This was an interesting Mexican place. Very limited menu, but they did have pozole. It seems to be catering to the local population as well have noticed that the true spicy nature of some cuisines are toned down. The salsa was very basic, and even the spicy salsa was not very spicy. The tri tip was just 4 pieces of steak. The pozole was good but not that special compared to other places I have been. They do charge extra for any chips beyond the first set and tortillas are a side not included in their plates. Service was good. The ambiance was odd in the sense that the floor felt uneven, but was a family style place. We may be back. read more

We had two Enchilada meals delivered from El Nido last night. They were both a disappointment. One was a 'Enchilada Ground Beef Rojas'. Thy over cooked the ground beef with no seasoning or sauce. The enchilada was topped with cheese. The other meal was a 'Floutas en mole' It was a way over cook chicken where it was hard with no sauce of seasoning in it. These people do not know what they are doing. There are to many good Mexican restaurants. Also, This container was $6.00 worth of Guacamole for dipping in with chips. read more

My first time here and I was soo impressed! I came with family that have been regulars for close to 12 yrs. I had the mommas chicken soup. It did not disappoint! I love that they shred the chicken,so you get some in every bite! All the veggies were super fresh and cooked to perfection! We also had black bean enchiladas with Verde and tacos. Our meal was delicious! I had a fairly new menu item, the mole burrito. The burrito was large, stuffed with wonderful grilled chicken , and the mole sauce was excellent. It was a pile of chips with a quarter head of iceberg lettuce, a quarter cup of chicken and 3 slices of avocado. My husband ordered the California taco salad. It was slightly better. read more

l was over at the Barnyard that is located in the same parking lot. I was referred to go to this establishment from a friend. When I arrived, I was given chips and salsa and my server never came back. I waited over 20 minutes. I also walked up to someone that worked there to let them know that my server was missing. The server still never came so I left and I do not recommend this place. I will not return. I took my business somewhere else l recommend that you try the Forbes steakhouse instead which is also located in the same parking lot. I've had my eye on El Nido each and every time I go to the Town & Country marketplace. And, each time I say "I need to try this place". Well, I did recently via Doordash. The Burro Bronco burrito [$12, 4.5 stars] sounded good to me, especially with ground beef. It was really good, and at a reasonable price. Recommended! However, the side beans and rice for $7 was a waste -- way too much for way to little Fail. The place looks cute. Worthy of a real, in-person, appearance! read more

Was craving chicken soup and El Nido's Mamas Chicken Soup is soup perfection! Plenty of veggies, cooked perfectly, lots of chicken and the rice and broth are fantastic!! We always get the absolute best service from Yeni & Sandy & Julia ( owner) The food is always delicious & tasty our favorites are the Posole ( when in season ) & Mama's chicken soup add jalapeños squeeze fresh lime juice ~ muy deliciouso! which is absolutel full of fresh vegetables. We usually always get the carnitas Diablo & the Patron margaritas or Carnitas Nachos. We will shears continue to come here b/c we get exceptional service from Yeni she is very attentive & she pretty much knows what we order every time we come out in! My Nana and I have dined here twice. Both times, the service and food have been inadequate. Food we've tried: * Chips and salsa: 8/10 - I like that the chips are served warm. I asked for extra hot salsa and it was muy caliente! I had to ask for the hot salsa 3 times. * 2 item combo with crispy chicken taco, chicken enchilada with verde sauce: 5/10 - Got my crispy chicken taco wrong. Instead I got a soft chicken taco. Chicken enchilada with verde sauce was tasteless. There was hardly any verde sauce. Got my sour cream and guac on the side. * 1 carne asada street taco a la carte: 6/10 - I've ordered this on my previous visit. This time around, there was hardly any carne asada on my taco. There was more cilantro and onion than carne asada. * 3 item combo with beef chimichanga, crispy chicken taco and enchilada roja: 5/10 - This was Nana's order. He said it was just ok. * Chile Relleno: 4/10 It was more like a chili inside of a tortilla. More like a chili enchilada. Drinks: * 2 classic house margaritas: 3/10 Very weak. Tasted like limes, water and sugar. Also asked for it on the rocks and salted rim. Delivered to our table without salt. And when I asked for the salt, the waitress gave us iodozed table salt. Boo! Ambiance: 9/10 I like the decor. Very festive. Service: Both times we dined here, the service was below average. The waitresses always got something wrong with our order. The interior is not so big but adequate to seat a fair amount of people and they also have seats outside so that's a plus. Complimentary chips and salsa is always good and addicting! I ordered the two item meal, where I chose the chili relleno and chicken flauta. The beans and rice were delicious. The portions are a bit smaller compared to other Mexican restaurants I've dined at. After being told by my bf that I had to try this Mexican restaurant as part of his family's Mexican food restaurant trifecta, I can here with my bf and a couple of my friends on Saturday. We were seated pretty quickly since we got there pretty early for dinner. Once seated, we ended up ordering quite a few things. My bf got a three item combo, my friend got a two item combo, his girlfriend got the beef Colorado dinner plate, and I got the steak fajitas. My bf ordered Pepsi while the remaining three of us got Horchatas. My bf said his three item combo was only average. Apparently he had a tamale in his combo but the masa was super hard. The other two items I guess were just average. My friend and his gf however both enjoyed their food. And I enjoyed my fajitas. So it may depend on what you order whether something is good or not. However, while my friend and his gf liked the horchata, I wasn't a huge fan of it. Not sure what was added, but it's definitely not normal horchata. There was a strange floral taste to it which I wasn't sure what it was from. It was also a bit on the bland side. So while I probably would come back here for specific food, probably best to go without a drink next time. read more

