their menu. You have to try them out! read more

Decided to use my DoorDash credit to try this place. And got a Classic. The packaging was very neat, I love the presentation. The bread was very fluffy so it's easy to press down to eat. Bacon is candied so it's very delicious and not overpowering or greaser. Cheese was melty and soft and not chalky. Egg was also really good though it is pretty runny so much of the yolk got into the bottom of the bag. I would probably taking it out to eat on a plate next time. The sauce was on the sweeter side, and my husband thought it was lobster (lol!). The fresh greens were just OK. The heat probably made it taste less fresh but overall still a good selection of the greens and I like arugula. Pretty expensive overall for a sandwich this size but was very well made. read more

The owners, George and Teddy, were very friendly and this little place has a cute vibe. Right now, it's decorated with all things Fall. Anyway, we love food, and we were impressed with everything we ordered! With each bite, we quickly realized that this isn't just your basic breakfast/brunch place. The brioche buns were pillowy and they, along with the wicked eggs, elevated the burgers. The thick bacon was subtly sweet and smoky. Mmm! The French Toast Babies' crispy edges and soft center were perfection; and for a simple dish, it's now one of my favorites.
