We randomly found this restaurant while visiting the area. It's a small establishment with indoor and outdoor areas. The ordering process is similar to fast food; order at the counter, take a numbered cone, and wait for the server to bring out your food. I didn't really like ordering at the counter because it feels rushed and I didn't get the opportunity to review the menu thoroughly. I suggest viewing the menu online prior to arriving. We found seating at a table top section overlooking the live band that was playing. The restaurant has cool vibes, great decor, and it appeared very popular. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were presented well, portion sizes were huge, and overall flavor was good. Parking lot is small so street parking will most likely be your next best option. The restrooms are single use so there may be a wait. Overall it was a pretty good experience! read more

The ambiance = perfect. I had a great time here with the live music. Sitting outside was really nice around dinner time. The service was great and we were checked on several times. A friendly welcome and no wait at 7 on a Saturday! We placed our order at the counter and paid, kindof like fast food, but they bring it to your table. The tip options start at 18% which is interesting since you have to order at the counter and they just drop off the food. We had to grab our utensils ourselves and there was no real service. The patio is not too noisy considering it is right next to the freeway. Our fries came out in minutes which were tasty, some crispy, some not. Our main meal was "the special" steak and shrimp, which was okay. The steak was a tenderloin, which tasted previously frozen. The shrimp and onion rings had the same batter which was good, and the vegetables were cooked well. I think we should have stuck with a sandwich like we did last time. read more

Our experience here was quite positive. The food was excellent and the service was great. The indoor seating areas were comfortable & they have a nice covered patio eating area as well. My country fried steak was tasty & large enough to share. Our table also ordered the fish & chips, which was also a large serving, the trio of sliders, and the rib eye sandwich. Took time to answer questions and describe menu items. The place was pretty chill but definitely seems like it can be lively during evening hours. They have live music during various times. Order blackened fish tacos with mushroom rice pilaf. Two fish tacos to an order but they were stuff plenty with fish. Usually rice pilaf is an afterlife most places; but this side was plenty flavorful. Definitely good enough to stand on its own. Order an old fashioned for a cocktail; and it was plenty boozy. Very bourbon forward. The ratios were a bit off but I enjoyed anyway. Just finished the most amazing lunch at the hidden gem. We were passing through San Antonio and found it while searching Yelp. From the minute we walked in the door everyone working was so friendly. All of our food was delicious from the fried mushrooms to the grilled chicken salad to the blackened mahi tacos. To top it off was the bread pudding! To die for! I ran into Anna, the owner, who recognized Dad. She gave us chips and queso on the house! That was very sweet and kind! She had long been in the restaurant business originally with La Tuna Grill and opened @theridgeatthehill in 2023. I had the Rum Punch, Hubby had the Arnold Palmer, and Dad with Lemonade. We ordered the Beer Battered Fish and Chips and the Ridge Burger to share. Huge portions of food! Definitely go hungry! Everything was fantastic! This was a fantastic dining experience and a great way to support a local gem! It was my first time here, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our large group of 15. Our server, AJ, was incredibly hospitable and did an amazing job keeping everything running smoothly. This place was soooooo good! Little hole-in-the-wall type, but the food had so much flavor. I got the 3 chicken sliders with bacon jam, and it was just so delicious. But I purposely left room for that fudge brownie. It was served in a cup-type of dish. The brownie at the very bottom (which was so frikking good) plus some vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream, nuts, and some fudge. This was insane! I loved every bite! Walked in and was greeted by a gentleman with a bear on the other side of the counter and asked us what we wanted to order? When we got out food, the food looked good. I took a bite of my sandwich and the pork meat was cold but the bread was hot & toasty as well as the seasoned fries. By the time I finished half of the pull pork sandwich, my stomach started feeling upset and told my wife that the meat was cold and that I was not going to eat the other half because I felt my stomach getting upset. A gentlemen came and asked us how was everything and explained the sandwich situation and he apologized and said he would take the sandwich off my bill and I thanked him. My wife shrimps looked dried, pre-seasoned, and not fresh but she didn't complain and said that her mail was okay. However, she did mentioned that the veggies had a lot of garlic and was not abled to eat all the veggies and put most of the garlic on the side. Ordered Coke Zero and was told the machine was out of it. Ordered a sprite and the sprite had a bad taste so we ended up drinking water and let the soda untouched. That night, my stomach felt sick and ended up having diarrhea that night and when I work up the next day. The good thing is that I lost about 2 lbs! If you go here, make sure that whatever food you order from the menu is cooked/heated at a temperature that won't get you sick as I did. read more

