This is probably the best place for Mexican food in Vacaville. From the burritos to the street tacos, the food is solid. My sister loves the shrimp tacos from here. In high school, I would come here hungry for a burrito. The burrito is big and flavorful (for Vacaville), it's filled with meat, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, and I would ask for refried beans. So good. Recently I came back for some street tacos, and they were solid - tasted just like the taco truck tacos I would get in San Jose (in college). The fryer oil they were using was bad. The chips had an awful taste and my daughter's chimichanga had the same flavor and big black bits stuck to it. It's a huge place, but there were only 2 other people there. It smelled weird like bathroom and cheap cleaning products and there were flies buzzing around the inside of the dirty front window. Currently my top choice for Mexican food in the Vacaville/Fairfield area (Disclaimer: I've only been to one other Mexican place nearby LOL) I was driving home from Sacramento with my parents and I was craving Mexican food so I made my dad stop here on the way home. Their super shrimp burrito is only $7.95, the place I usually go to get shrimp burritos in Dublin, Los Pericos charges $12 for their burrito! This place is much cheaper and you get your fix! Their fish taco was $2 and carnitas was I think $1.95? A really great deal for good food! The only other Mexican place I've been to in the area is Adalberto's in Fairfield and I really like this place a lot more. It's big too, plenty of tables and self-serve soda and salsa bar! I came here after I walked out of Del Taco for not having soap in their restroom. Salsa roja is da bomb. Hard taco is the way to go. Fish taco had something moldy in it. :( It wasn't the normal taste of the fish, which I know some fish like catfish can taste a little muddy. But something, maybe the tortilla or marinade. You know the taste of mold. Your body tells you, "No, please stop eating." So I ate one more bite to be sure (of course). I had the "camarones a la diabla" and I half expected the spice to be gentrified. But let me tell you it gave me a fierce slap, and I liked it. Very mom and pop style restaurant. The staff isn't overly friendly but they were quick and efficient... so honestly, I don't need my glutes kissed. They did forget to give me my drinks. I had a little too much hope for this place. My chile relleno was fairly bland, as were the beans and rice that came with it. This would be an OK place to take someone out to eat if you didn't want any surprises at all. However, I prefer flavor over playing it safe. When you read that this is a "no frills" place, believe it. Not that that has anything to do with how good the food may or may not be. The "salsa bar" was red or green. Two salsas makes not a salsa bar. It makes two sauce bowls in some ice. Maybe it is the "best Mexican food in Vacaville" but maybe it's also time to leave town once in a while. En route to the Premium Outlets store, we stopped here to refuel our grumbling tummies in this cute little downtown district of Vacaville. Yelp reviews hinted at El Patron as "the Taqueria" and there we were at the counter helped by a really friendly guy who was all smiles. I had my "benchmarking dish" --- Camarones a la Diabla --- while K had the much recommended Al Pastor tacos. I liked my Camarones Diabla though they could have done better. The sauce was pretty good and the beans were better than most places. The mexican rice was par for the course but the shrimps simply tasted like steamed ones on which sauce was poured upon. I prefer the way it's made at my favourite place where the shrimps were seared with the spices on a griddle and came out hot and kicking backsides! Nonetheless, it was pretty good and better than at a lot of other places I have been to! K's Al Pastor apparently missed the mark set by the high recommendations from other reviewers though I was told it was pretty decent. Isaac thought his chicken burrito was ok but preferred unshredded chicken in wrap; I agree. I too prefer chunks of chicken that were pan fried instead. The guacamole was amazing. It was chunky and as fresh as any could be. I am not a guacamole person but this was awesome and I think the best I have eaten yet. I'd pay to have more of it --- which we did, at 55c per bowl if you wanted it with your complimentary tortilla chips and salsa - 5 stars in itself!. The service and the folks there seemed very very friendly - 5 stars. All in all, the food was 3 stars but I'd kick it up a notch for the super friendly folks and the amazing guacamole. I have been eating at El Patron dowtown Vacaville for years! They are always an excellent choice for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner they open early around 8am and they close at 8pm. Food is made to order quickly and serviced inside or to go. Open seating and plenty of room. They are delicious. Love the shredded chicken. read more

I came here for lunch with my mom and grandma the other day and we had an excellent experience! We walked in and everything was clean. The ambiance is super casual. I immediately noticed that they have all of their salsas controlled at a specific temperature which was awesome. They had a great selection of fresh, delicious salsas available. We walked up to the counter and ordered. The man at the front was super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I ordered the "Taco Salad" with pollo asado, lettuce, guacamole, and cheese. My taco salad was so AMAZING for a taco salad! The chicken was so moist and flavorful, the lettuce and guacamole were fresh, and even the taco shell was superb! The man at the front was so on top of it too. My mom asked me to get her a fork from the front and the man up front must've had crazy good ears because he heard her ask and without even thinking, he reached back to grab a fork for me while listening to some else's order. We usually drive to richmond or oakland if we want a really good burrito or tacos. I had one of the best asada burritos today! They just know how to do it! I will definitely be back! Came here on the recommendation of a friend. She said they have the best burritos in Vacaville so I decided to give it a try. I ordered ahead for pick up which was very quick and easy, took about 10mins to get my order. I got the super chicken burrito and my bf got a regular steak burrito. Both were very good! I really enjoyed the rice and beans in the burritos! I wish their salsa was a bit tastier but other than that can't complain. While I have not tried even half the items on the menu, I'd like to give my honest review of the very limited items I did get to taste. Breakfast burrito (chorizo): *decent size for the cost *flavor is definitely there without being salty or greasy *comes with potato, egg, and your choice of meat (ham, chorizo, or bacon) Soft tacos (carne asada): *they don't skimp on the meat per taco *tacos come with onion, cilantro and salsa *meat is tender *meat could use a little more seasoning, NOT salt Burrito (regular): *decent size for the cost *comes with decent amount of meat *too much rice, not enough beans to balance out the three ingredients *salt content is okay but it needs more seasoning To me and my palate, the food is good. Again... it just needs more seasoning, NOT more salt to make it better, great. A lot of places have a habit of over-salting instead of using more spices / herbs or not marinating meats for longer. It's definitely not straight up flavorless as some people have stated though. They have two available sauces which are red and green. I would not consider either one spicy. The red one tastes more like onion than anything else. The green one tastes like tomatillo, which is what I assume it's made from. I prefer that one for that reason and it has a little kick to it. Staff are absolute sweethearts. They're very attentive. Location isn't bad but keep in mind there's limited parking around for all of the businesses within that area. You might need to walk a short distance to get to the restaurant. read more
