I used to go very often. They're a little on the pricier side but so worth it. It's beautiful inside and outside. Staff very friendly and accommodating. I won't wait so long again to go back. My go to meal the is Howard. Scrambled eggs with crab topped with a lobster tail. So so good. Even the little bread/muffin basket they serve you before the meal is great. Lemonade is delicious. My son had pancakes and bacon and inhaled them. His mother always gets the pot roast. She wasn't disappointed. I will say although the gumbo is decent, it's not the best I've had. The roux is very dark which gives it a slight burned taste. But the flavors are there. All in all love Cappy's. I won't make the mistake of staying away so long again.

Unfortunately, the experience changed once we were seated. Our waiter was incredibly short and came across as rude throughout the meal. When we asked for recommendations or some of his favorite menu items, his response was essentially, "I don't know what you like," rather than offering any guidance. The service somehow felt rushed even though the food itself came out slowly, and there were very few check-ins during the meal. When it came time for dessert, we asked to see a dessert menu and were simply told, "It's on the menu you have," which summed up the lack of hospitality we experienced at the table. I ordered the Mustang Chicken, and unfortunately it was very disappointing. The chicken was fatty, full of tendon, and tasted more like a frozen piece of chicken that had been dropped into a deep fryer than something I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. It's disappointing because the restaurant has a great atmosphere and our experience at the bar started off so well. Unfortunately, between the table service and the quality of the food, I would not recommend Cappy's based on this visit.

My wife and I went to Supper at Hotel Emma for our anniversary, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening. We sat at the kitchen bar, which ended up being one of the highlights of the night. It was so much fun watching the chefs work, and everyone in the kitchen was incredibly friendly, personable, and welcoming. To make the night even more special, they prepared a few dishes specifically for our anniversary. That personal touch meant so much to us and made the entire evening feel truly memorable. The food was excellent, but what really stood out was the experience and the people. Supper went above and beyond to make our anniversary feel special, and we left feeling like we had celebrated somewhere truly unique. I'd highly recommend Supper at Hotel Emma for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion. If you're lucky enough to sit at the kitchen bar, definitely do it!

We chose to sit at the kitchen counter, where the chefs were prepping for the change over to the late shift crew. They shared complimentary samples of the beef tips paired with a perfectly juicy tomato. We had a pureed soup (squash maybe?), amazing toasted seeds on top. Can't even remember it all in the haze of how satisfied we felt with every bite.

Food and Service with a simple ambiance…read more This was my second visit with friends this time on a Wednesday. First there at opening time. Instantly greeted, and drinks came fast. Ordered the Soul Rolls and just WOW. A egg roll type wrap filled with seasoned ground beef, greens and Mac N Cheese. With Brown Gravy. MMM. Could be a meal by itself. Friend ordered Fried Green tomatoes. No complaints from him. Perused the menu with the Wednesday special being Meatloaf, 2 sides and a drink. ($11.99). I ordered meatloaf was delightful dense meat... not many fillers smothered in brown gravy. A side of Mac N Cheese and Okra.. SO MUCH TO EAT. Friends got the Swai fish with Yams and Green beans. Second friend had Catfish with cabbage and okra. They both loved their individual plates, had enough to create a to go plate for later. And don't get me started on the Banana Puddig for all 3 of us. MMM. Support this business. They do Soul cooking excellence.

The flavors were on point, well-seasoned, and cooked with care. I especially enjoyed the fried chicken, the cabbage, and those black-eyed peas--pure comfort food done right. I do want to share one note for transparency. The catfish entrée came with one piece of fish. It was a nice size (unfortunately I didn't grab a picture), but I'm used to receiving two fillets with a catfish entrée, so that part was a little disappointing for the price. We also ordered a catfish sandwich to go, and while this didn't take away from the overall experience, an additional piece of fish would better match expectations. Now let me give credit where it is absolutely due. The young woman working the front--Ariel (I believe it's spelled A-R-I-E-L, and I apologize if I missed that)--was phenomenal. She was cashier, to-go coordinator, and full-on mama energy, handling everything with grace, patience, and a great attitude. Even as it started getting busy (you know how folks roll in after church), she still made space for friendly chit-chat while keeping everything moving. Another thing I truly appreciated: the place was clean. And for me, that matters. Spotless, inviting, and the only thing in the air was the smell of that delicious food--no distractions, no off-putting odors, just good cooking doing what it's supposed to do. The food is served in to-go containers and everything is cooked to order, so expect a little bit of a wait--but honestly, who would mind waiting for food prepared this fresh? Overall, this was a great experience with great food and excellent service. I'll definitely be back--and hopefully next time there's just a little more catfish on the plate.