Alright, so the hubs ate here a few weeks ago.. without me and then proceeded to tell me how good it was (insert eye roll). He said he knew I'd love it. But, he brought me out and he wasn't lying. The service.... Top notch. The food... delicious. The setting... cute. I'm always nervous about getting an egg on my burger. I asked the sever the make sure it was "like not runny, but not so over cooked"... He said I got you... and he did. Also, you know how sometimes the tomato you get is like half yellow, and from the butt of the tomorrow? This was the freshest cut, most beautiful tomato ever. Not even lying. The. Brownie. Was outrageously delicious. I loved the cream I top- ain't no way that was Cool Whip! Hubby said who he thought was the owner was making her rounds last time, not tonight. We had my sister-in-law's funeral reception here on 5/18/26 and there were about 20+ of us. The food was delicious. The service was fast. And, the employees were all nice and friendly. We ordered the breaded mushrooms (so crunchy and good with ranch dressing), the chicken fried chicken sliders with that fantastic bacon apple jam (oh so delicious!), fish tacos, Caesar salad with chicken, fish and chips, several different burgers, and plenty more. All were so good and mouth watering. This place might be a hole in the wall but it's one of the best restaurants around. This is an experience I had with The Ridge at the Hill. Looking to find a dinner joint that opens slightly late since I typically work late and found this on Yelp. Decided to try it on a lovely warm Thursday evening. Amazing find. It is located right off the New Braunfels exit on the 35, Intersecting Rogers Ave. Not too difficult to find even at nighttime. It is across from Sonic Drive-in. Parking is small but enough with 2 rows of space in the back of the restauant; might be busy during popular mealtime! Interior decor is classic but very clean. The owner did a great job remodeling the interior and has a hip and modern vibe with many historic pictures. Bathroom is clean and does not smell (my personal pet peeve) so bravo! Ordered the rib eye sandwich. Presentation was great accompanying lettuce, onions and pickles on the side. The substitution sweet potato fries were amazing; crispy and savory. The rib eye was perfectly warm, melting in the cheese sandwiched between the hoagie bread. One of the best sandwiches I've had in while! Can't stop eating even after being full with half of it. Ended up stuffing my stomach (which I don't usually do, I typically bring back half of my meals). The staff were also amazing. All very friendly and respectful. They also welcome military personnel so that's definitely a plus! AJ came to introduce himself and chatted with me for a bit even though he was not my server; Evan was great in checking with me and making sure everything was good after delivering my orders. Amanda also offered amazing suggestions from the menu. Definitely a great vibe here. We are visiting from Hawaii and California, looking to enjoy southern comfort food during our stay. The Ridge at the Hill delivered exactly what we were looking for, and then some...the food was great and the portions were generous. The wait staff was awesome, they were very attentive, our food was delivered quickly with very little wait time - mind you there was 20 in our group! The place was warm and welcoming. I also want to mention how responsive they were when I was making the reservation- there was personal attention to my emails, it was an actual person responding to my email reservation. To me when a place moves, for whatever reason it tends to lose something in the process. The Ridge at the Hill, which used the be the kitchen operating primarily from "La Tuna Grill" definitely lost something in its move. I always felt that La Tuna and La Tuna Icehouse were a package deal. I remember spending Fridays after work at both. The routine was to first place your order at "La Tuna Grill" and then get cheap drinks for Happy Hour. Then as you brought your cone back to your table, you would wait. Then an eclectic array of servers would bring your food. Most of the time they would chat with or would exchange simple niceties. It was a great compliment to the Icehouse and vice versa. But alas, life happens and thwarts plans. I've seen it many times before. The minute a place moves it leaves behind the things that made it unique. Firstly, the place and ambience are fantastic. The Ridge's re-imagining is stark from where it was at before. I think for me, using the cones and trying to recreate the lore of the Grill is