Cal Star Mobile Home Construction - Recent kitchen remodel for a client (2020)

Unprofessional Work, Skyrocketing Costs, and Worthless Warranty…read moreI cannot recommend Cal Star Mobile Home Construction. While their salesman is excellent at closing deals, the actual construction work and customer service are incredibly poor. I initially hired them for subfloor repairs in my kitchen and master bath, plus some minor work on my back porch. The initial quote seemed reasonable, so I paid the deposit. However, the scope of work quickly changed. They claimed they couldn't fix the kitchen subfloor without tearing out the tile, forcing me into an expensive new kitchen floor. In the end, the price skyrocketed under high-pressure tactics, my bathroom floor was altered, but the porch was never fixed at all. The quality of the installation is unacceptable. They cut corners by failing to run the new flooring the full length of the room, leaving unfinished gaps hidden behind my washer, dryer, and refrigerator. The flooring is also not laid tight and is separating. When I pointed this out, their "flooring specialist" dismissively asked, "You can see that?" Their warranty is completely worthless, and they didn't fix the problems. I am now forced to hire a legitimate contractor to completely redo their substandard work. Avoid this company.

Unfortunately, the response time for follow-up service has been extremely delayed--measured in months rather than days or weeks. The gutters on the awnings installed by Home Improvements by Tim Allard overflow significantly during normal rainfall. Before purchasing and installing the two 62-foot awnings, I specifically asked whether the system would be capable of handling the expected surface water runoff. I was assured that it would. However, it does not. Eventually, Scott returned to inspect the issue and acknowledged both the overflow problem and the need for an additional downspout. I purchased these awnings with the expectation that they would include a complete and properly designed drainage system capable of performing their intended function. I am now being told that I must pay an additional expense to install the downspouts necessary to make the system function adequately. This is not what I was originally told, and it raises a concerning question: Why would a system be sold and installed if it was not sufficient for the job from the start? I trusted Home Improvements by Tim Allard to provide a complete solution. Instead, the project remains incomplete, and I am left with overflowing gutters--a problem that did not exist with my previous system. I believe this issue should be corrected without additional cost to me, as the current configuration does not meet the expectations that were established at the time of sale. I hope this matter can be resolved promptly and fairly.

Short update on one of the lack luster job done by Chris and Joey from Pacific Coach Werks…read more Honestly they don't even deserve one star! Please note the attached pictures for just two of the windows they installed just a few short months ago! Charged us $1200.00 for these two windows and installation. Look at the trim after less than six months! Obviously they used the wrong adhesive or whatever compound (maybe they just used bubble gum??) Finish trim is lifting off already! Imagine what it would look like when the weather heats up and it completely falls off. One more thing I need to get someone else in to clean up and fix that they did! April 25, 2020 discovered why the trim on the windows was peeling off. Evidently the windows they ordered and installed were too small. Their remedy was to take some plastic trim with a blue strip of two sided tape to cover up their mess. Since the window and frame were about 1/2 inch difference in width nothing was holding their trim to the frame. Hence, the cheap tape gave way and their cover up trim began peeling off after 2 months! Crap, now I have to find someone to fix another of their messes!

We thought it was acceptable, but In time things began happen!!! Electrical current was miswired! New refrigerator, micro, and TV burned out. Then the supports began to twist, move up and down, home shakes. We discovered the company never bothered to inspect foundation work or measure incorrect wiring. The result was messing with our sense of place. We were feeling Disgusting spending all this money. But eventually repaired the floor frame thanks to Tom! He was patiently explaining experiences related-can't thank him enough-worth it! I am a state licensed plumber, and have new construction experience in residential, but I was in the dark until Tom's crew came and handled this. It's more difficult than I thought. It's a raised, jack supported structure. He used a laser level; discussed the bending in the I Beam, and need for jacks to carry the load evenly. His guys spoke about and repaired each individual problem this errant company sold us! The result was a New home liveable the way it should be. Thank you Tom and all the men at All Around Leveling-1,000 thanks great job! Let me say Tom and his crew addresses the concerns in relationship to the State Codes his license follows, again Tom great job!

What a great experience working with a team of professionals who don't overcharge but overperformed.
