I am not very happy. A place that sells cakes this tall should have appropriate boxes. It was sealed with plastic wrap when I picked it up and I trusted it looked good all the way around based on the side I could see. I had to spackle the blue from the lid back to the cake. The handwriting on top seems sloppy and this is not how writing is portrayed on the website. Also, I thought it was going to be fondant-decorated since the cakes on display were fondant and I specifically asked if the fondant would get dewy in the fridge. Finally, I ordered vanilla filling, but since this was my first time ever ordering a custom cake, I didn't know I needed to specify buttercream or bavarian cream, nor was it asked for clarificafion by the person taking my order. So the filling was also not what I expected. The funfetti cake tasted good, and the shells were beautiful and very realistic. 3 stars instead of 2 since my daughter still loved it and the design/color matched my request, but room for improvement and customer satisfaction. However, for the price I paid, this is pretty disappointing. read more

I stopped by to try their in store individual options. I bought a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. The cake tasted like red dye 40 drenched in sugar. I have had many red velvet cupcakes and they never tasted like red dye 40 because they didn't use red dye 40. It was a $4 cupcake so the use of a cheap dye makes sense. If you are sensitive to red dye 40, be awake this shop uses it and take appropriate cautions. The employee was nice but I got a vibe she didn't want to be there. It is a cute shop with cute cake designs but the red dye is something that will prevent me from returning. read more

Oh my goodness the design was amazing!!! Coming back for sure! This is a late review but I ordered my son's 2nd Sloth theme bday cake and my mom's embroidered cake here and let me tell you, super impressed with the baker/designer, 10 stars!!! Only comment I have is that it was so sweet and it was hard to eat... and there was a lot of it. But I am coming back for more because the quality of the design was just amazing!! We had a very yummy wedding cake from Sugarbee, but a few things did fall flat throughout our process which is why I would really give them 3.5 stars. At the end of the day, the cake taste itself was perfect so I went with 4 stars for the sake of the review, but please keep reading so you can be aware of these things. We did the Medium Tiered Cake Gold Package which included a 2-Tier cake & flower color of our choice and 4 dozen cupcakes (which we upgraded to 6 dozen). At first I was hesitant on the 2-tiers and wondered if we needed 3 for our ~100 person wedding, but 2 honestly ended up being the perfect size because of course not everyone ate it and the tiers have some serious height to them! Before we ordered we also did a cake tasting which included 3 different cake and icing flavors for a total of $40. The tasting was very sizable and definitely worth it. I also liked that they just let us pick it up and eat it on our own without the pressure of them watching us and trying to sell us on it. One thing that was a little frustrating was that when we picked up the cake tasting, the woman told us that if we booked a cake with them, we could credit the $40 to that purchase. However, when we called later to book we were told that woman lied to us and they would not honor it. At the end of the day it was just $40, but I think they should have honored this since their associate said it and we were making a large purchase. Regardless, our wedding was down the street in Redlands so Sugarbee was both convenient and tasted fabulous so we booked them. I'll also note we had vegan and gluten free guests so it was great to accommodate them with their cupcake options. Placing the order was very simple on their website and we went with: CAKE: Textured with lilac (lavender) colored flowers. Funfetti cake with chocolate icing in the inside and vanilla buttercream on the outside. So fun!! CUPCAKES (You can also choose from their other non-cupcake desserts): - 1 dz. GLUTEN FREE vanilla cupcakes w/ vanilla icing - 1 dz. VEGAN chocolate cupcakes w/ VEGAN peanut butter icing - 1 dz. marble cupcakes w/ oreo icing - 1 dz. red velvet cupcakes w/ cream cheese vanilla icing - 1 dz. vanilla cupcakes w/ chocolate icing - 1 dz. strawberry cupcakes w/ hazelnut icing We had my husband's Dad and Dad's GF pick up the cake on the day of the wedding. She used to own her own bake shop and made wedding cakes so we trusted her with the transportation. When she picked it up, she also fully inspected he cake and noticed that it was a little lopsided and the icing was not placed on well at all so much so that she had them go back and fix it. I obviously never knew this until after the wedding was over, but I am so happy she was there to save the day since Sugarbee didn't deliver on the aesthetic mark. She also asked them for extra icing so she could do touchups at the venue, so something to keep in mind for future orders. The lesson of the day is to make sure you are 100% checking the cake before you walk out of the door and be critical of any changes you want made, especially on a wedding cake! Like I said, I never knew this happened during the wedding so for me I was very happy with how everything looked including the flower arrangement. The guests all really liked the cake and the different flavor of cupcakes too and the cake texture and moistness was perfect. After the wedding was over, our Coordinators also boxed all the remaining cake and cupcakes up for us and we got to enjoy it all over the next few days. I never got to try a red velvet cupcake though, those went FAST haha. We also cut a piece of cake off and froze it for our 1 year anniversary next year. I'm already looking forward to it! read more

