My steak Tacos were delicious. Small family owned restaurant a gem in the Pasadena area.

Pulling up to this non descript building one would not guess how good the food is. Craving some Mexican food, I stopped here after work for the first time. I was immediately greeted by friendly lady behind the counter. After looking at tbe menu I decided on chicken quesadilla (beans, lettuce and onion) with a side of Pico de Gallo. A very short wait and I was out the door wth dinner. The quesadilla was big and delicious. Very flavorful. The pico was the best I've ever had on par with what I had in Costa Rica. I've found my new place for Mexican food especially when I don't want to go to a sit down restaurant (although i could as there is a counter with stools in the place). My absolute favorite place for Mexican take out. The food is fantastic. The green salsa is amazing. The al pastor burrito is amazing. All the tacos are delicious. Only complaint and there is some inconsistency. Sometimes we are missing salsa in our containers, they serve different types of fries so you never know what you're going to get. Despite a limited menu and no combinations, which isn't surprising given its authentic billing, the food is absolutely delicious. Made to order, carry out, and quick... Around 10 minute ticket time and I didn't call ahead though there was only a couple ahead of me and one person who came in for carry out in that time. Guacamole was hand made, $6 with house made chips was worth the price and the size was quite large.. Not that neon green paste you get at a lot of places around Dena. Chunks of avocado, veggies, and lime wedge on the side. Enchilada meals come with four enchiladas, around $9 for the standard chicken or you can ask for steak for one dollar more, paired with rice and refried beans, choice of red sauce or verde. We did one of each and I preferred the verde over the red. Asked for a couple sides of salsa, one was red and spicy as hell, the other was green and hotter than the red... A good heat but hotttt. $25 for all wasn't bad and portions were there, add in that everything was house made and made to order with what tasted like quality ingredients and it's hard to complain about the food. It is a limited menu, at least compared to what I am used to locally but choices of tacos with multiple different meats and fillings is appealing. The menu is also geared to the Spanish speaking customer as everything is listed in Spanish first and English second but that's not an issue at least for me. The woman working the counter was very nice and helpful and very pleasant about any questions. This space is very small and caters mostly to carry out orders, there is some seating mostly bar top but very small and it was as hot inside this place as the side sauces were spicy. There could definitely be some attention given to the overall appearance of the inside, sodas and drinks stacked next to a soda machine in cases on the floor, wires dangling out of a wall running to a television, a child's high seat that in no way came close to the seating that was available plus it just didn't have the ambiance other than soccer on the television. Plus it didn't help that the trash can right by the front door hadn't been changed and as humid as it was something in it was rank and just unappealing on the walk in and walk out. But compared to the lack of diverse or locally owned food choices in the area that are decent or worth going to, this is definitely one of those places and the best Mexican I have had in Pasadena, though the options are minimal. But can't emphasize how good the food was and I will be going back to try some of the other things on the menu. The whole time I was thinking about Guy Fieri when he talks about not passing one of those small, dive joints you may never think of going to on the side of the road...This is one of those places read more

Just not good on many levels. I'd heard good things and was excited to finally try them out, but my friend and I ended up so disappointed and disgusted. The young woman taking our order was very sweet and friendly, but that was the only positive. My friend's order was messed up. My food was horrible and very strange - I had chicken tamales - one of them contained six huge chicken vertebral bones. One tamale had no chicken in it and the other one had one small shred piece about a teaspoon in size. The one with all the vertebra had some potato pieces. The one missing the chicken was filled with carrots, peas, and potatoes - like a Stouffer's beef pie. Each tamale was about five inches long and literally four inches of each one was solid corn dough (yes, I measured). They were awful. It seemed like an entire chicken spine in the one, and the whole thing was just disgusting. To say the whole experience was disappointing is a huge understatement. This was my favorite restaurant. At one point my family and use to go four times a week. The employees that work their are racist and definitely do not like black people. I sit there and watch the way they approach the Hispanic and White is totally different. They have attitudes pretty much all day long. The ONLY friendly man is the man who cooks and the only person who speaks ALL the time. They get your order wrong every single time! They over charge you every single time! I highly recommend trying this place. I ordered a chicken burrito with a side of queso (which comes with a good portion of restaurant made chips), cost a little over $14. I went in the evening and there was one other customer there, so I did not have to wait long for my food. Friendly service too. The burrito was large and filling and the best I've ever had (though I admit that I don't eat Mexican food often). My wife and I split the chips and queso and we both really liked them. Very crunchy chips, large portion of queso. This will be my go to place for Mexican food in the future, and it will cause me to eat it far more often. read more

This place is great if you're craving some quick Mexican food, but have grown out of Taco Bell. The staff are friendly and very efficient. I can't eat gluten and it was a little difficult finding out if the corn shells contained gluten or not due to the language barrier. After a few minutes she seemed to finally understand what I was asking it seems like they only contain corn and are gluten free (I hope). The tacos were really good, but I was missing some sort of tomatoes or tomato based sauce. They give you 2 sauces, one green and one red, but they are very hot and not the least bit mild. If you're not into that burning mouth sensation use caution before dumping these on your food. I couldn't handle them. They taste very fresh and I like cilantro and lime. Rice and beans were good, but wish they were not in styrofoam container that leech toxins into your food. Very small inside so I would only recommend take out. read more

Went to this place for the first time last night. It was really good and fresh. I've been to street venders in Mexico and lived in SoCal and it tasted legit. Not a huge selection which is fine if you can cook that well, which they do. Only issue is I asked for no cheese on anything or flour tortillas because of allergies, there was cheese on my beans so I couldn't eat it. The portions are fair for the price and I was full despite not being able to eat the beans. Will try this place again and just explain a bit more about the allergies. read more

When craving tacos or nachos this is the place to go in the Dena. The staff is super nice when you go in but the food speaks for itself. I've had the tacos, beans, rice, queso dip and Supreme nachos. All were flavorful and filling. The tacos are real deal. 2 soft corn tortillas filled with fresh ingredients and the protein of your choice. They even have specialty meat like tongue. It's a little extra cost but worth it if you are craving that sort of thing. My daughter and I love the nachos. We get steak on the nachos. I'm in love with the 2 salsas they provide. Both salsas are spicy and perfectly matched with the cilantro on the nachos. I can't decide if I prefer the red or green Salsa so we use both. .. And get extra. If you blink you will miss the location and drive right by it. Look for the orange awning. They also serve breakfast and I am looking forward to trying that. read more
