This is a local Mexican bakery. It's hidden in plain sight. It's not much to pook at but it has some hidden treasures if you both to look. I get my tamales here year round. I've been going here for years. They always do a good job on the tamales. The prices have gotten high. I think I paid $30 per dozen recently. It may not look like much but they serve good tamales and fresh taco plates on some evenings. Word to the wise you may want to bring one of your friends who speaks Spanish if you don't. read more

We placed an order over the phone a week prior to Christmas Eve. My mom went to go pick up our tamales on Christmas eve. When she gets there, there is a long line but when she gets to the front of the line the women up front we're NOT nice at all. Even telling my mom that they didn't have the tamales that she was asking for even though my mom mentioned to her that she had ordered previously over the phone. My elderly mom was mind blown how they were talking to her and treating customers around her, even rolling their eyes at customers. This type of customer service is completely unacceptable. Ridiculously treating customers like they need to beg for those tamales when they are DRY, MEDIOCRE and LACK LUSTER. This will be the absolute last time I ever buy tamales from this place and I hope a lot of you read this and go elsewhere as well. treating people like crap when they are giving you business during the holidays is terrible and tacky. My family has been purchasing El Nayar's homemade flour tortillas for YEARS. The staff is friendly and the quality is perfection. Literally can't buy store bought tortillas anymore, after having their tortillas. El Nayar also sells pan dulce-the piggy's are the cheddar. If you show up on a early weekend morning-your get the pick of the lot, and they're WARM and FRESH. El Nayar's Bakery brings back memories of past bakeries I have been to: straight-forward, unpretentious and very affordable. This morning we tried 2 sweet breads (pan dulce). In the picture, the top bread is concha and the bottom cookie is polvorones. The concha is a small semi-sweet loaf, white and very light breading. Concha means shell in Spanish, which is what this bread looks like. The distinctive topping is made primarily from shortening, confectioner sugar and flour. This makes for a sweet, tasty topping. The concha at Nayar's is very typical of what I have had in many, many places. Polvorones is a whole class of cookies. Polvo in Spanish means powder or dust. As with these cookies, they crumble quite easily. They have a very mild flavor; the variation in color here is a result of coloring. They are semi-sweet and good with a cup of coffee. We ate them on their patio, which in the morning had plenty of shade and was set back enough to be away from the traffic. read more

My mom was craving pan dulce so we check yelp to see if there was a local bakery and El Nayar showed up. It's a older, small bakery with limited variety on pan dulce, but they also offer flour and corn tortillas, tamales and menudo on the weekends. My mom decided on a few different breads and said they were good but a little dry. I picked a few for the hubby including and empanada with creme which he split with me and it was okay, not what I'm use to but still good. He agreed with my mom the other items he had were flavorful but dry. read more

The conchas were soft and delicious on the bottom and the top sugar did not come off and had a little of a crunch to it which was amazing. The pigs are super soft and taste so good. The pork tamales smelled so good and tasted good as well. I am definitely coming back. read more

I called the place they told me that the tamales were not fresh... they had been defrosted ... (were sold as fresh) I took some of the tamales back and was assisted by Bertha and Maria, Bertha tried to start off by saying they hadn't made the tamales ... Maria just was yelling at the top of her lungs saying that never had she had that happen... They didn't want to take accountability for the bad food. I must have looked like a fool! got menudo this morning. the soup had no taste, even had to add salt. 80% corn, very little meat. The tortillas must have been from yesterday, they where already hard. Ben we miss you dearly. They charge $9 plus $1.35 for old tortillas you must buy a dozen. It pains me to give such a low review since their tamales really are delicious but I feel like I need to warn busy moms such as myself. There is a big chance that they will give your preordered tamales away. It's already happened to me twice. And when you are on a tight schedule and were planning on feeding a big party with those tamales, it is super stressful when it happens. I wish they would come up with a better system of keeping track of preordered tamales and walk ins. Until they do, I will be going elsewhere for my tamales. This place does a really good job at tamales and salsa. They were affordable and delicious. I bought the cheese and Chile and Chicken tamales. It's located right off Orange in Redlands close to the 10 freeway, it's outside appearance may seem a little run down and the inside also may appear to be run down but it makes up with the quality of food. The parking situation is weird because they have a big lot but about 8 parking spaces. By the time I left cars were parked like it was Tetris. One thing I would say that is a big pep peeve is the speed of service. The line was long and their was only one person at the register getting orders and filling the orders. I saw about 4 other employees walking around while we waited. I felt bad for her as she was rushing to fill the orders. Overall I am pleased with the tamales. My review is mostly based on the tacos. Seriously, delicious, moist, tender and fresh. The best street tacos. The tamales are great and the pan dulce. The fresh tortillas. Oh my! .
