    Enchiladas with Beef Fajitas
    Brittany L.

I tried El Neuvo Mexico for the first time this weekend and was surprised at how great it was! I hadn't heard much about this restaurant but am glad I found this hidden gem! I'm from south Texas so I'm always looking for some Mexican food that isn't super "Tex Mexy" and actually reminds me of home. This place did not disappoint! I ordered the enchiladas with fajitas and my bf got the burrito with barbacoa and chipotle sauce. The fajitas were a little bit dry, but the overall combination of enchilada sauce, rice, and beans was so nostalgic to what I'd eat growing up that I'm more than okay with it! The service was great! They were friendly, attentive, and always made sure we were stuffed with chips and salsa. Lots of large groups of families were there and there was more than enough space to accommodate their parties. I really enjoyed my meal here and would definitely come back for a warm meal that reminds me of home. I would love to try their breakfast, margaritas, and desserts because it all looks great!

Beef enchilada with chili cheese gravy, refried beans, rice, chicken fajita. Excellent

I love Tex Mex food. When we go on a long trip without good Mexican food, I crave it when we get home. So it's the first meal we eat when we return home. Just discovered this place and we wanted to try it out and I was so pleased. Their lunch special prices are amazing for what you get. I ended up getting the chili cheese beef enchiladas with refried beans and rice and a chicken fajita Taco. Everything was absolutely delicious. The enchilada sauce was very tasty and well seasoned. Well. The chicken fajita taco was made with their own homemade tortillas and basically had the chicken fajita meat with grilled onions and some other condiments inside that just made it spectacular. This place bubbled up to the top of my Mexican food restaurant list here in Austin. If it wasn't lunch I would have had a margarita but I got a big day ahead of me so we're going to come back for that and some more food.

    Yummy Tortilla soup

This restaurant is in the same plaza as my Buddhist community center, so we often come here to eat after meetings. On New Year's Day, we decided to eat there again. I wasn't feeling well, so I ordered the Tortilla Soup. It was the perfect choice for a soothing and healing meal. The small bowl was enough to satisfy my appetite and it contained a lot of delicious ingredients: corn on the cob (not typically included in tortilla soup, so this was a plus!), ample amounts of chicken, a large avocado wedge, cheese, and of course, tortilla strips. Topped with tasty cilantro, with a side of rice for the soup. The service is always good. They promptly bring drinks and chips and salsa. And they keep refilling the chips, so no one goes hungry! The atmosphere is friendly. A bonus for this trip was the large screen TV, perfect for viewing the UT game while eating. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    Chicken Fajitas Quesadilla

Delicious as always. Had to add a pic of the smothered burrito. Something I would have a lot back in West Texas but hadn't tried out in Austin yet. 10/10

Great Tex-Mex in the north Austin area! We tried the shrimp enchiladas, chipotle chicken enchiladas, pollo poblano, and the steak. Everything was so flavorful and portions were large. Was a huge fan of their chips and salsa - couldn't stop eating it! Service was great with waiters constantly refilling our chips, salsa, and water before we even had to ask. Nice, family-friendly restaurant that's the perfect dinner option!

Kids bean and cheese burrito! Kids eat free kids meals on Tuesdays after 3PM!

Our family loves this place! Very good horchata (haven't had an issue with flavor or consistency) and their food is delicious! We love to come here on Tuesday (kids eat free after 3PM) for small family get togethers and have always had good service and delicious food! Parking is plenty and easy, with almost no wait time to be seated! I recommend the horchata, and any of their quesadillas.

Mezcal mango marg, queso, mole enchiladas

Food is great, got the queso to go with my chips, amazingly thick. Then had the mole enchiladas, also very good, sucker for anywhere that has mole. Drinks are cheap especially for happy hour. $5 margaritas coming from LA is god sent. Staff is super attentive and friendly and this is pretty much the ONLY texmex I could find open on a Monday at all, or after 3pm which is insane to me. Definitely recommend it.

    Margarita flight!

A few minutes off the interstate with great service, authentic Mexican, and strong drinks! The margarita flight was delicious, and adorable. The so papilla's were light and airy and so good. I'd definitely recommend.

A great spot for traditional old school Tex mex! Satisfied our childhood cravings and nostalgia! We shared a creamy Queso with fresh homemade crispy chips and salsa with a nice kick. Ordered the combo plate which included a crispy beef taco to start followed by a plate of rice and beans with a cheese enchilada and pork tamale covered in a chili sauce. Spot on! Staff was friendly and we were seated right away. Lots of parking

Way over priced and food is greasy. $9.76 for guacamole and it doesn't include chips. spent $45 for tortilla soup, menudo and guacamole.

But I enjoy new experiences and menus with eclectic dishes. The menu had few choices for breakfast and I was unsure why it was suggested as a breakfast place. It's actually a good place to eat any time of day! The beautifully decorated patio provided the perfect welcome into their modestly decorated air conditioned restaurant and bar. When I say bar, it's more like a 1950s bar that you can sit at and have a meal at. Although drinks and meals were offered any time of day! The waitress was pleasant and helpful in suggesting add ons with my meal. But being a purist, I wanted to try it as intended. The food arrived in the normal amount of time. When I first saw my mozzarella omelette I was a little surprised! It didn't look anything like what it was described as! Oh well! I thought. Let's give it a try! My taste buds were happily amazed! Could this omelette smothered in mushroom gravy, green "pesto" and bread crumbs be the best omelette I've ever had?! The mushroom tomato gravy was so smooth! Along with the cilantro avocado topping. That tasted more like pesto, gave it the perfect zing! I had wished I the had ordered some toast to dip in the sauce. I could have done without the bread crumbs. But they were easily swept to the side. The amount of mozzarella cheese in this omelette led me to believe it was more of an omelette lasagna than a plain old omelette. This place is definitely a must if you are visiting Austin!

Melissa was kind enough to provide little cups to take syrup home along with the tael away container. They had a daily special and a board above the kitchen with other items. We were both starving and this place is open 24/7. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.
