What a hidden gem! I've passed this place so many times, I'm glad I stopped. I initially wanted to eat at the sushi spot next door but they were closed. And you can't go wrong with Mexican food so I decided to just go next door to Don Chepe. I went around 2pm and it wasn't busy at all. The cashier was super nice. I ordered the enchilada plate and a horchata. I initially thought it was kind of pricey at first. But my goodness! Look at the size of the plate! Idk if you can even tell from the picture but it's HUGE. I had enough leftover for dinner that night. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Located at the edge of downtown Pleasanton, Taqueria Don Chepe offers delicious Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices. The service is decent. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. They have a self-serve chips and salsa bar. The restaurant is small but they have enough tables to accommodate a few parties. We ordered the crispy taco plate with al pastor, carnitas, and chili verde. All the tacos were delicious! The meat was flavorful. I like the lettuce, guac, sour cream and pico on the plate that you can add to your tacos on your own. The beans were excellent! The rice was dry. We also ordered the menudo. Good flavor but it didn't come with hominy. If you want it, you have to ask for it because it only comes with the posole. Wish I had known that before. Would definitely come back.

small taqueria in downtown Pleasanton. The restaurant was clean. You walk up to order and the server friendly to take our order service. There's a few tables inside so you seat yourself. They have a decent plate menu options. There's an open bar for salsa, tortilla chips, peppers and hot sauce. The food was served promptly. We were all pleased with our food. I would definitely recommend anyone to come try if you are looking for some low key Mexican food.

Taqueria Don Chepe is a solid Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Pleasanton. I ordered the enchilada plate, which was both massive and delicious! Their red enchilada sauce was delicious, and I was able to choose 3 different meats. Their carnitas was by far my favorite. Juicy, tender, and a little crispy - perfection! DIY salsa bar and their salsa packed a punch - loved it! Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. :) Friendly staff, cozy dining room, and plenty of parking in a back lot. I'll definitely be back!

I LOVE Taqueria Don Chepe. When it comes to flavor and affordability, it's hard to beat here in the Pleasanton area. The food always comes out fast and the staff are always so friendly. They also have a self serve chips and salsa area, which I appreciate, now that some stores are charging for both. I do wish they had some funkier meats - lengua, cabeza, etc. But the selection of meats, including the fish tacos, have always been so yummy that I keep coming back!

Man I love this place for lunch and dinner if I'm craving real Mexican food. Taqueria Don Chepe is hands down the best spot in Pleasanton for authentic Mexican food! The flavors are incredible and truly taste homemade, far better than most places in the area please venture out of downtown Pleasanton and come here. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and prepared with care. If you're looking for real, authentic Mexican food and great service, this is the place. Highly recommend the quesa birria their consumé it comes with is fantastic

Me and my wife ordered a chicken flautas. They were burnt if the owner don't believe this post go replay your cameras. The taco tortillas where not cooked on all sides Land we also ordered garlic shrimp plate way too much salt

California Burrito with Al pastor and refried beans, carne asada fries

The best East Bay burrito in the Pleasanton area. 100% recommend getting a California burrito with refried beans and al pastor. It's soft, loaded, well-wrapped, and too easy to inhale. The tortilla is perfectly grilled and has that right amount of stretch. I loved the green salsa and will definitely be coming back for it. The carne asada fries were okay, but the burrito is where it's at. I've sat down to eat and also ordered takeout via DoorDash. Both are great!

This place is the best in the area. TONS of choices, real flavor, and quality food. Food is consistent and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Plenty of seating and a calm atmosphere. I always come here when I'm looking for something tasty.

Great pastor tacos! The salsa bar has great options. The chips were slightly greasy which some might like.

I wouldn't expect traditional Mexican food coming here because it's definitely more of a Cal-Mex fusion! The presentation, ingredients, ways of preparing are different and I love that :) Asada Fries ($25): I enjoyed this much more than I expected, and I thought I would bring some home...I didn't. The ranch and BBQ sauce surprised me, but the flavor profile worked! Also loved the shape of the sidewinder fries, kind of like c-shaped wedges. Crispy Plantains ($14): I enjoyed these dipped in sour cream! It came with a lot, so I would for sure save some to eat with vanilla ice cream at home :) My friend got a side of black beans ($8) with it which she said was okay; I think she was thrown off by them being drowned in water lol Our server was lovely even as the evening got busier. I will be back to try their enchiladas and Mahi Mahi burrito!

They even split the meal onto two separate plates for us. The food was reasonable priced, around 20-25 per dish. However, a fountain soda was $5 and the fee to split the meal was $3, which we felt was a bit excessive. Otherwise it was a cute place to stop for a quick lunch!
