This place is awesome! We love to pre order and go pick up for lunch at our office. Sometimes they are so busy the wait is 45 min to an hour, thats how good it is. The staff is super friendly and is always willing to ring up separate orders and bag our orders accordingly. So today when we tried to call no answer. We decided to just come in and yes they were very busy and we had to wait, but hey, great food is worth it. There was a very rude lady fighting with the poor guy trying to help her. She was mad at the 10cents per bag charge... Really lady get over yourself. Go someplace else and let us who appreciate this place get our food. In the end we like this place and the wait time is not an issue at all. Great popusas, tamales, and plantains. One day I will try the yucca but I already love what I get so the choice is hard enough! read more

The Pupusas are very delicious here. I'm glad I made the trip to try this place out. Since it was a light snack, I came here with both my girls. We ordered three Pupusas and a El Salvadoran Tamale, Mango Horchata, Coca-Cola and Orange juice. All three of us were very pleased. The owners Son, is super friendly. We talked a majority of the time, I was there. Very good hospitality and very talkative. Those are major points in my book. The owners son explained all the food they serve and mentioned they do catering as well. We had a great conversation talking about everything. Good food goes hand in hand with good company. Decided to go on a Sunday with my family so I checked their hours of operation because I know a lot of places close early on Sundays. When I checked it said 10a-6:30p. We arrived 40 minutes before closing time which is reasonable. We walked up to their door and to our surprise it was locked. There was about 5+ people still inside eating. We knocked a few times and were completely ignored. And just when we were about to walk away the owner was letting a customer out, but instead of acknowledging us he turned the other way. He then proceeded to lock the door behind him and keep his head down. They should definitely not claim those hours if they're not going to go by them. Very unprofessional and rude! read more

Ok this place is what you call a hidden gem. A diamond in the rough lol ! Ok you walk in and it's definitely rustic. Basic tables, chairs, with a couple of booths. A large painting on the wall which truly embodies the culture of the El Salvadorian food ( ok I don't think I spelled that right)... anyways I love this place! I order the Chicharrón (pork) and queso (cheese) pupusas delicious. Soooo it like masa pancake stuffed with creamy cheese and fork tender pork seasoned just right. Served with this pickled cabbage and carrots that you put on top or eat on the side, perfect to cut the heaviness of the cheese and pork.. you can get mild or hot salsa either one is delicious. This is by far the best Salvadorian place in the Central Valley and even in the Bay Area and East Bay. I have tried many Salvadorian restaurants in all of those places, including many in San Francisco and the food at El Patio is the best. I'm Salvadorian, I know our food. Good quality and service. The taste is truly authentic. The pupusas, AMAZING, not greasy, and flavorful. The frescos (fruit drinks), tasty and refreshing, love them, like the ones we used to get in El Salvador. The beans, real salvadorian beans, delicious. Tamales de Elote, super good. Yes, the place is not so big, and it gets very busy, and it might take long, but it's worth it, 100%. Im half Salvadorian and have been to El Salvador twice. I am proud to say that this is the BEST PUPUSERIA (means Pupusa Store) in Northern California! I have been to Sacramento Area, Central Valley, San Francisco Region, North Bay, South Bay, and have not tried better Pupusas than El Patio's Pupusas. They have variety, flavor, originality, and quality that brings the Pupusa Authenticity Seal of Approval to Stockton. The owner goes back from time to time to bring the best flavor back to us here in Stockton. Best pupusas in town not arguing that but the worst service. I want to preface this with saying I've been coming here for over 15 years because the food is good but after today's experience I got to say it's the last. I live half an hour away btw I called to place my order The owner answers around 3:30 they close at 5. I ordered 4 pupusas and a side of beans and sour cream with a large horchata. He wanted me to get a #8 which is the plantains with beans & sour cream because it's more...I don't want plantains I wanted a side of beans & sour cream. He said he could not sell me the side of beans just the sour cream because then he wouldn't have enough for his other orders?! Mind you the side of beans is SMALL they put it in the same cup they give you the salsa in about 3 ounces. Ok I reluctantly agree. I go to pick up I ask if the sour cream is in the bag he's already charged us, he said no it doesn't come included but I told him I wanted it over the phone ok anyways not swiping my card again for sour cream. Then when I go to drink the horchata it taste like watered down sugar water it's not the same color or consistency it's always been. I don't even want to deal with this man because I know he's just going to give me issues but that's not how their horchata is supposed to taste & it's been the same for years. I leave and am not going back. The older gentleman who I believe is the owner I've always had issues with him, rude, overcharges, forgets things & is still greedy! But then again why the hell are you complaining, pupusas are supposed to clog your arteries! They also sell the Salvadorean horchata. I'm Mexican (at least the last time I checked), and I love Mexican horchata, but Salvadorean horchata made from scratch, C'MON! If you are claustrophobic, i suggest that you phone in your order. The establishment is fairly small. The service has always been speedy for me and the owners are on-site and make everything from scratch. And you can't beat that with a bat! read more