Never been here before, but we were in the area with our dog, & they have outdoor seating. It already seemed ominous because there were just a few people inside and no one in the patio dining. I pulled up their Yelp, & there's the low rating and bad reviews about poor service. Unfortunately for us, the reviews are spot on. The server asked us twice if we wanted something to drink. I asked for menus since I don't know what they offer Later, when she brought out our fajitas, she asked if we only needed one container of tortillas & motioned to take the other container back. Ridiculous. My husband asked for his own, so she set it down. And that was the last time we saw her during our meal, despite not having the regular side of sour cream, pico, cheese, & salsa. So, we just ate our fajitas dry. Afterwards, I had to go into the restaurant to ask for a box and the bill. I asked if she missed the the toppings, & she said that it costs extra! I said but you never offered. We've never dined here, & you never checked in on us. She just asked how big of a takeout container I wanted. Surprised that this place is still open when there are so many other better choices nearby. Diners be warned. read more

Honestly my only recommendation is to not order anything from here and go somewhere else. 2 times i got a burrito and it consisted of 90% rice 8% beans and 2% completely over cooked and dry meat with no flavor. The first burrito i got was chicken but it came with literal bones from the chicken. On top of that the tacos are also just trash. They took reservations for our party of 15 for a Sunday. They apparently are closed on Sundays, yet took our reservation. We had to scramble to find another restaurant that day. We left them a voicemail and no one called back to discuss the incident. We will never go back. read more

This is a good Mexican restaurant. Food is nice, setting is nice (especially the outside seating area) and service is good. Their spicy salsa is actually spicy, and their food is nicely seasoned. They offer all of the usual suspects one expects to find on their menu, plus a few that are a little more original. I wasnt hungry so I decided to order only 2 small tacos to get by while I wait... next thing you know the waitress is passively saying (upselling to buy) it comes with beans and rice and I had to correct the waitress no I do not have to order two street style tacos with rice and beans? As if I would noticed. Also ask if I would like a drink so I got horchata. To make things short their street tacos was $5.99 each. I grew up near SF and no way street tacos suppose to be that much? We went to El Nido for the first time last week. My kids ordered the nachos & fries and the beef taco & fries. They both seemed to like the food. My wife ordered the Mama's chicken soup. She said it was good and was pretty healthy too. I ordered the chicken fajitas. They came out sizzling hot and we're really tasty! The chicken was browned just right and it also came with sizzling bell peppers and onions. Just before leaving, they let our kids get a piece of candy out of the piñata. Of course, my kids loved that! We'll definitely return someday soon! Overall grade: A- read more

Never again. We have been going to El Njdo for about 15 years. No more. We'd been patient and tolerant through Covid to support local businesses. No more. If I wanted the Spirit Air of Mexican restaurants, I'd go to Chipotle. I won't comment on $19 carnitas: sitting outside with haphazard service. I'll give base price a pass. I will comment on $2.50 for soda water (like out of the bar dispenser), $3 for tortillas, $1 for guacamole, $.50 for sour cream. Their tagline is "our family serving your family since 1983." Won't serve this family any longer. Let me suggest Los Panchos, Los Hermanos, Cielito, or heck, Rancho Grande in San Ramon, or Los Pericos in Dublin. There were plenty of empty tables. Ill start with the good. The interior is super cute! The services was good too. Chips were nice. Now...the food. We may be spoiled with Mexican food in SF and might come off as jaded. But we came in with no expectations other than good and edible. Salsa that came with chips was pretty watered down. A nice fresh pico de gallo would have sufficed. Guacomole wasnt bad. Kids ordered kids chicken burritos. Very dry. Rice wasnt flavorful at best. The tortillas were stale. Store bought? Not fresh and left a bad after taste. I had the steak fajitas which was inedible. My steak was thick and rubber. I couldnt even chew it. My veggies were raw. Those that werent raw were burned black. They charge you for sides ie cheese and sour cream. That is first. The plates werent cheap to start with and you have to add on for all the usual condiments. HUGE bummer as we love Mexican food and this place looked like the ONE on paper. If they were to change their recipes? Get some authentic training? I know this place can be an amazing go to. read more
