If you're looking for authentic Mexican food and great service, La Doña Taqueria is absolutely worth a visit. We came during the lunch rush, and the line was literally out the door the entire time we were there. Despite being busy, the all-female staff was amazing. Every person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and made us feel like we were the only customers in the restaurant. That's not easy to do when you're serving a packed house. Some reviews mentioned a 15-20 minute wait for food, but honestly, that's impressive for a busy restaurant making fresh food during peak lunch hours. We'd much rather wait a few extra minutes for quality food than be served something rushed. The highlight of our meal was the sopa de fideo. Instead of the typical chips and salsa that most Mexican restaurants serve, they bring out a warm bowl of sopa de fideo, and it was hands down the best part of our meal. It felt homemade, comforting, and set them apart from every other Mexican restaurant in the area. Their SALSAS 10 out 10. The food itself was delicious, flavorful, and well worth the price. As for not having guacamole--have you seen avocado prices lately? That certainly didn't take away from our experience. It also seems that many of the negative reviews came shortly after opening. Anyone who has ever been involved in running a business knows that opening a new restaurant comes with a learning curve. There is always some trial and error while staff, processes, and operations find their rhythm. From what we experienced, it appears La Doña has listened to feedback, made adjustments, and worked through many of the issues that were mentioned in those early reviews. Between the outstanding service, unique touches like the sopa de fideo, and food that keeps you wanting to come back, La Doña Taqueria earned every one of these five stars. La Dona was introduced to me by a friend who is a regular patron to their Tracy restaurant. Since the opening of this location (2026), I've have tried it once a month and here is my experience. - Service are sometime slow. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to receive your food during the lunch time rush. - One time, I've walked in to order and the front desk person ignored me for 5 minutes because she was busy filling orders. - I've also done an online order for pick-up and stood at the pick up desk for several minutes. I was not helped until I flagged down a server. - I was excited about their Taco Tuesday special but the meat (pollo) are dry. - Prices are okay for this location. We waited and waited for this place to open. They totally overhauled the place. This was our first time here. I noticed how clean the restaurant was as soon as I walked in. América was extremely helpful at helping us determine what we wanted. In the end we ordered the quesabirria, 4 street tacos, chips and salsa and tostada de ceviche de camaron. The presentation of the ceviche was a work of art! More than enough for two - we took some home. You pick your seat after ordering and food and drink is brought to the table. To our surprise, soupa de fideo was brought to us with our drink order. My partner thought it was a bit salty, yet I found it perfect. On the other hand, I thought the salsa was a bit on the hot end, yet he loved it. A common dilemma in our household anyway. A bit disappointing. I ordered tacos from La Doña Taqueria and was a bit disappointed with the food. I ordered online for pickup. Pickup was easy. They had a designated counter with a neon sign for easy navigation. The waitress was nice. She asked to see the order confirmation on my phone prior to giving me the order, which I appreciate. There was nothing really spectacular about the service nor the restaurant itself. It is on the smaller side and seemingly good for a casual lunch or dinner. I got two asada street tacos and one birria street taco with crema. I ordered them with everything on them, and paid extra for the crema. When I paid $1.99 for "extra crema," I was anticipating a small container on the side. I unfortunately got less than a spoonful on a single taco. I'm not sure in what world a scintilla of sour cream would cost nearly $2 when one taco itself cost $3, but it's apparently this one. I was also not a fan of the meat in either taco. The quantity was pretty good for the price, but it was rather flavorless. The asada was bland and not the juiciest. The birria was almost too tomato-ey. It was juicy and tender, but not a flavor I particularly liked. I tried the salsa verde and was not impressed with it either. It was missing that bright and vibrant flavor that a good salsa verde typically has. I also would have also preferred limes instead of lemons. Our kids had chicken quesadillas, I ordered a torta and hubby ordered tacos and we shared. A lot of my coworkers speak of getting their tacos here on taco Tuesday. So I finally had the opportunity to place my phone order that way. Everything was already ready by the time I was ready to have lunch. Arrived a little bit afternoon, a very small line popular spot right on the corner of Weber across from the courthouse. Being that I had already placed my order it was already ready which was a great key point. Myself and two other coworkers were able to sit down and enjoy our meal inside. The tacos were really good alongside the salsa choices that they provide for you. I like the orange one, which I think is a habanero one then they give you a green one and I think a red one as well. The ambience here was nice there is someone that brings your food out to you as well which is also nice and helpful. Overall, I would say I would enjoy more meals here with keeping in mind what specials they have throughout the week. read more

La Dona is new, this is the spot where Casa Flores was in the corner of Weber and Hunter across the street from the courthouse. The whole place is remodeled inside, brand new design. It is nice but less seating than CF as there is a full bar now. Plenty of choices for lunch - I grabbed a salad with beef and chicken. It was huge! I went for the cilantro dressing- was really good and the meat was delicious. For downtown workers, it's the perfect location. My meal came out super quick and the service was excellent! read more