Ordered online the number cake for a birthday and was able to custom color what we wanted. I called them to confirm the details of the number cookie cake and they were professional and courteous. I showed them a picture from their Instagram page for inspiration and that I wanted pink and gold colors and the cookie and cake was beyond our expectations. Beautifully made with detail and care, was a gorgeous highlight to the birthday celebration. I am not happy at all and did not come close to meeting our expectation. I ordered a specialty cake for a graduation (cost $320). First, they had no boxes that fit a tall two layered cake which left the cake exposed. The cake was immediately put in the refrigerator until the next day. The top cake started to slant, the decoration bled into the frosting, frosting was not smooth in areas and the red color faded. I asked for Bavarian cream filing in one layer and got vanilla. One decoration fell before serving. I was so embarrassed that I did not even serve the cake that day. It went back in the frig until the next day when we cut it and realized issues with the cake itself. The vanilla cake was dry and the filing was wrong. At their request I sent an email with the issues and asked them to review and respond. No response, so I called. I am not sure who I talked to, but she said that she didn't need to respond to my email, and that they had cameras and the cake was perfect when it left the bakery and that it WAS MY FAULT. The pictures that I sent showing them what I was talking about only confirmed to them that it was my fault. I must have left it out all night for this to happen and what do I want them to do about it. Well, that was the wrong thing to say to a customer. Got me on the defensive and voices were raised. What I was looking for is not to get reimbursed; although, now after this conversation, yes; but for them to at least have some compassion and not be on the defensive and placing blame on the customer. I will never return or recommend this bakery for any of our events. read more

We have ordered from Sugarbee a number of times, and the cakes have always been excellent. This last cake however, was above and beyond our imagination. We ordered a cake for my son's first birthday with a dinosaur theme. We were able to provide the team at Sugarbee the image of the dinosaurs in the theme and they provided a phenomenal cake. We went with the funfetti cake with the cookie butter filling. Our guests not only devoured all the cupcakes and the vast majority of the cake, the compliments for the taste of the baked goods are still rolling in a week after the event. They were very flexible with me as it pertained to the number of cupcakes (since some of the RSVP's came in late). We are already planning our other son's birthday with Sugarbee. I got married on October 28, 2022. We went with Sugarbee for our wedding cake based on word of mouth recommendations. Cannot express how amazing this bakery is!! To start, the tasting was so much fun. The only issue was that we couldn't decide which flavors we wanted to go with because they were ALL good. Once we decided to go with them, I was worried because I had a really specific vision for a non-traditional black/gold cake with some geometric dividers. They totally nailed it. Check the photos, it's exactly what I'd asked for, except somehow cooler. They handled transport to Los Angeles (where we live and where our wedding venue was) and the cake was in perfect condition and assembled on site without any issue. I won't be returning, they messed up my order cupcake order and the cake sucked. I simply order 24 mini chocolates cupcakes and 24 mini vanilla cupcakes. I got 24 mini chocolates and 12 reg size chocolates and 12 reg size vanilla. The owner apologize and refund $45 for the 24 mini cupcakes. The cake was $120. The cake topper was awful, super faded and I wasn't told that edible cake topper wouldn't match same color as the image I sent them? Very disappointed in that. Beautiful cakes and I appreciate the ease of ordering online. We have tried their naked cake with fresh flowers (strawberry flavored) and the mermaid cake (vanilla). Their cakes are beautifully-decorated and quite tall so they are good for large parties of people. The pickup process was also very smooth and easy. Just picked up my FIRST and LAST order from Sugarbee. To begin with I ordered vanilla cupcakes for Mother's Day and I received a variety pack of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Half of my family is allergic to anything chocolate or strawberry so I went back into the store to ask for my correct order. The girl said she remembered making them and then LAUGHED and said 'oops I must have given yours to someone else' I explained my situation and she said it was bakers choice so she couldn't do anything about it. So I get to my car and actually look at the cupcakes: (1) The decorations hardly resemble what they advertised (probably the reason they already took down any photos on their page) Very simple and basic compared to what they advertised. (2) Half of the cupcakes are either under filled or over filled and spilling out These were NOT what I expected from a gourmet bakery for $30.00. Recently, my friends and I bought a custom cake from Sugarbee. We were extremely disappointed with the outcome. Of course, we weren't expecting an exact replica from the reference photos; however, we did notice a few key elements missing. We contacted Sugarbee (the same day as pickup) in hopes of finding a solution. Instead of working with us, they got defensive. This didn't solve anything, so when we tried to address it again, they straight up blocked my friend on instagram-- completely ignoring the problem. A very immature response. We paid a good amount of money for this cake and expected better results. Not just with the cake but also with the customer service. There were so many positive reviews and pictures of difficult cakes they have done in the past, and it was so disappointing to see that they wouldn't even properly address any concerns we had about our cake. Maybe next time I'll stick to my culture's durian cake. Anyways, 0/10 would recommend Sugarbee, but I'll still give the 1 star because the cake itself tasted pretty decent. PS reading all of these reviews and Sugarbee's responses to anything negative really just proves that customer service isn't their forte. read more
