We were seated quickly and the waitress was nice. The chips came out hot and fresh after we destroyed 3 baskets of chips the food came out it was all good and had no issues. But when we wanted refills the waitress accidentally spilled water on one of us which was fine we all laughed it off but the waitress never came back with a towel or something so we ended up useing a lot of napkins. Then one of us picked up the ketchup and the cap was filled with water and it spilled everywhere. Overall nothing horrible just a few inconveniences that made the experience not as pleasant. I went there Saturday afternoon. After waiting 30 minutes after our food was ordered we received cold food. I'm not talking warm. I'm talking cold. I emailed the corporation and got no response. Came in at 6:00 and was seated immediately. As I was checking out the menu my waiter asked if I needed a couple of minutes, boy did he ever mine a couple! He kept coming back every two to three minutes and finally after the third time I was ready. I had the mango tilapia and he said it was spicy and asked if that was ok. It only has 1 star because it's requested to be able to post this review. BUT if I could, I'd give it -0 stars I had a bad experience with food and their service. I ordered a to go order. I got an order of beans and 2 of rice. Every container had a different measurement and it wasn't even half of the container. The amount was ridiculous. This is the second time it happens and I let them know about it too. I went back to let them know again and the managers response was that every container has the same measurements and it's what it's supposed to be when clearly you can see its definitely not and not what you are paying for. Mr. Elias (owner), the manager on duty is not costumer service oriented at all. His first solution was to just give me my money back rather than anything else. This El Nopal is fine. Nothing flashy, nothing outstanding. The portions are huge! I called my lunch order in and it was ready when I arrived. They weren't busy but it felt like I was a burden being there to pick up my order. There aren't many local options near my office so you have to take what you can get. It's a typical Mexican restaurant nothing notable to one degree or another. I do like that they offer separate small bowls for salsa and they offer a hot along with mild. The menu is to much typical of Mexican restaurant way to many things. I asked the waiter if there was any dinner sampler platters and he was confused did not speak very good English but was polite and mostly attentive. We had four in the group and no complaints on taste or quality or quantity. It was average Mexican cuisine, the dining room was clean and they had extra napkins on the table. Unfortunately, this particular restaurant is exactly the same as many other similar restaurants serving Mexican food. Bland and uninspiring. I purchased the chicken chimichanga meal with rice and refried beans. The chimichanga, along with the beans and rice had absolutely no flavor at all. Having lived in the southwest for many years and having eaten authentic Mexican food, I can tell you this doesn't even come close. The cheese was bland, the beans were bland, the rice was bland, and the chimichanga was bland and the chicken was dry. I realize that this is more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, but even given that, the food was still tasteless. It's as if the cooks are catering to a crowd that they think cannot handle any spice or flavor. read more

This is by far my favorite El Nopal in the Kentuckian area. I know the owners of the El Nopal's in Louisville and I'm sorry to say guys, this place puts you all to shame. It's a cozy, little spot nestled at the end of a strip mall off of SR 64. As unsuspecting as it may be, the environment inside is always clean, bright and upbeat. The staff is top notch, from the "chip boy" on up the owner, who is also a server. I am a vegetarian and I often order the Vegetarian" G". The veggies are always well cooked and the burritos are evenly topped with both queso and red sauce. I hate when you order at a Mexican restaurant and everything comes out floating in cheese. I dine at this location two to three times per week and am always more than satisfied! I challenge any other El Nopal in the area to top this one! I almost forgot, this location also carries the Yucateca Chipotle, which is a sweet, spicy, chipotle version of the Yucateca Hot Sauce that they keep on the table. I have scoured every Mexican restaurant and tienda in town looking for this sauce and this is the only place in the area where I can find. I don't usually eat Mexican because I am Latino and Id probably make it better at home but this place DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Food is authentic and delicious. Interior is nice. Looks kinda like a hole in the wall place from the outside but nicer on the inside. Had the Nopal Especial and was fantastic. Good selection of Mexican beers to pair and it was a perfect lunch. We are from northern In doing a road trip and goergetown is one of our stops. Mexican sounded good after a long day of cave touring. The hotel staff said this place was good. Upon entering the place is spacious and clean. Plenty of staff working and when we were seated they were ready with chips and salsa. Both of which are not homemade. The salsa comes in two small carafe's. One hot and one mild. We didn't try the hot but the mild lacks any spice at all which I loved. The waiter came immediately asking if we were ready to order. Really?? We just sat down! I asked for more time and he seemed annoyed and asked for our drink order. He came back within 1' delivered our drinks and asked again if we were ready. I explained we've never been here before and he acted even more annoyed and walked away. The third time he came he kept looking at other tables and the front door while speaking to us. I asked for the bean and cheese nachos for an appetizer and he prided us further till we ordered our meals. I had some questions and he rolled his eyes and said it explains what it is so I just ordered quickly so he wouldn't get more annoyed. I explained I wanted the nachos first but the nachos cake out the same time as our meals. The nachos are huge. Chips covered with White quest cheese and runny beans. Yum. Just the way I like them. The burritos are basic filling of meat only and salsa ontop. The rice is bland but the runny beans are so tasty. The guacamole is tasteless too. Overall the food is a 4/10. Service is a 2/10 but cleanliness seems 7/10. It was getting more and more busy as it seems there was a baseball tournament that just ended but we got in before the rush and was seated right away. Also, their menu defined a burrito as "a flour tortilla stuffed with chicken or beef, covered with red sauce OR white queso." We thought this meant either topping was an option and their prices would be equal. No. There is a $1.25 up-charge for an a la carte burrito covered in cheese. Just moved to the area and decided to give El Nop's a try. I have been pleasantly surprised at how friendly, accommodating and down right wonderful the staff has been. We have visited several times and enjoyed the drink specials (every day!!) as well as the food. Georgetown doesn't have a lot of options for a quick night out and El Nopal fills this void beautifully. i would have to say the setting, the people and the food is the BEST El Nopal around for more than 30 minutes plus of this area. The store is always clean and looks very neat, etc. The people, oh my gosh, they are just unbelievably kind, thoughtful, etc. The food is exceptional and one time their was a misunderstanding they took care of it immediately and my food arrived like within 7 minutes. They also sing for your birthday and that is fun as well. This one is a must for sure!!!!
