We were in downtown Pleasanton to pick up a cake from a local bakery. We managed to find a three-hour limit parking space and Cochina Mexico was directly across the street. I'm one to take advantage of a good situation but their listing didn't say anything about allowing dogs. My wife walked across the street to inquire and then came out and waved for me to bring the dog. There were at least ten tables in the outdoor area and only one was in use. We took a table and my wife went in to place our order after we looked at the menu online. I got a Chile Rellano Platter with Rice, Beans and Corn Tortillas. She got Two Tacos with Rice and Beans. We ordered unseasoned Chicken from a Chicken Taco for the dog. We split a Horchata to drink. Some tortillas Chips and Pico de Gallo were also supplied. The food was brought out to us pretty quickly. We recently had a grad party for my daughter. We did onsite catering of taco bar! The owner, Anthony did an awesome job explaining our options and customize to our needs. They were on time on the day of the event. Went above and beyond and stayed longer than originally agreed upon at no additional cost. They have a few tables inside, but I recommend planning to sit on the streetside patio. Great menu filled with all the usual suspects. I needed tacos, and they offer both soft and crispy shells. Yes, love the crispy the most. They have options of all types of meats, too. Yes, love the meats! And, AYCE chips and salsa, also YES! I opted for 2 tacos, no sides: Carnitas and chile verde. The ingredients were fresh and the salad was tasty, although a little on the small side. The pico de gallo could have used more onions, a little heat and salt, maybe some cilantro. I've eaten here about 10 times and have always enjoyed their food. It wasn't until today that I realize how solid the food really is. This is one of the rare spots that the whole family agreed on and that's saying a lot considering we have two teenagers. The staff is very accommodating to any questions or specifics needs on your order. I was so excited to see their keto taco plate today as I'm watching my carb intake. I was so surprised when I tasted my steak tacos to find that the tortillas were fresh and actually tasty. I often find that when you try to order the healthier option at fast food places, they aren't always fresh. We've tried their soups, burritos, crunch wrap and it's all tasty. Free chips and salsa are available as well. They have some tables outside so it's a great option if you have a dog. And their prices are good. There isn't many places in downtown Pleasanton that you can feed a family of four for under $100. read more

This is me and my wife's favorite restaurant. The service is always wonderful and the food is delicious.

Normally I come here for a burrito (which is great), but finally, this time to sit down and have a meal. I ordered my benchmark for all Mexican restaurants, a chile relleno. It was great and a huge amount of food. Chips are self-serve so that you can get more as you're waiting for your food. The salsa selection is well-varied and I found one that was spicy enough for me. It's been a while since my last review, so I thought I'd come back here with an update. Still five stars for me. But I appreciate that they made some noticeable changes. First of all, the chips and salsa bar are great. They got better bags! Lol... last time I wrote about how the bags were too skinny and it was difficult to load with chips. Second, they added keto tacos. I haven't tried them yet but they look delicious. I'll have to give them a shot. Lastly, have to shout out the young lady who works the cashier (with the blonde highlights). She is so friendly and professional. She works hard, but always has a smile. Delicious tender burrito with tons of flavor for a great price! The wet burrito was huge and drenched with salsa, so the whole burrito was flavorful and didn't dry out at all. The texture of the tortillas and meat were perfect melt in your mouth. I like how they include the pineapple with the Al pastor. I felt like the ratios of all the fillings was perfect. There's a self serve chip and salsa bar, but they will include it in your takeout bag too if you want! The staff was very kind and made sure I had everything I wanted! The salsas weren't super spicy, but they were still full of flavor. Even though the burrito was massive, I didn't feel gross after and didn't have acid reflux lol. Why the 3 stars? Missing items: our online orders included added guacamole for an extra dollar and it was missing (see example below). Didn't make sense to drive back 30 minutes for just that, but I hate when restaurants miss explicitly opted items. Other than that, a solid spot for Mexican food. I couldn't say enough good things about this place. I've been coming here for a while for their breakfast burritos and their super burritos, both of which are great! However, what really made this place stand out for me was with their catering service. I ordered the XL taco bar for a party of around 30 people, and the process couldn't have been easier. Anthony made everything super easy and he was very pleasant to work with throughout the process. They have carnitas nachos! My boyfriend and I were out running errands and he was craving some good nachos. I came across this place and it was perfect since you can get nachos with your choice of meat and add toppings like guacamole. The place was empty which could have been from the hot weather. It was semi-air conditioned inside and we ordered the nachos, enchilada plate & 2 horchata's. The place has self serve chips and salsa while you wait which I think was a nice touch and a plastic utensil dispenser. Our nachos came first and enchiladas came 10 mins after that. However our horchatas went missing, I asked for water after we got our nachos since we were still waiting on our horchatas. We waited 10 more minutes after all the food arrived to see if they were just behind but they were forgotten. The cashier apologized but I will just say it was kinda silly since we were the only customers inside. The first time I had the shrimp taco ala carte and chicken taquitos, hubby had chicken enchilada plate and guacamole. This time I had the shrimp tacos plate, delicious rice and beans. Hubby had the same enchiladas plate but this time added a shrimp taco ala carte as well. Too much food..... But that's okay. Definitely our new favorite place. We were starving, we wanted something good to eat and decided to visit Cocina Mexico based on yelp reviews and we were not disappointed! We ordered two carne asada super burritos and they tasted so good! Food was hot, fresh, complementary chips and salsa, salsa bar was nice and clean! Service was great, young lady who was cashier was very nice when we visited Sunday afternoon 3/26/2023. I love the location of the restaurant and I loved the art on the tables inside of the restaurant as well. I like this little Mexican restaurant. I've been coming here for many years. It's off Main Street. Clean inside. Ample seating outside. Nothing fancy but they have good decent affordable Mexican food. I ordered the Ensalada Fresca which is kale, pumpkin seeds, avocado, queso fresco, sour cream... I didn't know it came with black beans. (Take out the beans and it would've been keto-friendly.) For an additional $3 you can ask for steak or chicken. I got carnitas. The salad was very filling and tasty. The dressing came on the side and it was good. Nice veggie to meat ratio! We also ordered burritos (huge!), enchiladas, and flautas. The dishes came out as you would expect = delicious!
