I am from Colombia, and this is the nearest restaurant from my home and it's actually the only Colombian restaurant in north Seattle. I always order the bandeja paisa or churrasco because it's one of the best plates. I've had the Ajiaco and tbh it taste nothing similar as real ajiaco. Went here for a birthday celebration for a friend who has traveled to Colombia several times in the past 3 years, and loves their cuisine. The other 3 members of my party all had Bandeja Paisa, which is apparently a most traditional Colombian dish. I wanted to change things up so I had the deep fried tilapia (Mojarra Frita). The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly, moist and flaky, paired with coconut rice and a very fresh salad. I tried a sample of everything from the Bandeja Paisa, all of it was well executed. A few margaritas and a couple of mojitos helped liven up the celebration, and our server remained very attentive throughout the evening. I did notice that every other guest throughout the evening appeared to be of Colombian descent, always a sign that you have found the authentic version of the traditional food. Very cool spot! I love the atmosphere and the food was excellent. Tried some new things and really enjoyed the experience! I had the ensalada de pollo and really loved it. Staff was friendly and service was quick. There is one very serious issue I have with El Parche, but I decided not to let it affect my score. They use a very strong air freshener that is overpowering. These air fresheners can be very toxic and I immediately started getting a sore throat from it. And furthermore, why would you use that as it probably covers up the amazing smells from the kitchen, or? What a disappointment. Horrible on several levels. While the chicharrón was decent, the rest of the food was inconsistent and low in quality--some friends even felt unwell afterward. The atmosphere was chaotic, with loud music making it difficult to enjoy the meal. It felt more like a noisy, rundown cantina than a proper restaurant. We tried this place because it has wonderful reviews by celiacs; almost the entire menu is or can be made gluten free. The empanadas were fantastic (my favorite was the beef and I'm not typically into red meat) and the sancocho soup (had to try because this is the delicious looking soup Mirabel and her family eat for dinner in the movie Encanto!). We also got the picada for 2 which was a great way to try a bunch of things and my husband loved but was heavy on the meat for me. Too much chicharrón even for him but great for people who love it! Apparently, this is the ONLY authentic Colombian food in town. What's up with that? I'd be more than happy to have 1 less American Chinese restaurant (hehehe) in exchange for another Colombian food spot. I'll be honest, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Colombian food. So my review is probably based off of my typical east Asian palate. I loved everything here. Friendly staff. Clean space. Great vibes. I was constantly amazed by everything we ordered (AND gifted). Big portion. We ordered 2 entrees and that was more than enough for the 3 of us. We were gifted 2 desserts to try and they were soooo delicious. I specifically loved the passion fruit dessert. It's not too sweet and the tartness balances out the sweetness perfectly. It was amazing. I also liked the fried fish a lot and would go back to order again and again. This was our first Colombian food experience and our experience was meaty. I don't known if El Parche makes comfort food, usual food, junk food, or what, but it lacked vegetables. Though I do love a good plantain. And their passion fruit mojito. The service was friendly and helpful while we gringos perused the menu and ordered. My husband got the bandeja paisa which seemed to be a sampler platter but like I said meaty, and if it wasn't meat then it was carbs - rice, corn, plantains, yucca, and/or potatoes. My favorite was the empanadas. We got one of each - cheese, meat and chicken. They were covered by a delicious corn meal. This came with a delicious green sauce. They also have live music some days. On a Friday night, as we were leaving, a band was setting up. I was enjoying their regular music over the speakers which was probably Colombian, but a live band is pretty cool! read more

The food was good, tried the fried fish and it did not disappoint, different for sure. Ok he place is really nice inside and clean. I love the decor and the area looks hip. I think this is the closest Colombian place close to Bellevue, Washington. They have live music Wednesday to Sunday starting at 7pm. We will have to come back for that too. My friend was craving Colombian food and he wanted to take us to one of his favorite places, El Parche Colombiano! We went for a late breakfast and early lunch. I had Colombian coffee (Tinto) and it was okay. It tasted a little watered down. We shared the Arepas con cualquier carne with chicken and it was quite delicious, especially with this delicious salsa-like sauce! For entrees, we got the Bandeja Paisa, Pollo Asado, and Huevos pericos con arepa. Everything was delicious and full of flavor! Love to their old location, and we were happy to finally get to try the new location. It's