not a good move. It should have created a new identity. Its presentation betrays its former self. In this situation the service was lacking. The experience felt like a restaurant rather than a casual place to hangout. I will say that it is pretty spacious. But it's lacking a vibe. What made the Grill special was that it was ultra casual, carefree feeling. Now it feels like I have stepped into a place with the seating time of a restaurant. With it being in this particular area the prices have gone, way way up than where they used to be. Again, the food is good but it struggles from trying to be two things at once: a hip place trying to attract a new demographic whilst maintaining its former "La Tuna" glory. In addition they did get an item wrong. It wasn't the end of the world. But this rarely occurred if all at its old location. I might go back in a few months, when it's cooler. So I can take advantage of the outdoor seating. It might be bumped a star higher but it can never be what it was before. I guess I miss sitting and branches fell from the trees onto the table as you were eating. I miss how things used to be. read more

When it gets crowded, you end up on the street. There aren't any prohibitive parking signs on either side of the street that I saw. Very easy to find. 35N to New Braunfels. Just about at the intersection on the north side. They've done a great job of renovation. The place is pretty with tables, a counter, outdoor seating complete with what looks like Astro turf. We ordered the chicken fried steak (the breaded steak, sliced potatoes, sliced tomatoes, salad with a slightly sweet dressing). The ribeye sandwich comes with fries. The husband also had a cup of the white chili which he says that while good, is not as good as Cappycino's. Well, whose is? The sweet tea is super-sweet. Service was great. Visited this unique restaurant since they could accommodate a large party on short notice and it was a good thing we chosen this place as they quickly accommodated us! Upon arriving, you see a nice entryway with what appears like a historic home converted to a quirky restaurant. Seating is open normally and you place your order at the register up front and pay then your order is delivered to your table however due to our occasion the staff was nice enough to take our order at our table. The service was great plenty of trips to our table to rest assure our needs were met. Live music was playing on this Friday evening, was nice however a little loud to talk within our group. The food was good, ordered the Fried Jalapeño Poppers for appetizer, it came with 3 cheddar and 3 cream cheese filled fried jalapeños and that stole the show right there dipped with creamy ranch, we had to order another. For the entrees, my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken Sliders, it was sweet and tasted unique, not really what she was expecting and as for myself I ordered the Beer Battered Fried Fish which was really good, a bit greasy however dipped in tarter sauce and it made for a great fried fish dinner! Ordered ahead for lunch. Super easy process! Drove down maybe 8 minutes later, stood for just a second at the counter until acknowledged and the staff was super friendly. Saw they had bread pudding and, missing England, added it to my order at the last minute. My food was ready within 5 minutes of me arriving and while I waited another staff member graciously offered me something to drink while I waited (I declined). I beat my coworkers who went to the BX on base, back to the office which was good lol. I struggled between ordering a po boy, burger or the lamb sandwich, and ended up with the black and Bleu burger. The to go container had some hefty weight to it, which was a good sign. Burger bun nice and crisp. Cheese topping perfect.Was a bit disappointed that the patty looked premade and think it would have had better flavor if hand formed, but I get pre made saves time. Came here based off the recommendation of a customer of mine from Lackland. Saw some pics he took and I was sold. This place feels like it's been here forever; I guess the house has, but you know what I mean. It's got the neighborhood vibe. The space is awesome and makes me want to hangout here all day. My first impression was regarding the selection of craft beer taps. Usually you'll have 1-2, with the rest being big brands, but it's reversed here and that's awesome! Food is AMAZING! No other way to say it. My party had the chicken friends steak, fish and chips and ridge burger. We also started with the nachos, which has some of the freshest pico I've had outside a family gathering. Warm brownie was not overly sweet, even with the ice cream. Honestly it was perfect. The weather was nice, the day of the ring of fire eclipse, so we took advantage of the porch. While very welcoming and comfortable setting, we noticed our only gripe; having to get up every time to order something. Bring in the horseshoe booth, this became a major inconvenience. Would really like a POS that allows patrons to scan/order at tables. Especially because the order counter causes the line to brush up next to tables inside the dining room.
