This has been a family favorite for generations. My grandparents, aunts & uncles, parents and cousins all LOVE this place. One of the only places I know that serve their burritos in a handmade tortilla, just like my great grandmother used to make us. You order at the counter, they have burritos, tacos, nachos and a few other items. The prices can be a little high but the food is totally worth it. I love to get the beef burrito; cold which means with no hot sauce, an order of the nachos with jalapeños and a fountain drink to wash it down. Additionally they offer sodas and various drinks in a can or bottle. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out fast and hot. There's plenty of seating inside and outside; in the shade, can't say enough positive things about this place. I was at the welding shop next to Vasquez deli today at lunchtime. I bought a burrito about 5 years ago and wasn't impressed. But, since I was there already, I decided to try it again out of pure convenience. Ordered another burrito. I'm completely bewildering as to how this place stays in business. The foods terrible. For example, I was eating this bad burrito at home and my wife walked by, wrinkled her nose and said, that doesn't smell good, I agreed and said it wasn't good. Was craving a quesadilla so tried out Vasquez Deli after seeing it on the Vacaville Foodies FB group. The staff were very friendly and helped with narrowing down what else we'd like to order from their menu. We ordered a beef taco, carne asada taco, quesadilla and some chips with salsa. Unfortunately, it tasted like what I'd assume attempting to making Taco Bell from home and failing would be like. The tortilla with the quesadilla tasted store bought. The beef taco was bland while the carne asada taco tasted like a packet of premade seasoning was poured on in it. The cherry on top was the hair found in the salsa which I will say wasn't horrible until the discovery. If you're craving Mexican food I'd suggest just walking a little further down the street to Los Reyes or just go to Taco Bell for better tasting and cheaper items. read more

If you like microwaved enchiladas, this is the place for you. Can't understand why they can't spend 5-10mins of actually cooking/baking an enchilada. The enchiladas taste great and I love the sauce, but microwaved enchiladas just give you an upset stomach and kills the "authentic Mexican" food vibe. read more

It's been over 10 years since I've eaten at this establishment. Based on other reviews a favorite place for many. I have to be honest, it's not for me. Today I ordered a carnitas burrito, it only comes with meat and beans, what! This may be traditional and the version I've eaten all my life is Mexican-American, but a $10 burrito turned into $16, to bring this up to what I know as a super burrito. To be fair it's not bad, but it isn't the best, nor worth the price. It was wrapped loosely because the tortilla is thicker than normal and the filling wasn't warm. Meh, it's like going to your White friend's house for Taco Tuesday...the food is ok, but doesn't feel authentic. I came here with my family, on a whim, while looking for the farmer's market that turned out to be over by the time we got there. The menu is on the wall, which is fine, but the two ladies standing there staring at you from the registers, waiting for you to decide, made me feel rushed. My daughter got a carne asada burrito which only comes with meat, beans, and pico de gallo. No option to upgrade to super??? Weird. So we had to ask for everything to be added: rice, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole which made the burrito approx $17!! I ended up ordering 2 of these (one for my husband as well), 3 carne asada tacos for myself, and a kids bean and cheese burrito for my youngest. This with 2 fountain drinks and a beer came to almost $65!!! Now, I wouldn't mind that if the food was great, but sadly it was lackluster. Our makeshift super burritos came on these thick ass tortillas that couldn't even close so they felt more like gyros and the cheese wasn't even melted! My tacos were ok, nothing to write home about. I can usually drown them with salsa and be happy, but their red salsa tasted like canned tomatoes with no spice. My daughter's bean burrito she didn't even finish due to it being so poorly wrapped, it exploded out of the bottom. I hate going to a restaurant and feeling like I threw money away, which is exactly how I felt. Always great service! Clean and welcoming inside and they have nice seating areas outside. What ever you order make sure you add a salted deep fried jalapeño! You will not be disappointed! I've had chicken tacos, I've had nachos (home made tortillas means home made chips you can't get better than that!), burritos, the flautas (rolled tacos) are sooooooo good! If your looking for a nice place in downtown Vacaville to enjoy a good meal this is the place! Did I mention the deep fried salted Jalapeño? Y'all. If you haven't stopped by you are missing out. I normally don't take the time to put in a review for establishments that score this low on the scale. The biggest reason I take the time to leave reviews is to help support Independent, family ran, and new establishments; especially restaurants as that is a hard industry to maintain a presence. We wanted to try out Vasquez deli as we've seen it numerous times, but never made it in. I heard some not so great things about other peoples experiences, but I always like to see for myself, when it comes to Mexican food. Upon arrival, I immediately sensed that the culture didn't feel, well, warm and fuzzy. Neither did it feel very culturally related to the food being offered. I will leave that statement at that. The menu was limited and meh as far as options. I I read other reviews on yelp of this deli. (after I ate there, of course.) I tend to agree with some of them. Not very customer-oriented and the food didn't ring authentic Mexican to me, especially when it came to the ingredients used. No one in my family enjoyed their food or experience. This is the first time that I can ever remember that I left a plate of food at a restaurant, Mexican food at that, on my plate when leaving and didn't take it home. Hopefully other people have a different experience, but this was mine. read more

When I moved away from Vacaville about 35 years ago, I still go at least twice a year. I sure try to go more, but it's not always easy. Went yesterday and it it was fabulous! For the first time I had the chunky beef. I am usually a ground beef burrito person, but wanted something new. And wow. It was great!! Good flavor and good texture. It has been part of Vacaville eats for as long as Vacaville has been on the map and the Vasquez family has generations of family who has been involved in the community. Vasquez is true quick service, authentic mexican food, made with fresh local ingredients. We love the street tacos, chunky beef burrito, classic taco and the tamales. The hot sauce is so tasty too if you like things spicy. They have a lovely quaint indoor eating area with lots of trinkets to admire-- everything from Elvis dolls to vintage washing machines. :) There is a very nice shaded, outdoor eating area as well where you can dine with your dog. Vasquez is not just your average mexican restaurant but a true Vacaville gem that is a must try whenever you are in town. Wanted to check this place out as I have passed it up many times. We stopped on our way out from farmer's market. Went in and not a very welcoming feeling. I ordered the chile verde burrito and rice and beans. My husband and son ordered the chicken tacos. The burrito was wrapped in a tortilla that was not the normal thickness you would expect. It was so thick the burrito was coming unraveled. The chile verde was more like a pickling flavor. It lacked so much flavor. The rice and beans were okay. The tacos that were ordered were like a Taco Bell version with taco shells. Will keep passing this place up as this was a horrible experience - service and food. This review would have been a 5-star review had it not been for something other reviewers have mentioned. My enchiladas were as good as any I have had anywhere: hot, flavorful with just the right amount of cheese. My wife's crispy tacos had the problem of tasting and smelling like the cooking oil had been saved beyond its normal shelf life and should have been changed out for fresh oil some time ago. My husband brought take out home from here the evening of 9/25/23. Unfortunately everything tasted like horrible old rancid oil, especially the overly fried, yet soggy, fall-apart burrito tortillas. Not sure if it was that or not but something was definitely off putting about this particular, later in the evening on a Mon. order.
