My wife and I decided to head over to the outlets in Vacaville and since we remembered them having nothing worth eating there the last time we were there (two years ago) we decided to eat elsewhere in town before doing our shopping. We checked out EL PATRON and LOS REYES RESTUARANTE Y CANTINA and decided on EL PATRON since it looked a lot less yuppyish. We were NOT disappointed. My wife had the chicken fajitas while I had the enchilada platter. The prices were very good (we're from Santa Rosa and the lunch would have probably cost us at least three to five bucks more there than it did at EL PATRON) and the food was even better! The chicken in my enchiladas was tender and not dry and the sauce was wonderful! The beans and rice were very good, too. We hardly ever get over that way but the next time we go to the outlets we plan on eating at EL PATRON again. The people working there (three men) seemed very nice, too. read more

My kids and I go almost weekly for the Pozole. We love it. Great flavor. Comes with cabbage, limes, onion, and salsa options from the salsa bar. My son also gets the shrimp taco. It's fairly priced and tastes good. I enjoy the bean and cheese burrito. Their frijoles are yummy and again this burrito is fairly priced. The food is always served fresh. The people are always nice. If i could give this place 0 stars i would. The food wasn't fresh on top of the fact it was cold. My rolled tacos were gritty and tamales flavorless. My beans look like something you would find in a sick newborn baby diaper and rice tasted like it was reheated in a dirty garbage can. My one and only place to go to for Mexican food in Vacaville. I always get the chicken tacos and they're bomb. It's a small space, but I've never ran into a time where I couldn't find a place to sit. Me and my friends used to go here a couple times a week for lunch and it's made fresh and it's ready to eat in minutes. Every thing about this place is authentic. Stopped in at 1230 for a quick bite. restaurant was dead. that is always a clue.... it's a funky place, which is fine with me for good cheap food, especially Mexican. Ordered a soft beef taco with all the works. He assured me it was not ground beef. Turned out to be tough and dry tasteless beef finely chopped. Lousy! Well, I must have different taste buds than everyone else or something! I only tried the place because of the great reviews. Sorry, I have to go against the grain here. I've tried two things, the Diabio Shrimp & shredded pork enchiladas. The sauce for the shrimp was ok. I like spicy and it definitely didn't disappoint there. But there was something about the sauce that I can't put my finger on that made it just "ok" as opposed to really good; something was just a little off. As far as the shrimp, it was obviously frozen shrimp out of a bag from Costco or whatever. I don't expect fresh shrimp in this area, but it was definitely nothing better than I could have bought in a bag & heated up at home. As for the enchiladas.....their enchilada sauce is horrible! Didn't even finish them. Yuck, tastes like something from a cafeteria to me. It's not really a red sauce....kind of light orange/puke color and tastes like it looks! Ruined everything else. The tortillas and the pork itself were fine, but bad sauce on an enchilada is obviously going to ruin the whole experience. The beans are very good, the rice is ok, but very bland. The tortillas are good & so are the chips, but I'm not a big fan of the only type of red salsa they offer at their salsa bar.....very very strong onion with little other flavor. I won't be back. I've been a patron of Pelayo's for years and they beat this to death. I've also recently tried Tacos Jalisco as well and they are far better so I have no reason to return. read more

I go here because someone I know demands that we go here. This is very bad Mexican food and the people who call this good Mexican food have never had good Mexican food. Every time I am forced to go, I try something new. And every time it is bland and flavorless. I suspect my older friend's taste buds are failing her with age. I had the Pastor plate which was pretty good, and the g/f had a super burrito which she thought was a bit smaller then most places super burrito, but still a good size in my opinion; not an obnoxiously huge 3000 calorie monster.
