Small, hidden kitchen at the back of a gas station. The ladies making tacos here are doing the lords work. Lots of ingredients to choose from and the tacos are made fresh to order. Very good. No precooked eggs here. When you order the taco she cracks a fresh egg on the grill and mixes your ingredients. Good salsas as well. The woman at the store front was very nice. I ordered a chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese taco as well as a carne guisada taco. The cheese was just as creamy as some of the other reviewers had suggested. Delicious stuff. The salsa verde was a great mix of flavor and heat. The carne guisada taco was something I didn't expect--it was super flavorful and had the perfect amount of meat and veggies on it. They DO accept card which I was happy about since I pulled cash out for other tacos trucks on my little taco tour. The best tacos come from gas stations. There I said it. And Tacos Ivan is no exception. They're quick and the food is always hot and delicious. I've had the barbacoa, pastor & bean and cheese tacos. They were all delicious flavor wise however the barbacoa was a little dry. The red salsa is tasty and fairly spicy. As for the tortillas I preferred their flour over corn (coming from someone who usually opts for corn). I will definitely miss working close to tacos Ivan but it won't stop me from coming back. We love Tacos Ivan! We've been eating Tacos Ivan breakfast tacos about once a week for the last three years. Food: The breakfast tacos are terrific. We generally get potato & bacon or bacon & egg. Both are always perfect and piping hot. And the red salsa is HOT. Service: Mary and Helena are both very nice and try their hardest to prepare tacos, take phone orders, and take in-person orders. Once I found the location, next to HEB, I walked to the rear of the building-in the direction of HEB! I had already studied their menu so I was ready! I ordered the 4 street tacos but I was limited to two kinds-so I got barbacoa & carne guisada. Next time I'll try the chicken, too. I waited for the lady to take my order, I was third in line. She was clear about my order and charged me. There's no place to sit so folks are just waiting around for a bit. I saw a post office guy skip through there. I saw HEB employees on their break ordering lunch there. I saw a local neighbor pick up their phone-in order. Lots of activity for a small place. I'll definitely return. read more

Was visiting my sister and didn't feel like cooking breakfast so I was on the hunt for some breakfast tacos. Thankfully my Yelp community came through for me and I found this little hole in the wall inside a gas station. Before you turn up your nose on it being side a gas station, you should know that some really great food comes out of gas stations! Not knowing what to get I got a little bit of everything - I ordered the breakfast plate which came with beans, eggs with sausage & tortillas to make your own tacos, I ordered the bacon & egg taco, the sausage & egg taco, the cactus taco (because I've never had it and wanted to try it) & the carne guisada . . . It came to be about $17. Everything tasted great however I wasn't moved by the cactus so I'd skip that next time. These tacos were better than the other place my sister was trying to get me to go to and I made her a fan of gas station food. read more

I can see why people love this place - especially those that live in the neighborhood/area. It's the kind of small unassuming place that people take pride in discovering and calling their own. I was in the area early one morning for an appointment. Since I live south, I am unfamiliar with this part of town. I was hungry and at a stop light pulled up yelp to see if there were any "breakfast tacos" nearby. This place popped up, was nearby, and had great ratings so I asked yelp for directions without reading anything about the place. I was a little disappointed when I drove up and saw it was a convenience store. I checked yelp again to make sure I was in the right place and then proceded to head inside. There is no seating - strictly a grab and go or call ahead. I purchased a barbacoa taco on corn and a sausage and egg taco on flour. In my experience, tacos on corn tortillas are usually smaller than flour tortilla tacos so I was surprised to open up the larger of the two to see it was the barbacoa taco. The barbacoa was very good and moist but not greasy at all. They did not hold back in packing this taco full of meat! A+. The egg and sausage taco was also very good and fresh, but I was very disappointed in the tiny size of the taco, especially since it was $2. I've had tacos this small before but they are usually 99 cents. Both green and red sauce were good. Overall, a solid taco joint, friendly service, and fresh food. It may be the best in the area but nothing to write home about. read more

This is a great hole in the wall gas station taco place. The tacos come out hot and fresh. They are made to order. I had a bean and cheese taco and a potato and egg taco. Both tacos were delicious. They also serve lunch, including gorditas (could use more meat). Giant quesadillas and burritos. Arrived at Taco's Ivan at 9:40AM on a Friday. There were two people ahead of me waiting for their orders. The breakfast menu looked pretty simple and straight forward. Two ingredient Taco's for $1.49. Lunch isn't served until 11:00, they have pictures over the counter that look pretty impressive. I was getting an order to go for myself and GF. Decided on papas egg and cheese, and bean egg and cheese for her. Ordered the breakfast burrito for myself which came with egg, cheese, potatoes, beans and chorizo. Everything here is made to order, and so it took several minutes for my order to be prepared. As it was being prepared there was a slow but steady stream of people coming to pick up phoned in orders, or to place orders. I admit I wasn't all that excited given the simplicity of the breakfast menu. I took the order home and we dove in. The food was fantastic! Tortillas were all fresh made, and the flavors were perfect. The chorizo in the burrito was light and not oily, the potatoes were soft and flavorful as were the beans, all ingredients were perfectly blended together. They were very generous with what appeared to be white jack cheese. The red sauce they provided with the order was amazing. Probably the best home made flour tortillas I have ever had, soft and tender, the way it should be. We will definitely be going back for more. If simple breakfast items taste this good I can't wait to try lunch. If they make everything to order I would expect to wait when they are busy. read more

Delicious migas tacos, cash only, and now open 7 days a week from 7-3. Grab a drink from the store while you wait. Minus one star because they don't always open on time so the fryer isn't ready for the crispy tortillas in the migas taco and the eggs are overcooked half the time.