My partner and I decided to try this place since we both work downtown and we were fortunate enough to have the day off. We got the following: Quesabirra taco Chicken taco salad enchiladas verdes de pollo ala cart And soupita de fideo, it was free since we dined in. All of the food we got didn't have a lot of flavor. For example the taco salad seemed like it was going to be good. There were lots of ingredients in it that should have made layers of different flavors: rice, refried beans, lettuce, shredded carrots, pico de gallo ALOT of diced cucumber, chicken, and cheese. However when we tried it, it had an overwhelming cucumber taste. The rice and beans also lacked flavor. However the rice was cooked very well. When ordering they asked us if we wanted ranch or cilantro dressing we said cilantro, that should have added flavor but the dressing just tasted like cucumber. The most unfortunate part is el pollo loco makes a better taco salad (aside from the rice). The quesabirra taco was fine, though 8 dollars for 1 taco is a lot and the taco itself was 25% birra and 75% cheese. I wasn't expecting it to be packed with meat however only having birra at the edge of the tortilla was disappointing. It was a sizable taco I will give them that. Again I don't think it's worth 8 dollars. The enchiladas were also okay, the salsa that was used for the enchiladas had a very cumin forward taste. I don't mind cumin however I wasn't raised with a lot of cumin in my Mexican food so it's not my preference; it may be yours. It did have some spice so that was refreshing. Now the chicken that was used for both the enchiladas and the taco salad was very interesting. It was chopped up very small which isn't a problem normally however, the chicken seemed to lack, substance? It seemed to dissolve rather easily when chewing which was an odd experience. Again unfortunately not a lot of flavor. One last thing about the food. They charge for chips and salsa. Granted they do give soupa de fideo on the house if you dine in (which was fine flavor wise), that's nice and I still take issue with Mexican restaurants that charge for chips and salsa. (Mind you it was 6 bucks) It's also good to mention that they only have bottled and canned drinks. Other than the agua frescas. So no water for the table. The service was really good. The server was really attentive and nice, as well as inside was very nice. Trendy, up to date. Overall, I am not sure I will come back anytime soon. I think they have potential to improve and make adjustments since they just opened up. However I did learn they had/have a food truck so maybe this is just the quality of the food, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that it's because they just opened. They definitely may need to change it up a bit considering that there is another Mexican restaurant no more than 1000 feet away from them, and there are 3 Stockton staple Mexican restaurants a little further down. I know that they cannot please everyone and that's okay. I just think that to be competitive they should make some changes especially since there are a lot good Mexican restaurants in Stockton. read more

This place is located in downtown Stockton. I was not thrilled with the parking situation. However, once we got into the restaurant, the gal who waited on us was extremely nice. She went out of her way to explain the items on the menu. My uncle went to order chicken, which none was available. I also wanted a Mr. Pibb, which was on the menu and that wasn't available as well. I went to order agua Fresca which cost us eight dollars and no refills. The prices from the menu and the truck are different. Expect to pay more. I absolutely love the vibe and the aesthetic . The food had a lot of flavor . They do offer Menudo only on Saturdays, we will be back to try that sometime soon. read more

Pros: Service was good, prompt and friendly, and it was clean. If you want scripture with your tacos, this might be the place. Cons: For me, don't need the scripture, and the food was terrible. No carnitas meat option. No water available. Only bottled water for purchase. So we got a pineapple agua fresca and it was a super sweet, artificially flavored punch. No real fruit flavor. No chips and salsa with meal. ($6 side order) Salsas were served in small to go containers with lids, so chintzy and wasteful for dine in. I had tostada special plate with carne asada and the meat was cut up so small it looked like dog food, and was very bland. Only good part was the salsas had a good kick and masked the lack of flavor. My partner had a wet breakfast burrito and it was better, but it had tons of potatoes and no rice or beans. Who puts a ton of potatoes in a burrito with all the tortilla? Honestly I'd give the food 0-stars, and service 4-stars. We'd drive 10-miles to eat Taco Bell before going there again. read more

Ordered a ceviche tostada on my lunch break, the shrimp was completely raw still. I understand it gets cooked in the lime juice, but it wasn't cooked at all. Didn't get to eat on my lunch. I put it in the fridge for a few hours and the shrimp turned the color it should be. My order came with no tostada, only chips. Once i ate it, it had a weird seasoning taste to it. Almost tasted like a sweet curry seasoning. Very unusual. For a grand opening with these prices, I probably won't return. read more

Staff seemed uninterested, unorganized, and I felt completely ignored as a customer. The food was just as disappointing, poor quality, lacking flavor, and nowhere near worth what they're charging. The prices are completely ridiculous for what you receive. It feels like they're relying on overcharging rather than actually providing good food or service. Spending this much money on a meal should come with at least decent service and edible food, but this failed on every level. I left frustrated, disappointed, and honestly feeling like I wasted my money. There are far better places to eat where customers are actually respected and food matches the price. I work downtown and was excited to try this place out but my experience was disappointing. Before they opened, which was about two weeks ago, we were given a menu with prices. I called in an order for pickup, two tacos with a homemade tortilla $4.75 each per the menu we were given two weeks ago. My total came out to almost $14. When I asked why the only explanation given was that the menu we had was their "soft opening" menu. Nowhere on the menu did it say that. Staff's attitude didn't help, they were a bit rude and didn't offer any type of apology or anything to make it right. The tacos themselves were pretty dry and could have used more salsa. Hopefully they can work out their pricing and service issues because right now it feels a little off for what you get. read more

So don't get me wrong the shrimp taco I had was amazing! BUT my biggest issue is the fact that the menu item prices are very different from the menus passed out during the grand opening. I am not sure why they increase so much but it makes me not want to go back.. for example on their printed menu, tacos with homemade tortillas are $4.75, however, when we went in to pay it was $6 a taco.