This review I dug up is from a while ago, things may have changed…read more February 2020 was my first time at Savor (CIA) restaurant in the Pearl complex of San Antonio. By going on a Wednesday (around 7:30 PM) we were able to find parking and be seated without a reservation, but I recommend planning ahead other nights as the area gets very busy (and noting their hours). It was a pretty compact space, no lighting issues, but also quite noisy. My companion and I had to concentrate on each other to carry on conversation. We each ordered the four course menu, which lets you pick one of an item from each course, and I added a wine flight. We each took a bite of each other's food for maximum exploration. Keep in mind this is a training restaurant, and part of the proceeds go toward culinary scholarships. I can distill the experience into three points: The food was very good, the chefs-in-training are talented; The wine flight was disappointing; The server was warm but still in need of training. Dishes I got to try include the Hamachi Crudo, Steamed Blue Mussels, Tartar Brulee, Strip Sirloin, Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Belly, and Chocolate Souffle. The Hamachi was excellent, as were the mussels with potatoes and garlic (someone didn't share her chorizo with me). The main course strip sirloin was also excellent, and better than the grilled pork I chose. The steak was tender and moist. I gravitate toward pork belly items, but this pork was a tad dry. The chocolate souffle wowed my partner, but I found the cocoa note not to be to my liking, perhaps too bitter. I should add that the plates are quite small, so you may not leave full if you're very hungry. Before going into the negative, let me say the food was a fun experience, and I'd go back for another multi-course meal, or to explore the bar bites menu. The wine flight was a letdown, as it was small pours of mild wine, served with two word descriptions, one of which was plain wrong. I don't drink much wine, but I've had enough to know that these wines were probably chosen to be the least offensive. A small pour of a bold drink can have quite some value, but the small pours exacerbated the boringness. The wine service largely informs my opinion the server needs improvement/was likely early on her training rotation. I also had to plate swap with my companion when I was served her mussels. People trying and improving are to be expected at a training or test kitchen, so I appreciate her effort and ability to keep my water glass at least half full. We ended up being quite happy with the food and experience, which was good overall as a date night, but could've been better with a revamp of the wine pairing, or me electing not to have wine. I can't see myself going on my own given the price point of the courses, but I like to treat my partner. I'd recommend it if you're curious about the budding chefs or specific menu items, but be wary of the wine flight.

We also had the snapper throats and loved them. The aioli was a great sauce with them. I had the gulf catch of the day, which was grouper, and it was so good. Great seasoning, perfectly flaky and moist, a nice crust on the outside. With that we had some jalapeno corn bread which was also delicious. Not too dry at all. I was hoping for it to be spicy but it was not. For dessert, I gad panna cotta and it was a great ending. Not too sweet, but the berries made up for that. The lavender meringue bites had a great crunch. Our server (Maya) was excellent. She was so friendly and helpful. Finally, the decor is unmatched anywhere. It used to be a brewery and they kept the old pipes and valves, which look very cool. It has a great vibe. I highly recommend. Without the need to, I'll mention anyway that it's not cheap. Pass on the summer squash- would be tasty if squash was shredded (like spaghetti) but cubed, the texture was off-setting. Drinks are fun - had the "madame" -yum. Fun spot - definitely would return.

We had a large party of nine and we waited about ten minutes that was great timing. The restaurant offers a full bar with some crafted cocktails. We stated off with some Crispy onion rings which were a perfect start fresh and hot perfectly coated deliciousness. We all ordered meals including steak and shrimp cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly paired with loaded mashed which was enough for two. Two of us opted for the chicken fried steak. Seasoned and fried to a crisp golden with white gravy and a large heap of skin on mashed that were creamy and delicious. One fried shrimp platter hot and good. One fried catfish which was also prepared perfectly paired with cocktail sauce but they added on the tartar sauce. One kid had sirloin and mashed and she finished the entire steak. One chicken fried chicken which was also good. The portion sizes are generous , hot and fresh. We paired our meal with a few bar cocktails including old fashioned , martini , and margarine tossed in a few beers and we had a time. We weren't rush or slow to get service. All in all we enjoyed the meal , the vibe is good. When weather cooperates they have some outdoor seating options as well. Try it for yourself !