the same clean, bright, welcoming decor - just just a tiny bit smaller. I lived in Colombia for a few years and learned how to cook many of these dishes. This is a good Colombian food. Is it the most fantastic Colombian food you'll ever have? Husband is Colombian and I randomly found this place at Northgate and he got so excited to come see if this was authentic. Answer is Hell Yes! We had empanadas and yucca fries for starters. AMAZING. We got passion fruit juice it is seriously so fresh. Entrees we had bandeja paisa and sancocho. Yuuuummmm Place had live band and place is decorated so lovely with Colombian hats, dresses, public bus miniature, coffee cups and flag with soccer going on on 2 TVs. Friday night is totally packed. As a Colombian, I have a good baseline of what great food is supposed to taste like. Maybe they had an off day, but the food was way below average. My husband and I got the pan de Bono, morcilla, mojarra frita, pechuga de pollo & a agua panela. The pan de Bono felt like it was made in the early morning then reheated, pretty tough. The morcilla was ok, nothing to write home about. The mojarra frita really had potential to be great but they under delivered: coconut rice was dry and crusty, mojarra was freshly fried BUT lacking serious flavor, the patacones we're not crunchy crispy & the best part of the whole meal was the salad. Where's the love? My husband also thought his plate was lacking flavor even though the breast was well cooked. Lastly, the agua panela was almost too watered down & tasted more like lemonade; not worth the price for the drink given it's just brown sugarcane and lime. 2 stars just because the service and ambiance felt nostalgic, otherwise this place would get a 1 from me. Our favorite empanada was the cheese one and the picada can probably serve 3 people but we were hungry and ate it all. Tasty! Husband said it was reminiscent of Brazilian cooking. We started with the Beef Empanadas, which were GF (bonus!), not heavy on the dough/outer crust, perfectly crisp outside and very juicy, tender filling. In my mission of finding food with flavor in Seattle, I landed in El Parche Colombiano after another friend on the same mission heard good reviews as well. You can tell I'm pretty committed to this mission, as I've gone twice in the last week in order to make the best judgement ;-) Here's what I will say - the food definitely has flavor, the atmosphere feels welcoming and upbeat, and the prices are definitely reasonable for the amount of food that you receive. There are a variety of authentic dishes available, and my friend who grew up in Colombia was really excited to see such great options available. So far, we've tried: - Bandeja Paisa - Picada - Empanadas de pollo I was a huge fan of the over-easy egg on top of the rice, a big fan of the sweet plantains (some of the sweetest I've had in Seattle!), and I'm also a fan of their skirt steak. Both plates have a mixture of textures, and I was most surprised with the arepas, as they were slightly smaller than I'm used to but definitely still tasty. I wasn't a huge fan of their chicharron (I felt it could've been a bit crispier) nor of their beans (they tasted a bit like canned beans) BUT overall the meal is tasty, worthwhile, and worth your money. I'd say what was missing was just a touch of love in the food, and it's what I've found in only a few Latino restaurants in Seattle. I don't know how to describe it, but you'll know it when you don't really have to find yourself adding additional condiments or ingredients to the meal. Regardless, El Parche Colombiano serves tasty food, and I'm happy to continue supporting a Latino family establishment in Seattle. :-) read more

Solid meal to get reasonably full! Reasonable prices for Seattle. I ordered the bandeja paisa ($15.99) which came with a piece of grilled beef (a little tough, not my favorite), fried chicarron, rice, beans, over easy egg, quarter avocado, sausage, an arepa, and fried plantain -- I loved the different textures of the carbs on the plate from the soft crumbly-ness of the arepa, to the crispy and dense plantain! The sausage was well seasoned and sort of reminded me of chorizo de Bilbao I ate a long time ago (a bit milder). I loved the seasoning sauce (like a salsa, but not exactly sure what it is with little bits of chili inside--it certainly brightened the otherwise pretty heavy/dense dishes on the plate I certainly left full and getting my decent money's worth! My girlfriend and I just visited El Parche Columbisno for lunch (our first visit) we were VERY pleased with the service and the dishes we ordered- we both had empanadas (tried all three of the Beef, Chicken and cheese empanadas offered - we enjoyed them so much we had to get another order!) For our main course we both had the Patacon Pisao (with shredded beef) its served on a large fried green plantain with a very flavorful sauce on top. Being somewhat of a margarita lover I decided to try theirs and it did not disappoint! The restaurant itself is very bright and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We will most definitely be going back to El Parche Columbiano again and if you love good Latin American cuisine I highly recommend you stop in for a meal. read more
